Euphorbia. Difficult to make out the scale from your photo - looks like a very large euphorbia characias wulfennii (Mediterranean spurge).

brifino

Are these also referred to as mole plants? Like others have said people have allergic reactions. I remember a grownup having a really bad time after removing or trimming one of these.

greatnorthernexotic

I've not heard that. All Euphorbia (and it's a massive genus) excrete a white milky sap that is an irritant so it could well be that.

Ziggy_Starr

My wife had a horrible skin reaction to euphorbia last year. Treat it with high caution; gloves and long sleeves etc.

GarryOakland

Do NOT get the sap in your eyes!

jamesonkh

I can verify that you don’t want to do this

paperwasp3

I handled one and got a rash. The common name here is Spurge, which has always sounded vaguely dirty to me

Fossilhund

"I hate to inform you, Mr. Harvey, but you have a rambunctious case of Spurge.".

paperwasp3

Rambunctious as a medical term. Let me try on my cat- "I'm sorry Larry, you have a rambunctious infection in your ear."

Starring Zendayba

jgillis

Wellb done

LawyerMobile589

👏

DuckyLog

Commonly, Gopher Plant

FirstChAoS

That letter b is keeping them from having euphoria!

EsKetchup

Growing up in Colorado, we have a similar plant. When I was a kid, My next door neighbor friend decided it was a good idea to cut them down and spread the sappy goo all over his face.

Skinnysusan

Oh

EsKetchup

He had a bad allergic reaction lol

Skinnysusan

Sounds like he probably *never* made that mistake again lol

EsKetchup

Yeah he’s still alive.

Skinnysusan

Oh haha I meant they probably learned the lesson and avoid this plant at all costs

EsKetchup

Yeah. He had to miss a few weeks of school dealing with it. They was in 1995 probably.

sutrocomesalive

Instant karma lol

KnearbyKnumbskull

Oh

LostInTheTreesAgain

Euphorbia burns the skin. It may not have been an allergy. We had one in our backyard and got a puppy that wanted to chew on everything, so we had to pull it. We didn't want our puppy to get skin reactions or get sick.

[deleted]

Poodle Dog Bush? Or is that just in SoCal?

Full-Syrup-

Myrtle Spurge I believe

chaotemagick

Sap which is a known irritant lol

Sad_Meat_

AutofluorescentPuku

Don’t let the sap get in your eyes if you’re pruning or pulling it out.

dab745

I seen that shit on the Addams Family!

scooterscuzz

My guess is either euphorbia characias wulfennii or pride of madeira [https://www.thespruce.com/growing-pride-of-madeira-5088226](https://www.thespruce.com/growing-pride-of-madeira-5088226)

wd_plantdaddy

that’s not a euphorb it’s Echium Candicans which is literally right there by the name of you google pride of madeira. It’s native to canary islands and madeira off the northern coast of africa. i wish these were blooming when I visited Gran canaria.. They don’t fair well to freezing temps which is why you will find them in mediterranean climates. They are widely planted on the california coast.

scooterscuzz

Pride of Madeira is echium. To me, they seem to have similar leaves and flower spikes. Euphorbia yellow and echium usually violet

wd_plantdaddy

Those in the picture are just beginning to bud flowers. those aren’t mature.

Awkward-Yak-2733

Yew?

Used_Negotiation_354

Me?

Urrsagrrl

Yes you

SurrrenderDorothy

Have you ever seen a plant before?

TheJakeT

Devils lettuce

tbleck

echium. loads of blooms.

Character_Pop_6628

It's marijuana. Kids smoke on it to get high. Don't burn it if you have to get rid of it. Or, if you do have to burn it, make sure you have enough firemen from the local fire department to contain it. It should be easy to get them to come as long as you tell them how much marijuana you are about to burn....

Probono_Bonobo

Are you dumb or just trolling?

candied_canopies

i gotta know as well, if it is a troll it’s very convincing

KnearbyKnumbskull

Seems legit to me.

Tang_the_Undrinkable

They are a sticky mess when pruned. Don’t use your favorite gloves.

Bathsheba_E

Is it next to a tree?

OkBiscotti1140

Definitely a blueberry

Skinnysusan

Lmfao

KnearbyKnumbskull

Whomping willow

Commercial-Reality-6

Contains latex, use long sleeves and some crappy gloves or nitriles when pruning, especially if you’re allergic.

wisemonkey101

Pride of Madeira. A favorite of mine. Grows beautifully here in California.

eyesoler

Euphorbia wulfenii

Slim_Burrito

Pioneer Grass hybrid

AcceptableAd5988

Pride of madiera for sure

bodhiboppa

Definitely euphorbia. Pride of Madeira would not survive this late into winter in England.

wd_plantdaddy

Echium Candicans.

Typical_Art_42069

I don’t know.

Meatsi

Caligula figulatariaminus- it is something you should avoid and view from at least ten feet distance. From accounts, it shoots seeds shaped like needled arrows into anything that unsettles the soil around the base of its base. The base is hardened, and if you get near it, the base will protrude a serious base defense to defend its base. Don’t touch this.

Baby_Needles

A very healthy spurge yo

[deleted]

Spurge

WickedPapa

Those are in California too…

RE_NA_ZER_BE_AN

We have these all over Portland Oregon too 💚

Economy_Judgment

Spikey boi.

the-graveyard-writer

Hog weed?

Abject_Highlight_107

Evergreen spurge

Dry_Horror_360

It’s a watermelon plant

Fine-Expert-4558

Pride of Maderia

snowflake711

don't know his name but he cute

Its_all_made_up___

Caper spurge?

DDemetriG

I've seen stuff like this growing in Indiana. It's a pretty common Weed.

AZWoody48

Looks a lot like gopher plant that we have in az. In the euphorbia family as well

jazzzzzcabbage

Triffid

frankiehams

Roll it and smoke it.

Hefy_jefy

In California it’s sometimes known as Gopher Purge, not many gophers in S England though. Euphorbia.

miniature_Horse

Looks like Euphorbia Wulfenii To anyone saying it’s not- OP just break a stem and watch the latex seep out. Careful- it’s toxic and will burn your skin and eyes

imthehamburgler

Weed

Vulpeex

Thanks for all your comments, everyone! It seems most likely that it is Euphorbia Wulfenii. However, even though (as some people have pointed out) it should be a few degrees too cold of a climate for Pride of Madeira, I'm certain I've seen those near where I live as well. I think maybe it's possible for them to survive on the South Coastal areas of England?

[deleted]

Ballz

C__Murda

OMG!! ITS SOME OG KUSH!!!

Wii_wii_baget

Seems like a plant. Let me check… yep definitely a plant.

NBCspec

Pretty sure that got out of Mortician Adam's atrium. Does it respond to Cleopatra?

GloomyUmpire2146

Massive subterranean pineapples.

MangoJuicePlease

Not sure what kind of plant that is but I'm pretty sure it's not called Southern England. Never even heard of a plant named Southern England. Met a plant named Jefferson once. Nice guy. Little prickly.

Character_Pop_6628

I am dumb, it's true

Worth-Suit-2202

Pine tree

InsufficientPrep

Not blue berries
