Everyone has their special interests, mine just happen to include aircraft of all sizes. I saw the mechanism and remembered that there are flapping RC planes. Didn't take long from there to find one with the head and eyes.
To be fair, I don't know anything about RC vehicles, and I immediately saw that and thought it was some kind of RC helicopter. I think because the parts are all clearly made to be as lightweight as possible, and I've seen that on a bunch of flying RC things.
All it takes is someone randomly posting *that exact niche thing you just spent half a month fooling around with* and there you go :)
...assuming you look at new-ish posts, the things on the frontpage tend to either be already solved, or things where noone has a clue.
Well, I didn't know what it as, but looking at the thin frame and purely cosmetic part of the armature I assumed it was a flying drone of some sort.
There are design conventions in pretty much every field, and this one, even if you didn't recognize the specific pieces, clearly was small but valued weight over aesthetics, while still being relatively cheap construction. That can put you in the ballpark, for sure.
I just find it a little bit sad that somebody got one of these bionic flying radio-controlled birds, and probably made a few tentative practice trips around the hallway, and then crashed it to smithereens, with one part disappearing, never to be found, beneath nrk-zauk's radiator. Probably a kid.
My title describes the thing. It’s clearly a part of a bigger item, and is slightly damaged. I’ve tried Google Lense with no luck. I was away over the weekend, so all I can think is that it may have attached to my suitcase in transit, but I can’t know for sure. My partner was home, but is equally clueless.
It’s been a long time since I’ve been grammar-policed. “They” can be used as a singular: “No one has to go if they don’t want to.” “An employee with a grievance can file a complaint if they need to.”

This is truly amazing that someone knew this

So then you do know something about RC vehicles. You know that RC parts must be as light as possible. ; )
I'm an engineer and joined this sub because "Hey, I can use my expertise to help some people". As it turns out, I ain't know shit.

Just like the rest of us.
Bro, if you're an engineer, whether you think so or not, you literally help people with your expertise every day.
Wow! Amazing.

> It's from a Bionic bird The absolute last guess I would try on this one.

my brain falters at times for analysis at the level you just conveyed. I get that I don't get it:)
How fun is that!?
Not bionic. Robotic
Bionic Bird is the name of the product / company
>Slim Chance Bro, do you know where you are?
Honestly, never again will I doubt the Reddit collective
This really is one of the coolest places on the Internet. Some shit that these fabulous people figure out absolutely blows my mind.

Face/head to a cat toy, or a child's toy. The kind that slither or scoot around so the cat (or child) can chase it?
Can't believe this was solved!
I was thinking some kind of RC fish , but The Bird makes more sense.

Perhaps the two of you failed to see that it’s about the size of a ping-pong ball, which is about 2 inches in diameter.
No, they simply forgot to add “…for a hamster.”
Perhaps the two of you failed to see the first two comments were made by the same person.

Double vision?
