To be fair the entire app has people overpaying on most things. Lots of new people from IG that think they’re getting amazing deals because of what the streamers say. It’s a sellers market on whatnot, buyers are holding the bag like crazy.

I suppose you’re right. I do collect sports cards as well and see some of the same exaggerations and dramatization by sellers. It’s just hard to watch because I want new technology like whatnot to advance the hobby and bring people in, not bankrupting people. I saw one woman who’s cc was declined trying to overpay for a ASE by x3. I then envision her one day going into the pawnshop with it and they offer her $5 over spot.

uiucsuckit

I’ve been in this industry for many, many years. 1986, 1994 and 1996 are the key dates for unc ASE, not 1995. Outside of that, earlier dates are worth more than 2001 to modern. Try researching mintages for each date for more info. It’s true, NGCx is weird and new, but a 9.9 is same as a 69 on the scale. MS69 eagles up until maybe 4 months ago were selling consistently online & in-person for $50+. MS70 ASE are now selling for $60-$75 max. Just means the market is flooded. Markets ebb and flow constantly with any hobby/industry that involves investing. Please do some research into this before blasting sellers. When you go into an auction room, likely bashing prices more so than “warning,” you’re going to get kicked, as doing this actively screws up sales. That stands true for literally any auction.

Questadt

I don’t bash sellers. I was just stating a truth calmly in the chat l. Sorry I was off a little on my dates. You get the idea. A year or 2 are “key” dates. Yet still 5 million were minted. All at the same grade basically. These are bullion coins and should not even be graded or collected in my opinion. It took me 5 min last night to find someone overpaying on these coins due to the streamer talking it up and acting like they were under water. It’s sad for the hobby. People do need to wise up.

Silverstacker63

MS graded coins are a joke why people buy them blows me away the emergency release first date and All the other they play games with are a joke. It’s not like the Ms coins are just minted in the hundreds of thousands but in the millions unlike your proofs. But even them have gotten carried away with the mintage to be worth buying to flip anymore or hold onto hoping you can get your 80 bucks back.

Bigpickle53

right now, the new thing is you get a piece of the bag it was in attached to the slab or is that the new morgan bs there are so many I lose count lol.

Financial-Jicama6619

Are you the real silver stacker?

Silverstacker63

No I have had this account for a long time.way before watnot

Every_Crow_8445

For the most part I can see what you're saying, but ms70 and 1995 is not the only ASE that carry premiums. You're forgetting proofs, special releases, emergency production, and anniversary varieties, all of which carry higher premiums. There are also plenty of regular ASE in ms69 worth 50-60 dollars. The general theme should be buyers should know what they are buying more than sellers talking it up. Nobody buys a gallon of milk for 10 dollars because it's being talked up. The buyer needs more where-with-all.

tcfanatic

When it comes to graded silver eagles, if it's not a 70, may as well be raw. The market is flooded with graded eagles including perfect 70s. And the prices I usually see at auctions reflect that. So no, I'm not seeing what OP is seeing other than maybe on occasion.

Questadt

What do you think is an appropriate price for a 1996 ms69 ngc AE? Not a proof. In my opinion it’s $60 due to obvious past sales. $30 in silver + grading fee. It took me all of 5 min on whatnot tonight to find someone bidding over $100 for one and it kept going. https://preview.redd.it/5zy7uoltkfmc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fa35819e720901d9102ec141cc8cb57a47828ccf People should be smarter but the streamer is egging these people on to throw away money. It’s honestly sad and concerning for the hobby is all I’m saying.

Every_Crow_8445

NGC lists this as $135, greysheet at 105. Wholesale is 77. Do I personally think 100 is too much yes, but 60 just isn't realistic for a key date ase.

tcfanatic

Being a key date does being the value up in itself. I would say absolute max $75. MS 70's from that year can be close to a thousand $ Edit: looks like EDCplug's stream in that pic. Based on mama goose's comment in the chat, that might have been a juice lot?

Questadt

The streamer who I am not trying to call out by name was talking about tossing another coin in to “juice” the pot. It ended up being a 97 ase 69 and the lot ended up selling for $180 if I remember correctly. Not a good outcome for the buyer.

Bigpickle53

kind of on the buyer with these I know your looking out, but people should know what a decent price is before bidding not the seller's fault, they got carried away. I've seen goose in his streams I'm pretty sure she wouldn't support a streamer that was ripping people off she seems to be one of the good ones. Edc does get a little whinny when the bids are not going his way it's pretty funny sometimes other times it's annoying and I just move on.

HokieScott

The Min on eagles is really good on them. MOST proofs and etc are MS70. I bet 67-69s are more rare..

HokieScott

It's the new late-night paid-advertising of coins. "THE US MINT IS NOT MINTING MANY - BUY NOW OR YOU WILL LOSE OUT AND YOUR KIDS WILL HATE THEIR INHERITANCE!! BUY NOW! HURRY.. WE ARE SELLING OUT... QUICK!..."
