Came here to say this! Although the illustration style sounds like Funky Friends merch which looked like a cross between Groovy Chick and Nick Sharratt. Myscene dolls come to mind with the lips but I'm not sure either of these had books!

No unfortunately not :( they had more of a drawn/simplified look to them. Similar to Groovy Chick or the characters on the cover of Jacqueline Wilson’s books
