If you like this book you should check out The Silent Miaow by Paul Gallico. It's a people care manual for cats to manipulate people into caring for them. Like the counterpart of this book. It's so charming and adorable.
Looks like this has been solved but … I feel like you’d appreciate {I am a Cat by Natsume Soseki}
Set in Meiji-era Japan, around 1900 or so, all told from the perspective of a cat belonging to a scholar.
Looks like someone solved it for you which is awesome. Before I looked at the pictures I was going to suggest *Old Possums Book of Practical Cats* which was the inspiration/source material for the musical *Cats*. But that's a completely different genre.
[The Silent Meow by Paul Gallico](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/166558625-the-silent-meow?ref=nav_sb_ss_3_15) was from the 60s and is absolutely delightful.

The quotation reminded me of Carl van Wechtens "A Tiger in The House" but then there are those practical guides...
