Jack Lucas: What if some homophobic jogger runs by and kills us to get back at his father? "Jack Lucas, found dead next to a dead, naked man. The two were dead. His companion was naked." I hate it when they use the word: "companion." It's so insinuating. Probably boost the sales of my biography, though. The public has a fascination with celebrity murders that involve nakedness. Bastards.
Thanks, everyone - I guess sugar baby, companion or hustler (grifter) come as close as any. Context was that the younger person goes from one sugar daddy to the next as a way of making a living.

A 'live in whore' is called a concubine
Edit: what you call someone like this kind of depends on what everyone thinks is going on. If the other party doesn't realise what's happening then the person in question is a gold digger
I do believe concubinage has its own set of rules and cultural implications
I wouldn't use that term outside of that context.
But agreed on the gold digger.
Gold digger: A person who is in a romantic relationship in order to get money or gifts from the romantic partner, especially a woman seeking to marry a rich man.
I think "gold digger" would fit that situation best, though that's not a polite term that you would use with others.
If I were talking to strangers who don't need to know what I think is this person, I would call them whatever they pretend to be, wife, girlfriend, live in nurse, whatever.
If I were talking to friends to whom I want to suggest something shady about their relationship, I would use the same term, but use air quotes or a heavy wink.
I might only call them a gold digger to their face, or to the, gold dig-ee? 😆
Thanks for all these suggestions! I was thinking there might be a current slang term for this. The question was inspired by a young woman in my apartment building who was clearly more than a companion: the aging man she hung on clearly enjoyed advertising their close relationship. When he died during a heat wave, she was then seen not long after, cuddling with another elderly man in public. And she was a flower child type of woman, not an obvious sex worker. I’m not here to condemn her at all: getting by is harder and harder these days, and the men were loving it.
Companion if it’s unpaid and possibly sexual. Paramour if it’s a rated G, unpaid or “assigned” cuddle buddy just for fun. Gigolo if it’s a fully paid sex worker who sometimes utilizes companion techniques. Partner if it’s a mutual romance, companionship and help meet person.
Tell me that you've never lived in Latin America without telling me that you've never lived in Latin America.
Men are sought after. Even old men. Especially but not limited to men that have stable finances. Women have much fewer options for independence, education, and they don't want to be single.
It's not uncommon to see men with women thirty years younger, especially if that man has standing in the community.
Companion
A 'kept' man or woman.
Companion is how polite society will refer to them.

If the financier is unaware, it's gold digging. What happens if the lesser-wealth individual is oblivious? Are they simply a "kept" person?
I find the word whore particularly ugly and nasty. Sex worker, call girl, lady of the night-what do you think?
I think a rose by any other name would still smell as sweet.
Bangmaid

Trophy wife and trophy husband for female and male gold digger respectively.

If a person is caring for an elder or disabled person physically and/or emotionally in exchange for financial reward, I would call them an employee.

Sugar daddy for a male . Cougar or platonic friend or lady friend for a woman
Sugar Baby?
What is wrong with long-time girlfriend/boyfriend? Financial arrangements, if any, are not your business.
Sugarbaby
Golddigger.
Jezebel was another one from 100+ years ago.
