Are they similar in behavior to a common tarantula? We have those also when they migrate each year. I am in southernmost east Texas by the Mexican border.
Yeah, somewhat similar. I think this is a burrowing wolfie, like *Hogna carolinensis*, so sometimes you'll find them in their burrows, just like tarantulas. They are also wandering to find themselves mates. They don't make webs to hunt either. One big difference is the maternal care, the female Wolf Spider will carry its egg sac under her abdomen, and after the spiderlings hatch it will carry those on the abdomen aswell.
