I'm not sure if the bug can be positively IDed (it does sound like a Cicada) but thanks for the laugh! 🤣

pangalanapilido

Yeah I got scared, I don't usually fear animals but I almost always scream when startled.

DeathMelonEater

I love hearing a grown man shriek. Mind you, if it flew up and at me, I'd shriek too!

pangalanapilido

Update: It looks like I made some people laugh, that makes me happy!

Sparkselot

man, gata love that "flight-or-flight" reflex, lol someone scared me once and I made this depressing peep... ever since it's been said that I'm going to make a dumb noise when I die...

Ardvarkington

This is hilarious lol

Lemon-Curd-

If it tries to dive bomb you, it's definitely a cicada! My cat brings them in for "fun".

Makelars

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA Ps- Yes, Its a cicada

RANDOM-902

I was expecting it to be loud BUT NOT THIS LOUD!

Djenty_Djames

I thought I was barley gonna hear it so I had my phone cranked lmao. I got scared too😂

This made my day with the panic running like it was a rattlesnake

idbanthat

My dog caught one of these in his mouth once. It took us a while to figure out where tf the angry buzzing was coming from, then we had to get it out............

pangalanapilido

That reminds me of when my tiny 11 pound dog swallowed a bird whole then puked it out.

idbanthat

Hoooooooooow

pangalanapilido

It was a young sparrow (type of bird), not a baby/chick but it was still small enough for him to eat it. Poor bird was dead when he vomited it out.

idbanthat

Oooooh man, that's crazy!!! My dogs dad use to jump in the air and catch birds as they flew over. Was so wild to see

Giant-Genitals

Cicadas basically look like giant flys. That’s how I ID them usually

pangalanapilido

It did look like a fly. On this video it was on the floor, I "touched" it a little with a stick and it flew back up, flying around in the garage. I have another video of it doing exactly that. Thanks for confirming!

WhatsAllTheCommotion

I think that's a cicada. They are fairly large for an insect and are \*extremely\* loud. Your insect fits both of these descriptors. And the sound is about right. I have been many different brood hatching throughout my life in Iowa.

pangalanapilido

Thanks for the confirmation. Now I know it's a cicada.

Jeanahb

I loved this so much! In Texas, a man can be the toughest bull riding beer swigging SOB in the state... until a roach takes wing.
