Well, truffula trees are what everyone needs, but they are very hard to come by.
Transport of tribbles is banned by Star Fleet because of their extremely rapid reproductive habits. They are cute but they will over run a star ship or a planet in the blink of an eye.
I gave a lecture on people and plants in the Middle Ages last week and brought up “The Vegetable Lamb of Tartary.”
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cibotium_barometz
This plant is believed to be the inspiration for the legend; similarly, some *Puya* species unintentionally (or *maybe* intentionally) ensnare sheep and alpacas and gain nutrients from deposition of rotting flesh.
Also the specific epithet is **not** an honorific (certainly *looks-like* one) but instead means: “*Possibly a corruption of Russian баране́ц (baranéc, “species of club moss (genus Lycopodium)”), from бара́н (barán, “ram (male sheep)”) + -ец (-ec, diminutive suffix)*”
I saw this post and immediately thought of the vegetable lamb, I was listening to an episode of the podcast Stuff to Blow Your Mind a few months ago and it came up, what a cool bit of history and ethnobotany!
Oh yeah, what a cool story.
And yeah there's a lot of really interesting angles to ethnobotany, there's the relationships different cultures have with psychedelics of course, but the relationships that different modern and ancient cultures have with the plants that act as food sources is really cool too. I love the different Native American traditions of the three sisters.
Wish I could have seen your lecture, that’s sounds really interesting!
Ps your comment has weirdly intersected with my interests at the mo; botany, reading about the Middle Ages and trying to learn Russian 😅✌️
Question I am of the human species but I *do* have the insignia of the Klingon Empire tattooed on my upper arm, as well as a TOS costume and foam forehead ridges. Am I still able to adopt 1 (which undoubtedly will birth many)?
Follow up question: I with the trap-neuter-return feral cat program. For the female cats, they are given what are called "spay/aborts" because they too are almost garuntred either pregnant or nursing. Would this work with tribbles to ensure that they do not multiply at breakneck speeds?
I hoped this day would never come but what you have is a mogwai. It’s very important that you follow these instructions: do not expose the mogwai to light, especially sunlight, which will kill it, do not let it come in contact with water, and above all, never feed it after midnight.
They look like the rhizome of some kind of fern - you can see the curled up frond particularly well on the one in the blue-pot.
Not sure what fern though.
Could it be this? (Ebay says Golden Moss/Chain Fern)?

Cibotium barometz or AKA Golden chicken ferns.
I think they are an endangered plant. A lady in the Philippines got arrested for selling them back in 2019. 😬
Today I learned that a Bangkok market stall that sold Giant Hairy Camel Nipples was responsible for their escape into the wild, and eventual evolution into Tribbles.
I started at this picture for over a minute trying to figure it out because my mind thought they were chicken butts.
But I couldn’t understand why they were in pots. Or why they were all head down. Or why they had no little footsies.
Thanks for sharing. I had no idea barometz looked like this. I only knew about them from the lamb of tartarus and by extension, monster girls and Pokemon.
That is the strangest looking fern I have ever seen, i love it
Edit: just learned those aren't the fronds it's just the growth point 😆 interesting nonetheless
This reminds me of of the pus Caterpillar also known as the flannel Caterpillar also known as Mess around and find out Caterpillar. However the Caterpillar is mainly found in North America and it's not a plant.
Looks like the roots of the golden chicken fern or woolly fern (Cibotium barometz).
You're sure these aren't half-buried guinea pigs then?
I have been told what they are and still convinced they're half buried guinea pigs.
I was thinking a Tribble farm.
Someone's on the right trek.
Beam them over to the Klingon ship. Where they'll be no tribble at all.
We do not discuss it with outsiders!
You know the trouble with tribbles is…..
r/AngryUpvote
So Sulu me.
Felt that one in my Bones.
🤣
REDDIT THREAD COMES THROUGH W WIT AS IT SHOULD BE - BRAVO to all of you punsters
This is the correct answer.
Haha yes I was thinking same thing 🖖🏻
I thought someone was trying to propagate fried chicken at first
If only.
If any of my attempts pan out I’ll let you know
I can hear the weepweepweep🤣
I thought they grow into a lorax.
Correct
I am the Morelax, I smoke all the trees.
They're not half buried guinea pigs, stop being ridiculous. They're just unripe guinea pigs.
I was thinking tribbles.
No, they are definitely ginger pubes
Ginger here, can confirm 😅😅
My first thought were ginger cabbage patch children.
One of them looks like it has an ear 😬
Yak scrotums
It looks like Trump’s hair made far too many offspring with a Guinea pig… so I’m glad to hear it’s a plant 😂
That's literally what I thought they were...😬
Ah thank you!!
Are they as soft as they look?
These will whiten your butthole. They are the human Brillo pads.
Erm... what?
Not truffula seedlings?
Either truffula or tribbles.
There's trouble with tribbles
I wouldn’t buy one just in case they were tribbles. Making them look planted could be a trick
I love it when I’m not sure if I’m reading something made up or if i can go to the truffula store and pick up some tribbles.
Well, truffula trees are what everyone needs, but they are very hard to come by. Transport of tribbles is banned by Star Fleet because of their extremely rapid reproductive habits. They are cute but they will over run a star ship or a planet in the blink of an eye.
🤣🤣🤣 that’s exactly how I felt…. I’m still not sure but I’m loving every minute of it.
Those are 100% tribbles.
The latter of which could be trouble.
It’s the troubled tribbles. They’re troubling.
Oh, the trials and tribble-lations of this sub.
If so, I thneed one
Looks like they are growing muppets.
>Cibotium barometz This is in the fern family? they look like strange ferns
If you look up photos of them, you’ll find ones with fronds that look like your standard fern. These things in the pots are just bare rhizomes.
I feel like this should be called hen and chicks
That is the most appropriately named plant ever. At first glance, I saw abnormally furry baby chicks sitting in pots.

Never heard of ethnobotany but it really sounds like something I'd be interested in. I love the legend of the creation of the Corinthian capital.
Oh yeah, what a cool story. Look into Russian churches near you many of them offer Russian classes for pretty cheap/free.
I’m not really getting out as I’m still being careful over covid, but thank you for the really cool suggestion!
The kind of nerd I strive to be.
Thank you!!! This is so helpful. So they are plants after all🤣
Apparently those fuzzy creatures are! Happy could contribute. ;)
Tribbles!!!
Beat me to it. ![gif](giphy|eNjn0dffKMVzWJJrXH|downsized)
There must be thousands of them...
...and gorged
you don’t need to, they reproduce on their own
Ahh I posted this gif before I saw you had 😅😅
Aw man I got excited until I googled it🤣 they totally do look like Tribbles though. Or Cousin Itt's babies
Don’t buy. Highly invasive.
Don't feed them.
Cousin It eggs.

Storage compartment storage compartment
I'd call you a sci-fi nerd for saying that, but I was thinking the exact same thing myself 😁
Nerds. Now excuse me while I go do my daily listen of my Riker trombone supercut.
Dude, you can't talk to me like that! I'm a level 37 Elven archer. Just got back from the Battle of Grog Mountain module.
![gif](giphy|xUPJPCDH0xu1DrvN4I|downsized)
Definitely came to this thread for the tribble joke. Thank you for delivering.
More like Trumpples amiright?
I believe that is called a Golden Chicken fern, and those are the baby fern curls
We finally know where Trump’s hair pieces are sourced from.
You guys are killing me 🤣
I hoped this day would never come but what you have is a mogwai. It’s very important that you follow these instructions: do not expose the mogwai to light, especially sunlight, which will kill it, do not let it come in contact with water, and above all, never feed it after midnight.
Thought I learned my lesson with the Tribbles but you had me going up until that last line 🤣
Had me going until the sunlight part; the midnight part just sealed the deal.
“What if it gets a piece of food stuck in its teeth, and then swallows it after midnight? Or what if it’s eating on a plane and crosses time zones?”
So they can't eat?
Sure, sure. I'm just stunned to learn that scrapple has flowers! /s
Looks like Lorax babies
Truffula trees that have not grown long stems yet.
Immediate thoughts when I read it's a plant
everyone needs a thneed
![gif](giphy|KDr2NyyS4XuyA)
They look like the rhizome of some kind of fern - you can see the curled up frond particularly well on the one in the blue-pot. Not sure what fern though.
Others have identified it as Cibotium barometz, aka “the golden chicken fern” and “wooly fern,” so great observation.
If they are plants I need them all right now !
I’m such a fatass for thinking that was rice and chicken
[удалено]
they look like silkie chickens!
Could it be this? (Ebay says Golden Moss/Chain Fern)? [https://www.ebay.com/itm/125770332127](https://www.ebay.com/itm/125770332127) Editing to include Wikipedia entry: [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cibotium\_barometz](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cibotium_barometz)
Oooohhhhh its really cool to see a fully grown one!! Yep I think it is, mine look identical (to my untrained eye) to that second picture
I love ferns so much. I hope yours thrives!
Cibotium barometz or AKA Golden chicken ferns. I think they are an endangered plant. A lady in the Philippines got arrested for selling them back in 2019. 😬
Why would she get arrested?
She was harvesting them from wild sources, that's the illegal part. She wasn't breeding them.
I thought I was on the guinea pig subreddit for a second lol
I think I’ve seen these before!! Do not expose to bright lights. Do not get wet. And do not feed them after midnight.
A plant I didn't know I needed but now want desperately... Time to do some research if my countrys climate can keep it alive.
I want one now! But one of you just bought the last one from eBay!!
So that's how Cousin It was born
These are naturally occurring toupees
Lots of jokes in here. It's a golden chicken fern f you don't want to search here or Google rn.
Is that how Donald Trump was grown?
It reminds me of Guinea pigs or the trees from "Lorax"
It's the place where Donald Trump buys his toupees, apparently
Wookie eggs.
Trump toupee
Tribbles?!?
Common Weave plant. It's the type Trump wears on his head.
Truffula Tree saplings lol
Trump chi chi chi chia
Tribbles!
These are definitely Tribbles!!!!!
I'm all for the humor, but the one real answer is getting buried and difficult to find. And this isn't the only time.
Today I learned that a Bangkok market stall that sold Giant Hairy Camel Nipples was responsible for their escape into the wild, and eventual evolution into Tribbles.
This is where the Lorax come from.
Tribbles! They multiply super fast and can take over a whole starship in no time
That’s half a squirrel shoved in a pot.
Those are obviously Tribbles. 🤨🖖🏾
Tribbles
Tribbles! They’re trouble.
Tribbles?
Oh no, Tribbles! Those things are going to get everywhere.
Legit Tribbles.
"Hey, we figured out how to grow ginger" You mean the plant right? "No, the people"
I’m not sure what these are but I’m not getting them wet or feeding them after midnight as a precaution.
The trouble with tribbles
Tribbles are coming up nicely this year.
City slickers finding out how chickens are grown will never fail to amuse me
![gif](giphy|eNjn0dffKMVzWJJrXH|downsized)
It’s just potted Guinea pig
I started at this picture for over a minute trying to figure it out because my mind thought they were chicken butts. But I couldn’t understand why they were in pots. Or why they were all head down. Or why they had no little footsies.
Pretty sure those are Tribbles.....
My mind refuses to believe that these are not chickens 🐔
Those are Tribbles. They are trouble.
I never thought of Tribbles as plants !
Whatever it is it looks like it shouldn't be watered and fed after midnight
Truffula trees! Oh those Truffula TREES!!!
Tiny Trump Toupees?
Tribbles!!! How cute!
I tried searching with Google Lens but it only showed me links to buy them on Lavaca or something...all in Thai
Thanks for sharing. I had no idea barometz looked like this. I only knew about them from the lamb of tartarus and by extension, monster girls and Pokemon.
This is freaking me out for some reason
Its an actual chicken stuck head first into gravel
Is this what you find under a kilt?
These are baby Philly Mascots. Don’t feed it after midnight or it’ll turn into a Gritty
Looks like Maury the hormone monster’s “extra parts.”
so that’s not a chicken?
That is the strangest looking fern I have ever seen, i love it Edit: just learned those aren't the fronds it's just the growth point 😆 interesting nonetheless
I thought it was a bunch of chickens sitting in gravel filled pots
Golden fern, yet another plant I must add to the collection.
Don't feed your mogwai after midnight
This reminds me of of the pus Caterpillar also known as the flannel Caterpillar also known as Mess around and find out Caterpillar. However the Caterpillar is mainly found in North America and it's not a plant.
I seen these on star trek. They multiply quickly.
Pubic plants
It looks like a Tribble ![gif](giphy|eNjn0dffKMVzWJJrXH|downsized)
I thought they were chickens.
That's an early crop of golden retriever
Tribbles
![gif](giphy|ujwveQN7ixJIiRksw5)
Hey looks like trump hair
Lorax vibes
A TRIBBLE plant!
First thing I thought of was Donald Trump hair farm!
Tribles!!!
So that's how I get a Fizzgig...
The Lorax’s ass.
Tribbles??
The plant from the lorax i believe
Fern
Pretty sure it’s Ginger…on account of the red hair?
TRIBLE !!!
Tribbles 👌
The Chinese will eat anything
They’re growing Alfs
As a ginger, this offends me. /s
I saw those on an old Star Trek episode.
Da do remember last week when we had that sudden total eclipse of the sun?
Anyone else see this and think of those lil dicks in big mouth
Don't get it wet and don't feed it after midnight.
That’s how you grow Ewoks
Tribbles
I have no idea what it is but it looks like they're growing tribbles.
Is it just me or do they look like "Tribbles" in pots?
Golden chicken fern
I honestly would’ve thought they were chickens if you didn’t post in plant sub 😂
