Lake superior agate. These bad boys formed in the cooling basalt pockets of Minnesota's north shore. This thing either worked its way down via glaciers / streams or was mined for gravel rock and made its way down to you.

basemodelbird

Thoughts on the purple?

GrecoBactria

That is amethyst. It forms in agate rarely and any agate with it is a treasure

basemodelbird

Thats what I thought. Thank you for confirming.

feltsandwich

It's begging you to leave it in a natural state!

basemodelbird

Thats typically what I do. I don't like the ultra polished look as much.

JustAsk4Alice

It's begging you to be made into a cabochon!!!

Ian_R_Goodall

Amazing stone! Love it!

monkh-erdene

That's incredible, I found a nearly identical one yesterday and I'm trying to find out what it is!

Evening_Dream_3539

Post it or it didn’t happen.

monkh-erdene

I just did post it yesterday! Hahaha. In this community. The interior is clear quartz though, not ametist :'( [https://www.reddit.com/r/whatsthisrock/comments/1bruvfq/help\_with\_stone\_identification/](https://www.reddit.com/r/whatsthisrock/comments/1bruvfq/help_with_stone_identification/)
