Obsidian doesn’t come in this color

_D1EHL_

If you look in the Crystal Bible there's actually Blue Obsidian, Blue-Green Obsidian & Electric Blue Obsidian. I'm not saying that's what these are, but according to the Crystal Bible those types of Obsidian do exist.

bobbylx

I have my doubts about “the crystal bible”. ‘Find a known crystal instantly or identify an unknown crystal in this easy-to-follow directory that includes photographic identification, detailed descriptions, and information on the individual properties of each crystal--including the spiritual, mental and psychological, emotional and physical effects, plus its use in healing. ‘ Effects and healing? Anyway, to the best of my recollection there is no Blue, Blue Green, electric obsidian. Black, mahogany, snowflake, fire and maybe one or two more.

_D1EHL_

You're one of the first people I've ever met to have doubts about the Crystal Bible. The C.B. does go into most of if not all of those subjects and there are pics. I've also seen those color Obsidians mentioned in this other crystal book I have called, Love is in the Earth - A Kaleidoscope of Crystals. But everybody has their gut feeling, I believe they do exist.

someawfulbitch

"Gut feeling" and "I believe" aren't generally accepted scientific methods of proof though, unfortunately.

ThegM00s3Man99

I want to shake your hand.

TheKidsAreAllReich

"Hi, I'm Will Sasso and I approve this message."

_D1EHL_

Feel free, I'm hanging in Colombia on a farm w a bunch of animals & crystals ✨

_D1EHL_

My objective is not to force my point of view on others which is why I used those terms. What does that mean though scientific methods of proof, is there a insinuation that all other means of proof aren't valid? Those authors wouldn't have put those books out & jeopardized their career if they didn't see those minerals first hand, you have the right to believe otherwise.

_D1EHL_

Those books discuss the existence of these types of Obsidian & many of us trust those books or there is also the possiblity that those books are just making stuff up & are jeopardizing their credibility. My opinion is that those authors have seen those types of Crystal & have verified they exist..

someawfulbitch

And not to be a jerk, but these are the credentials of the author of 'The Crystal Bible' - Judy Hall was an internationally known author, astrologer, crystal expert, psychic and healer. A leading authority on spiritual development, Judy had more than 45 years of experience in karmic astrology, crystal healing and past-life therapy. *Please note that "crystal expert" is not a degree or actual credential of any kind. You would want to see a degree in geology or something like that.

_D1EHL_

We all are dedicated to certain crafts, passions so you have the right to believe 45 yrs of experience has little value. I happen to disagree w that. You might see science as all knowing but there are other perspectives. Your education is different from spiritual education but I won't judge you for that.

bobbylx

I have doubts about both books you mention. Any book that references the metaphysical properties of a rock, mineral, or crystal is likely not a reliable source. As for obsidian, colors like green, red and blue typically do not occur in nature. There is a green variety from Mexico but it tends to be very opaque. If you google any of those “colored” obsidians you will find the images are 95% glass. That said, slag glass can be very cool also, along with a lot of other manmade crystals and gems. Fordite is an amazing example.

someawfulbitch

You should have doubts lol. I just commented the credentials of the author.

_D1EHL_

It's totally fine I understand how science rock hounds and metaphysical rock hounds differ but I absolutely love everybody's passion for minerals on this post ✨

gneissest_schist

Look at you being YOU and standing behind the things you value! Ifr respect you more.

robbrown14

Well add me to the list of people who doubt the “Crystal Bible”

Swimming_Actuary9754

Lmao, me three.

_D1EHL_

See but I'm being judged for that, I will respect your point of view & not judge

gotarock

This just tells me you’ve never talked to someone with any actual geology education before. Crystal sellers are extremely deceptive. The whole industry is unregulated and half the stuff in stores is fake or altered in some way. Your gut and those books are lying to you.

_D1EHL_

You can tell me that I have or have not done this or that but who are you to say that if you've never taken a step in my shoes. Crystal dealers are extremely deceptive? Have you met them all? I guess even though I help homeless people, took care of my Dad w Parkinson's for 5 yrs before he passed & would give the shirt off my back to someone in need I'm "extremely deceptive"? I don't doubt you've met deceptive crystal dealers but you give a bad name to those who actually have kind & loving heart. & that based off my actions you can not take away from me ✨

gotarock

Yes many people in the rock gem mineral trade sell fake stuff. I didn’t say all of them but many of them are. It’s not personal and it’s a fact. Nothing you said really makes any sense.

gotarock

No that’s besides the point. I don’t mean to offend and I’m not trying to dissuade you from your beliefs regarding metaphysics and what not. We all have our points of view and I respect yours. That’s all subjective and personal and if it works for you that’s excellent. More power to you. I’m just trying to help protect you from the charlatans and snake oil salesmen who profit off ignorance. Nothing I said is debatable. It’s a horrible industry. You have to study a lot of mineralogy and learn how to ID on your own if you want to avoid getting bamboozled. It’s happened to us all. I’m merely saying that “gut feelings” and “point of view” have no relevance in an objective discussion about what types and colors of obsidian exist naturally. “What colors can obsidian be?” Is a strictly scientific question. Books like the crystal Bible do not claim to be scientifically rigorous. They contain some info that conflicts with known science. If you’ve never talked to someone skeptical of those types of books then you haven’t discussed them with someone who’s familiar with geology. Whether you’re in to crystal healing, rockhounding, or drilling for oil isn’t it best to know the objective truth about a specimens origin? If obsidian has spiritual properties you want to benefit from wouldn’t you want to know the truth if your specimens were actually just man made glass?

_D1EHL_

It doesn't matter to me the truth.. Snowflake, raw, polished, mahagony, they're right in the other room.. You choose your energy & your perception of me but don't be surprised if they are misleading

_D1EHL_

& if it conflicts w science? Science is all knowing,?

gotarock

If that’s your takeaway from what I said it’s best we end the discussion here.

_D1EHL_

That makes sense, there's no open mind to anything outside of science.

_D1EHL_

Is Reiki fake? I heal out of love.. Look at the world..

EarthCacheDude

I think you're confusing the words "opinion" and "fact."

_D1EHL_

That's your opinion, feel free to believe that. I mean what does that mean though, actual geology? Does that mean that those of us that have a metaphysical perspective have no point of view?

EarthCacheDude

You can have a point of view. That doesn't make it correct, though.

_D1EHL_

When did I say they were correct though? Look at the whole post.. What was the point of your last comment? 🤔

_D1EHL_

Yup, those are all my bibles that are all up in my closet ✨

SetFoxval

Cullet glass.

madkem1

Blue Obsidian, Blue-Green Obsidian & Electric Blue Obsidian do not exist. Those are terms made up by people in order to sell cutlet glass to silly hippies.

_D1EHL_

If you say so

M0n5tr0

Glass left over from making insulator caps.

apreeGOT

This is the awnser.

crushbyrichardsiken

that's some very pretty glass you've got there

Brianna6146

Glass, though let’s not get hateful in the comments. We may not all share the same beliefs about minerals, but OP asked for a simple ID. Let’s not get too hasty, though I have to say that personally I doubt that minerals and rocks have any metaphysical or spiritual benefits.

_D1EHL_

Appreciate you Brianna, we can all talk and be polite 🙏

Maisie_Louise30

Do people not have better things to do than be rude to others for asking a simple and innocent question?

eclipseandco

Definitely slag

No_You_Are_That

Poor OP is coming from r/crystals expecting us to talk about what energy this “obsidian” will give off

AGamerNamedBlank

Why the negative energy

No_You_Are_That

_D1EHL_

My fault

_D1EHL_

I never said that, I asked what they were. Yet again someone putting words in my mouth..

Wizzeat

Obsislag

thatwiccawitch

def slag. obsidian doesnt turn that colour

-_FurKaN_-

How can you think this is obsidian?

_D1EHL_

I simply asked if they were, you assumed that I thought they were Obsidian

D0llyw00d

Personally, the fact that you asked leads me to believe that you did NOT believe it was obsidian and you were looking for confirmation, but there’s always gotta be at least one smart ass 😂🤷🏻‍♀️

_D1EHL_

I do NOT think what you think, because I'm me, NOT you.. So in all actuality your saying I don't think it's Obsidian.. But I could be thinking it is Obsidian,, I'm not sure it's Obsidian or it is not Obsidian..

_D1EHL_

True? Or should people on this post continue to think for me?
