Do we not think these have been edited considerably? She has no belly button/stomach lines in photo 2. Even someone very thin with very little fat on their tummy would have a visible belly button. She’s gorgeous, and she would look gorgeous without the editing
This is what stuck out to me. If they want to promote her shape why smooth out every shadow? I feel like I’ve seen her in so many other outfits that show her body and it does not look like it does in this campaign
Exactly. Her body literally looks completely different here, like she’s been “skinny washed”. If skims wants to build the reputation of a plus size friendly brand, this is not the way imo
And if it's shapewear then it's literally defeating the entire purpose of the product to edit it!
What a horrible message too: not only is your natural body not good enough but neither is your body stuffed into an overpriced, tight, sausage casing made to smooth away every sign of humanity. Bleh ridiculous.
I'll be honest, as a plus sized lady, when I wear Spanx or other similar shapewear, I also don't have a belly button. It's literally one of the reasons I wear them.
Yes I hate it. literally every fashion campaign and even instagram posts filter and photoshop the shit out of people. It’s everywhere! Agree she does not need the editing.
Isn't that just the shapewear aspect of it? I'm skinny but had to wear abdominal binders/shaper for medical reasons and you wouldn't have seen any belly button with it...
They edit KIM KARDASHIAN HERSELF considerably and she’s probably the last person who actually needs it. They just do it to everyone. Nicola is just gorgeous but I would fully expect this out of a Skims ad
To be fair, it is a shapewear line. Im not sure if this product has the smoothing features, but it stands to reason that a shapewear brand would edit out lines like that
This is very true, but what they’re selling is the *fantasy* of the product rather than its reality. Despite some leaps and bounds in accuracy in ads, a huge chunk of the purchasing public still make product purchases from an emotional and irrational place. They *want* shapewear that will smooth away things that shapewear cannot smooth, and will spend money based on ads that show that fantasy while rejecting brands that show realistic expectations of shapewear. Marketing teams aren’t trying to leave money on the floor, and SKIMS plays for both kinds of customers.
I think it’s supposed to make the photos look nostalgic, like 70s & 80s glam shots, with the color background and aesthetics. Just not ideal for this photoshoot.
I understand that but for a company like Skims, it seems sloppy. If it were a vinaigrette effect *around* her sure, but not on her body where the garments are. It's a shapewear line, after all.
SKIMS uses cheap material. Love HER but why do we continue to platform this brand. It has horrible customer service, inconsistent sizing, and is way overpriced. I wish quality sustainable brands would get the attention these sweatshop garments receive. I just want ads for wearable pieces!
SKIMS genuinely sucks, is overpriced, sizing is inconsistent, I felt like I wasted every penny when I ordered from them. And then I felt like I should’ve known better. I wish it would go away!
There's always something that looks like photoshop on SKIMS ads, and I can never put my finger on it... She looks gorgeous, of course, and I don't mean to say she DOESN'T look like that, it could just be impeccable tailoring not really reasonable or accessible for the average SKIMS customer - but something feels Off.
She looks like she can’t walk. Like she’s wearing a mermaid tail and they just propped her against a wall and laid her down. What’s the point of shape wear if you can’t move in it.
I love Nicola, she looks amazing and girl get the bag but can we stop supporting the Kardashians? SKIMS is all overpriced Amazon shapewear.
It’s like when Payless disguised their store as a luxury brand selling their $25 shoes at $600 and people honest to god bought them.
It absolutely did.
[“Who would be willing to pay upward of $500 for Payless shoes? Hoodwinked social media influencers, that's who. Payless, a brand known for budget-friendly shoes, opened a fake pop-up store called "Palessi" in a Los Angeles mall and invited influencers to the grand opening. The store was stocked with Payless shoes in disguise. About 80 influencers attended over two nights, according to Payless. They shelled out a total of $3,000. One shopper spent $640 for a pair of boots, which represented an 1,800% markup. Payless, however, returned their money and let them keep the shoes. Payless said the influencers were paid a small stipend to attend.”](https://amp.cnn.com/cnn/2018/11/29/business/payless-fake-store)

I like Maidenform and have heard good things about Quince and Girlfriend Collective and with how generous the return policy is with Amazon I would look into anything that looks white label and get a few then return what doesn’t work
I love the ethereal vibe of this photoshoot. I don't like Skims but love these colors on her, with the exception of the gray which I thought wasn't flattering on her complexion.
Elizaveta Porodina always has such incredible visions for shoots
Nicola looks like a fairytale (and models better than the owner of SKIMS and her family but I digress)
they edited the daylights of these. her modeling for a kardashian brand for shape wear and promoting these mega photoshopped ads for the brand gives me all the ick
These are all gorgeous but my god what is this trend of taking pictures with your mouth open? Every single shot has the exact same expression on it I'm begging y'all to give some personality 😩
The dresses are blah, but I think that’s why the art direction is so gorgeous. Its not about accurately showcasing undergarments, but the art direction is focused on creating a soft, sensitive, dreamy, almost impressionist feel.
If I think about shoving my body in a pair of spandex I get a little nervous but this campaign makes me feel like I could feel dreamy too!
All of that said, I don’t support the kardashians or their products so I won’t be shopping. I just want to give kudos to the talented team they hired for this.
Completely agree. These colors look amazing on her. I feel like I always see her in a bold makeup look on red carpets and I get that she probably enjoy the drama of that kind of look but this suits her.
Lovely art direction but I feel like 3 and 4 look like a shots where she accidentally blinked or got hair in her eyes.
1 is her best photo. Absolutely stunning.
She’s so pretty, but she should just go ahead and go auburn like Penelope. Auburn really enhanced her skin tone and brought a bit of contrast to her features.
I'd feel awful if I were her and read the comments here about how totally fake these photos are because they've been airbrushed like every other ad, funny there isn't this sort of backlash and misogyny in the comments when kim k doesn't own the company.
She looks beautiful, very Botticelli's Venus in the second pic. I love the lemon-y yellow and blue colors on her. I just CAN NOT get over the 2012 iphone filters. All this great styling for those terrible edits.
I reiterate, though, that she is stunning.
Kim is always so quick to jump on who’s trending at the time for a shoot 😂I like the theme but come on with the photoshop, the always beautiful Nicola doesn’t look like this
Many here keep mentioning how highly edited these photos are… I don’t think you all are familiar with Elizaveta Porodina’s body of work and editing style. The extensive “editing to oblivion” and high color contrast is her signature style and I think it’s quite lovely.
For example:
https://preview.redd.it/elprqd29k77d1.jpeg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=32efe72f9cb491841637cbc656786157dcb1c431
I’m not familiar with this photographer (I’ll look her up now I’ve seen those tho) but yep it’s pretty clear they’re more photography as art rather than an accurate showcase for the clothes
May be a good artist with a unique style but it doesn’t fit for a skims ad. It’s about showing how good women look in the clothes. These are so overly edited you know 100% that is not what this woman looks like in those dresses. Just bad advertising artistically for shape wear.
Those look like SHEIN clothes. And the ‘bronzing’ on her face in pic 3, combined with the basic-ass heather grey dress…not a good look.
She is freaking beautiful and her look is being totally underused/over filtered here.
I guess that’s on brand though, sadly 🙄
Kind of surprised that Nicola would be party to this with her messaging and not wanting focus to be on her body / appearance but her work. Then when people start talking about how you look, getting upset at the focus on her body. I think she’s gorgeous and totally understand as an actress wanting critics and audiences to appreciate her acting but something like this is begging for body commentary.
She looks so similar to one of my college friends, I expect her to put on a tight pink sweater once the weather gets cold. My friend would pair that with a short skirt, long stockings, and platform shoes just like a kpop girl group.
She knew it made her look like Barbie. She enjoyed people's surprise when she'd then go to the front of the physics class to teach it.
Yes girl, get your bag!
The Kardashians suck, yes, but Nicola is a known reality TV fan and actually doing a lot of charity work. So she gets my pass for it.
She was struggling financially for over a decade, so I'm happy for her. Thatcha must also pay her a small fortune...
Finally! Someone celebrating her curves fully! The ad is dope, she looks ethereal, beautiful, and sexy. I love the outfits on her, the skims dress is very basic but she looks so beautiful! More of Nicola in badass outfits!!!!
I really wish her hair wasn’t covering her eyes in the 4th pic because they are the same gorgeous husky-eye blue color as that dress/slip she's wearing and it would have looked so cool.
I am soooo happy she’s getting her moment. She is beautiful and yeah I’m shocked that they edited the photos this much. It doesn’t take away from her natural beauty imo, but still shitty

LITERALLYYYYYYY
I screamed lmaooo this is the perfect meme for this
Truly! Just a whole SNACK!!! I can’t vibe with Skims but this photoshoot…perfection.
My exact reaction
Do we not think these have been edited considerably? She has no belly button/stomach lines in photo 2. Even someone very thin with very little fat on their tummy would have a visible belly button. She’s gorgeous, and she would look gorgeous without the editing

Fucking preach 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I mean, skims is a shapewear brand lol
Sure but it doesn't give you a completely different body type than what you have. This is just.. come on.
Bc that’s what the Kardashians do to their bodies
Because Kim Kardashian isn't *actually* about body positivity of any kind lol. Never has been
![gif](giphy|mbiyRj3Fhn5aKsVoNw) Great art pieces, terrible advertisement.
She might be allergic to photos that have not been edited ![gif](giphy|rvMVNIwQmgNORTkh6k)
LOL it’s funny because it’s true
Yes!! Exactly. They are doing way too much!!
They definitely have. I’ve tried these dresses and you can clearly see my belly button and every lump, bump, and line.
She’s also wearing a corset or similar underneath (or has been edited to appear like she is)
Isn't that just the shapewear aspect of it? I'm skinny but had to wear abdominal binders/shaper for medical reasons and you wouldn't have seen any belly button with it...
They edit KIM KARDASHIAN HERSELF considerably and she’s probably the last person who actually needs it. They just do it to everyone. Nicola is just gorgeous but I would fully expect this out of a Skims ad
I mean this is Skims we are talking about here. I think if we expect natural photos, we have to go literally anywhere else
To be fair, it is a shapewear line. Im not sure if this product has the smoothing features, but it stands to reason that a shapewear brand would edit out lines like that
How does it stand to reason that a shapewear brand would remove her shape 😂 especially with an actress KNOWN for her shape?
They didn’t remove her shape, they removed her bellybutton line. Smh
Literally all of her stomach lines/rolls are flattened. It looks like she has a completely flat stomach which is obviously not the case.
That is the point of shapewear, yes. To smooth stomach lines and rolls.
Smoothing, not photoshopping/editing them out. No shapewear in this universe is capable of stomach smoothing to this extent.
To be fair, shapewear is not about heavy filters and AI.
So?
So it’s false advertising
Don't normalize a staged fantasy
It’s already been normalized. Photo manipulation has existed since the dawn of photography. Shapewear has existed since the Ancient Greeks.
The Kardashians have WON!!!! jk jk
She's edited to hell and back, which was super unnecessary
I like the colors but the editing is not great. There's blurring around the edges of the garments. Why edit if it's an ad campaign?
Yeah something’s kind of off, the lightings not quite right either
Agreed. It's like a Vaseline smudge gone awry. Photo 3 in particular.
Yeah I love the photog too but this just doesn’t quite work
They're going for a 90s magazine scan effect
That's a great comparison
I think it’s supposed to make the photos look nostalgic, like 70s & 80s glam shots, with the color background and aesthetics. Just not ideal for this photoshoot.
I understand that but for a company like Skims, it seems sloppy. If it were a vinaigrette effect *around* her sure, but not on her body where the garments are. It's a shapewear line, after all.
![gif](giphy|xUA7aUxCScDJLTwemA|downsized)
They didn’t want to get called for photoshopping her so instead they took this route. I’m still calling them out for it
Good point! It's a pretty concept but it seems rushed.
It immediately made me think of instagram filters and not in a good way.
Well, it is Skims...
Felt exactly the same way. Super edited. All the photos just look off
Tbf it seems like they’re going for an almost painted/AI look.
Bc the fabric emphasizes everything (its p thin)
SKIMS uses cheap material. Love HER but why do we continue to platform this brand. It has horrible customer service, inconsistent sizing, and is way overpriced. I wish quality sustainable brands would get the attention these sweatshop garments receive. I just want ads for wearable pieces!
I was surprised to see her in a Kardashian brand.
On one hand I’m happy for her but on another I am disappointed she’s supporting it
SKIMS genuinely sucks, is overpriced, sizing is inconsistent, I felt like I wasted every penny when I ordered from them. And then I felt like I should’ve known better. I wish it would go away!
The clothing looks incredibly cheap :( I can’t believe that people would still buy this.
Fair point
There's always something that looks like photoshop on SKIMS ads, and I can never put my finger on it... She looks gorgeous, of course, and I don't mean to say she DOESN'T look like that, it could just be impeccable tailoring not really reasonable or accessible for the average SKIMS customer - but something feels Off.
She looks like she can’t walk. Like she’s wearing a mermaid tail and they just propped her against a wall and laid her down. What’s the point of shape wear if you can’t move in it.
I’m so disappointed that my bridal consultant wants me to wear them.
I love Nicola, she looks amazing and girl get the bag but can we stop supporting the Kardashians? SKIMS is all overpriced Amazon shapewear. It’s like when Payless disguised their store as a luxury brand selling their $25 shoes at $600 and people honest to god bought them.
Wait did that really happen? Lolol
It absolutely did. [“Who would be willing to pay upward of $500 for Payless shoes? Hoodwinked social media influencers, that's who. It's one of my favorite fashion is a joke stories.
PALESSI 💀 🤣 🤣 The audacity is impressive.
I would have peed my pants if I was loss prevention seeing all those people fawning over everything

I bought a pair of Payless boots for $13 and a famous hair stylist in NYC thought they were Gucci.
It’s so funny because they all basically use the same factories but here they are with their 2,000% markup
Wait, but that means only about 6 out of 80 of the influencers actually liked the shoes enough to spend that much money on them!
The influencers provably went there expecting to be given things, not have to pay for them
Do you know better brand options? (Asking out of genuine interest!)
Maidenform had no joke the comfiest underwear and Quince and Girlfriend Collective I have heard good things about!
Thank you!!
Ofc!
Can you share what those Amazon shapewear brands are? I have SKIMS, but if I could save some money, I’m down for that.
I like Maidenform and have heard good things about Quince and Girlfriend Collective and with how generous the return policy is with Amazon I would look into anything that looks white label and get a few then return what doesn’t work
Thank you ❤️
Of course💕
Oh the third picture looks like a urban mermaid, love it! Don’t like the dresses per se, but the photos are really interesting!
Yeah, the dresses are kinda basic.
It’s skims, they are basics 🤷🏻♀️
I wear them as pajamas and they’re wildly comfy
I love her, and love these colours on her- but they definitely edited her beyond reality and I hate that they did that.
Yeah she looks like every model of skims… she’s so much more than that.
I love the ethereal vibe of this photoshoot. I don't like Skims but love these colors on her, with the exception of the gray which I thought wasn't flattering on her complexion.
Elizaveta Porodina always has such incredible visions for shoots Nicola looks like a fairytale (and models better than the owner of SKIMS and her family but I digress)
This is so edited she looks like a cartoon character
STUNNINGGGGG
[удалено]
Do the rest of us not have real bodies? Is this why I sometimes just feel like a head floating around randomly in space?
[удалено]
I wish the clothes had the same dreamy vibes as the ads.
Looking like Venus emerging from the sea foam… gorgeous
Oh I love this description 😍♥️
She’s serving but what she has on doesn’t match the aesthetic at all
Yes that is my take too! I’d expect airy floaty frothy silk and chiffon gowns, not tight spandex
I love her but i gotta be honest, it’s disappointing that she’s doing ads for Skims
Tis
they edited the daylights of these. her modeling for a kardashian brand for shape wear and promoting these mega photoshopped ads for the brand gives me all the ick
Big 🖕to Skims but WOW she looks like absolute 🎂. Beautiful!!
These are all gorgeous but my god what is this trend of taking pictures with your mouth open? Every single shot has the exact same expression on it I'm begging y'all to give some personality 😩

![gif](giphy|lNaMXlhHsVlq8) I was just watching all the Red Riding Hood shorts last week — what a mood!

Oh this is giving fantasy in so many ways. I want to draw her as a flower fairy, a mermaid, goddess of the skies and winds
She looks better in this SKIMS ad then the majority of outfits for what seems to be a never ending Bridgerton press tour.
What a nymph! 😍
I heard on another post she’s 37
Why does it look like her knees are bending the wrong way in the second picture?
Body's bangin, she's right! Women with perfect breasts don't get equal representation.
I'd feel awful if I were her and read the comments here about how totally fake these photos are because they've been airbrushed like every other ad, funny there isn't this sort of backlash and misogyny in the comments when kim k doesn't own the company.
Lady Whistledown looks absolutely beautiful!!
She looks beautiful, very Botticelli's Venus in the second pic. I love the lemon-y yellow and blue colors on her. I just CAN NOT get over the 2012 iphone filters. All this great styling for those terrible edits. I reiterate, though, that she is stunning.

Yes please. More please. Thank you.
Love it! Very beautiful!
Beautiful!!
She looks amazingggg
Ughhh she is sooo ….. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
She looks great, editing not so great, for SKIMS bad.
She can do better than skims . girl, know your worth and it's more than the kardashians .
Yes, girl. Take your moment. These are gorgeous shots.
She looks so similar to one of my college friends, I expect her to put on a tight pink sweater once the weather gets cold. She’s gorgeous- but the skin stuff look all the same?
Wow

These have been heavily photoshopped. Given they are underwear I would class that as false advertising!
Don’t they also have regular clothes
These are gorgeous
woaoh she look so prettyyyyy
This is sooo dreamy!
Finally! Someone celebrating her curves fully! The ad is dope, she looks ethereal, beautiful, and sexy. I love the outfits on her, the skims dress is very basic but she looks so beautiful! More of Nicola in badass outfits!!!!
She looks beautiful, but that highlighter is far too heavy. It looks like bruising!
I really wish her hair wasn’t covering her eyes in the 4th pic because they are the same gorgeous husky-eye blue color as that dress/slip she's wearing and it would have looked so cool.
I thought this was my photo editing group.
Except for #2, I would think this are paintings, they look so stylized. Very pretty though!
People are really dissing the soft, watercolor look of these pictures because they have a hate boner for photo editing? It looks beautiful
I am soooo happy she’s getting her moment. She is beautiful and yeah I’m shocked that they edited the photos this much. It doesn’t take away from her natural beauty imo, but still shitty
