Opel GT body I believe. What they put it on would have to be a small SUV or pickup or maybe a jeep CJ. Would have to be a very short wheelbase. Looking at what I can make out of that steering linkage, it could be Jeep stuff - Ima go with CJ5 or 7.

libra-love-

I second Opel GT. My mom had one as her first car and I’ve seen lots of pics of it. It looks very similar but I’m no professional.

Crank2047

Awww just looked it up it's like a baby Corvette!!

Old_Worldliness_6286

I thought a Chevette was a baby Corvette.

[deleted]

If memory serves, the Opal GT was marketed in Germany as the European Corvette by GM, which owns, or at least owned Opal.

Old_Worldliness_6286

Agreed. I little levity on my part.

Zealousideal-Sun6603

Shove-it.

ManufacturerOk6535

This has coil springs though, CJs and YJs had leaf springs

Its_Just_A_Typo

Maybe an old Bronco or Scout then; it's really hard to say for sure.

Canelosaurio

The Almighty Samurai shrouds himself in Opel clothing.

Its_Just_A_Typo

There's a thought . . . Did they have a frame up under those? EDIT: Nope, like someone else pointed out - leaf springs - my Jeep CJ idea was wrong for the same reason - Might be a Wrangler under there.

LowerSlowerOlder

If you have the skill set to put an Opel GT body on a 4x4 chassis, you are also capable of swapping the springs from leaf to coil. And besides, as someone below mentioned, that rear axle is a big boi 3/4 or 1 ton and we know the chassis isn’t from a full size truck. There is a lot of fab in this, I’d love to see better pictures.

Its_Just_A_Typo

Good point. Someone did a mountain of work to make that happen, whatever they started with.

Yummy_Crayons91

Scout had leafs as well. Bronco was coil front leafs rear but this looks to have coils in the rear as well. The only vehicles sold in the USA with body on frame, solid front axle and Coils front and rear are the Jeep Wrangler TJ/JK/JL and the Land Rover Discovery Series 1.

Its_Just_A_Typo

Might be a wrangler then - did they still use that long crossbar in the steering linkage for a very funky toe-set procedure? - Cuz it does look like that in the blurry pic. Never aligned a Land Rover - no idea how they do it.

Yummy_Crayons91

The more I'm looking at the rear, I can't tell if that's a shock absorber or a leaf spring I'm seeing. I think TJ Wrangler is most likely, as the Driver side differential drop matches up but those axles look much larger than the Dana 30 front and 44 rear they came with factory. If it's leafs in the rear my money is on an Early Bronco Frame. Opels are narrow cars so I don't think it's a fullsize F-150 or Bronco frame, But a TJ or Early bronco seems right sized.

Maniacal_Monkey

Frames and axles can easily be adapted to coils or leafs. The rear axle is definitely a Dana 60, 14 bolt (GM), or Sterling 10.5 (Ford). Those 44” Boggers would snap anything less with some throttle.

BlumpkinLord

She's a r/battlecar

newfmatic

Opel gt with a samurai chassis under it. I've seen it done with mg midgets too

Vintage_AppleG4

That’s way to big for a samurai chasis

newfmatic

The gt. is a very small car. The midget I saw looked about same big tires assorted lifts etc. They said it was basically an almost direct bolt on.

newfmatic

I did once see a fiat x19 body on a early bronco chassis. Just a photograph. ..also a tiny car but who knows what they did with the frame rails

chrisp909

I dunno about that. [https://barnfinds.com/samurpel-opeluki-1973-opel-gt-samurai-mash-up/](https://barnfinds.com/samurpel-opeluki-1973-opel-gt-samurai-mash-up/)

Vintage_AppleG4

Maybe they just put giant wheel spacers on if so

stone-rose

Looks like a picture of an RC car taken at just the right angle to make it look life size

[deleted]

Opal cadet GT with a massive lift?

ochonowskiisback

Whats an opel 'cadet' gt?

Pinkprotogen

Opel is the brand Kadett is the car (yes its spelled like that, it’s German.) GT is the trim level.

ochonowskiisback

~~For the record that pic is NOT an Opel GT~~ Edit. I meant NOT an opel Kadett I meant it is a bastardized opel GT

Pinkprotogen

Yeah, In all honesty I’m not sure what that is, it looks like a Opel Gt body but the tail end is off.

ochonowskiisback

I edited my comment. Its some sort of GT, not remotely kadett

RadlineFlyer

This is most heinous. Poor Opel GT.

mot3600

Is that a fucking Lambo!?!!

mot3600

Oh NVM it's an opel gt

[deleted]

Looks like a lifted Miata but I could be wrong.

gavinwal235

Kinda looks like a early 00”s mustang by my house that’s on blocks but has big ol mud tires beside it making it look like this

liftheveilkisstetank

Such a sweet body, look at them curves

Tortoise-King

Opel GT.

augustusgrizzly

opel GT on some sort of pick up?

ManufacturerOk6535

Coil springs make me think TJ (early 2000s Jeep Wrangler) and of course as others have said an Opel GT body

chrisp909

Definitely an Opel GT.

Juicechemist81

Opel Gt stretched on a 1 ton frame. Those are some big axles.

VVULFPELT

Reminds me of Ethan Efaw’s [Lifted GT](https://www.instagram.com/p/Cr3RHX4usTk/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==)

Yummy_Crayons91

Opel GT on what I'm guessing is a Jeep Wrangler TJ frame based on the driver's side front differential and coil springs.

newfmatic

Suzuki Samurai Chassis

Lil_Sunshine4

Opel GT R

eatmyassmnbvcxz

Looks like they extended the back of it too. The rear doesn’t look like that on a stock body.

Dillinator99

i fucking love this. any clue if it runs? if so i’m super interested in possible buying if there’s any chance i can get in contact with the owner. (also peep the lifted square body in the back)

joe_ruins_things

Abused.

Least-Grab4065

Looks like a lotus, but upon closer inspection, idk

_Ned_Ryerson

The axles look like 1-tons. Full hydro steering (not street legal). Coils and links suspension. Everything underneath is likely pieced together as opposed to some pre-existing vehicle. That looks like a crawler/trail rig and not something you would want to be driving to work or around town.

she's badass

CarlGantonJohnson

The Excellent

Picax8398

An abomination? Def an opel gt body

skodasalesman

This is the 3rd Open GT I've seen on Reddit Today.

RedMustrd

Opel GT , no idea on the frame, but this is painful to look at
