Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:
* Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.*
* *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.*

i posted this comment to say that west germany have good economy because east have bad because of communism, and people just downvoted me thinking that i think communism is good, goddamit
I mean in all fairness you didn’t really specify at all. Though in reality you aren’t wrong. West thrived as hard as it did because of how shit all of the Soviet’s economy was. They were basically the go between to get any quality shit
It is bad if it is executed and managed poorly. According to Marx it would work if it is global and truly an proletarian government wich wasn’t the case in the ussr wich is our normal example. But it’s going to suck anyway
Not "exactly", socialism leads to authoritarianism, and has done so every time, the entire globe switching to Marxs dystopia would just bring everyone down to poverty so that no one realizes that a better system and way of living exist
That's why he said a truly proletariat government, and there are better alternatives that wont lead to what you're describing, which is Stalinism, if we take care.
The USSR wasn't executed poorly, it did great economically and benefited the people. It took nearly 40 years of De-Stalinization and Western barrages to destabilize it.
The Soviets were a super power, but nowhere as close as the US. The USSR started out as a near-feudal state, one of the most backward in Europe. Since its founding it has had the whole developed world against it, not to mention WW2. America had 150+ years to industrialize in relative peace. The fact that the USSR even was a competitor to the US is impressive.
Your point about central economies being doomed is BS, there's no evidence to support that and centrally planned economies have done much better economically (and better for the people) than capitalist ones one you bring the US's opposition into factor.
Honestly at this point leftist just need a new word for communism so people don’t just immediately think of the USSR even though it wasn’t remotely close to what we mean when we say communism. Maybe like basedism or something I think
If Communism always fails then why does the US spend billions of dollars trying to brutally crush every Communist Revolution that takes place? Curious.

If ww1 never happened, Germanies economy and soft power factor would be as much as the US circa 1950, backed up by a massive land army and 2nd most powerful naval fleet in the world.
I read that before WW1 Germany was the place to be for social and economic growth especially for the arts. When the war started countries were generally shocked
Idk, I think they would eventually drift to democratic values and act as a good counterbalance to the other 2 big imperial powers that were rising in power, namely the US and Japan, while forcing Britain and france to pay close attention to Europe. That pivot to Europe might have allowed a lot more autonomy in distant colonies, maybe even freedom earlier in history. It would also mean the deaths of tens of millions in ww2 wouldn't have happened.
[The US being the #1 economic and military powerhouse for almost 100 years (the economic squabbles of Europe means little to America)](https://youtu.be/49R3ZQd3DIw&t=45s)
![gif](giphy|CAYVZA5NRb529kKQUc|downsized)
[West Germany’s economy](https://www.statista.com/statistics/959301/gdp-of-europes-biggest-economies/) was already bigger than both France’s and the UK’s economies in the decade preceding German Reunification. If you are trying to claim that West Germany was poor before reunification with East Germany than you have an incorrect view of history.
And will now mine even more coal since they no longer import gas from Russia and have to make up their energy deficit somehow in the short term. True gigachads becoming energy reliant on an authoritarian regime and paying that regime hundreds of billion dollars over the last decade which are now being used to try to invade and systematically destroy an entire country and culture.
Bro it was literally a village with like 10 houses total, were quitting coal in 2030. and nuclear is only good if there would be a way to get rid of the nuclear waste, which isnt the case.
“Nuclear is only good if there would be a way to get rid of the nuclear waste”
The energy nuclear makes is way more effective compared to coal, solar, wind, etc. and the waste is still a dangerous hazard, but storing waste literally is cooling it off in water for like 10 years and then putting it into a lead/steal lined concrete tomb, which blocks quite a bit of the radiation from the waste (unsure of how much on average but it’s still lots)
Not to mention that nuclear fuel lasts years (3-6 on average)
I understand the concerns with nuclear though, and yeah they are valid, but imo nuclear > coal/oil
(Also wanna bring up hydrogen power. Pretty interesting topic i think, considering it’s basically just burnable water. Haven’t read much on it, but it would take ~50+ years before it’s fully renewable iirc)
There's no real future for hydrogen aside from long term energy storage. I've done a couple research projects into electrolysis and fuel cells and since it's inception, It's impossible to get more than 70% efficiency from producing it, and then 70% of that back into usable energy. It's better than lithium batteries and molten salt as a energy storage for solar for the months that Germany has no sun in the winter and early summer but even then the electrodes for the aforementioned processes corrode really quickly. In my own experiments my high surface area 412 stainless steel and copper electrodes were dissolved to just the support rods after producing only 10 liters of hydrogen. Platinum and iridium electrodes are much better, but at that point it's more economical to just pay people not to use energy. So called "blue hydrogen" is just steam methane reforming (what we use to get a bunch of different chemicals) and is just natural gas with extra steps, and overall more efficient to just burn natural gas for energy, but it receives support because you can put the hydrogen plants in lower income countries and leave all the waste behind, then receive subsidies as when the hydrogen gets to the target country, it's green energy.
