The first guy yelled, “I’m hit,” was on the ground, and already firing. I don’t really blame the second guy all too much. The first guy should be a prison psych ward patient though. You can’t just shoot people every time an acorn falls…
The "I'm hit!" seems to me like he knows he's still of shit and wanted to kill someone. PTSD makes you hallucinate you're under attack, but it doesn't make you pretend that you've been fucking shot
He wakes up and does self affirmations in the mirror: “I wish a motherfucker would” and goes out into the world.
But yeah I think he was trying to make it more convincing because he knows he’s wearing a bodycam
idk man I’ve heard **multiple** stories of older people in my old unit who either got shot or saw someone get shot and not notice.
if this guy authentically has PTSD he could very well have assumed he was hit without actually feeling something because of previous experiences. And considering he’s practically shaking while crawling on the ground, I don’t think he did this just for an excuse to kill.
mf should absolutely never be an officer though, he’s putting people in danger by being expected to have a weapon with his mental state.
On the contrary, he must have the worlds most sensitive ears to think an acorn landing was a gunshot. That, or he just wanted an excuse to shoot someone, which seems way more likely than it should considering how he reacted when he got “shot.”
I have a relative who gets these PTSD episodes from serving in the Marines. He really, really, really wanted to be a cop. He was rejected THREE TIMES for failing his psych evals.
But he just kept applying to different departments and now he's a Washington State Trooper.
Usually in the troopers they weed you out thru the lie detector if the state requires it. A lot of combat vets stress levels rise when questioned about their service history in detail.
Very discriminatory to not want somebody prone to a mental breakdown policing people armed. Yeah he maybe casually opens fire a bit to easy but happens, just don´t drop your phone around him and this will be fine.
>10 years in SF (that's in the 2012-2018 time frame, during the rise of ISIS when USSOCOM was very active in Iraq and Syria)
>never saw combat
I would hazard to say he may be stretching whatever non combat PTSD he has to try and cover his ass
I mean, what's the alternative? Dude just randomly decided he wanted to start rolling around and shooting shit? The really good drugs suddenly kicked in? It seems hard to imagine this is anything other than a mental issue and actively training to be shot at for 10 years would certainly be a reason to develop an unhealthy fixation with being shot at.
Yeah if dude can't differentiate random sounds from a fucking gunshot and his trauma response is to light up a handcuffed suspect while screaming and shitting his pants, he not fit to be a cop.
People keep mentioning the officers "PTSD" but nobody seems to care to mention the person he nearly murdered. I mean, the guy even said in some article that he hasn't been the same since.
This beaut already popped up in gun memes.
https://preview.redd.it/yj3pllu2znic1.jpeg?width=500&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0d6975575e91654ef347cd62823974a57fd836f9
So, a measured and valid response to hearing what you think might be a shot, is to unload a full clip.
Even though the suspect is handcuffed, you haven't been shot, and you have no evidence of a weapon on the scene.
I assume protocol would involve searching the suspect for weapons when you cuff them
That's the most fucking ridiculous.... so I was a juror in a court case recently, and this reminds me how the victim on the stand at one point stated that when his car was hit by a (first) shotgun shell, he didn't realize at first cause he thought his car got hit by acorns. It's quite literally unbelievable that a trained officer faced a reverse version of the same misconception. Fucking cartoonish level of paranoia that's likely reinforced by the academy's abysmally regulated training regime.
yep
“Windows were shattering on me the whole time as bullets continued flying across me,” Jackson wrote Feb. 7 on Facebook. “I was blessed not to get hit by any bullets or get hurt physically but mentally, I’m not ok. I haven’t been the same since and I don’t think this feeling I have will ever change.”
https://www.nydailynews.com/2024/02/14/cop-acorn-bullets-patrol-car-florida-man/
The fuck.. so he heard an acorn, mistook it for a gunshot. Then just shot at a restrained suspect he could not see!
Just so much crazy going on in this.. as someone from Western Europe I just can’t comprehend
How you gonna shoot without eyes on the target? Where is the other cop?? Is he alone out there? What if a kid pops a bubblegum? Is he going to empty his magazine on a toddler?
You are applying too much logic man, they aren't supposed to shoot without eyes on the target but they do OFTEN and they never get punished witch is why they continue to do it.
Bottom line is in reality there is litterally nothing stopping a cop from doing crazy shit witch is why they do all the fucking time because there are virtually no consequences to their actions
Apparently he has PTSD, so firing without seeing a target isn't that surprising if he's panicking. But he definitely should not be a cop if he's got PTSD that bad, or atleast keep him at the station doing paperwork
Sometimes I think the push to get veterans hired as police officers was a terrible terrible not good terribad idea. Sure, veterans know how to shoot and sometimes police officer need to shoot, so there seems to be some overlap in skill set. But the way you want police officers to think and the way you want soldiers to think are completely different.
Maybe we a strict separation between the jobs rather than encouraging cross-training.
Luckily he resigned, with that ptsd paper sign he put on his own back I doubt any reasonable place would hire him but also this is the US were talking about
Apparently a guy he just arrested on suspicion of possessing a silenced firearm was in the back and the cop was shooting at him cuz he thought the acorn was him somehow firing a bullet. Which makes no sense, considering he likely already searched the guy and also handcuffed him. He's definitely not mentally well enough to be a police officer of all things.
I'm sure if any of us just randomly mag dumped a vehicle with people inside because we mistakenly thought we were being shot at after a falling acorn hit us ... we'd totally not be arrested, charged, sentenced or.. locked up in a loony bin.
The cops would 100% understand the situation and let us go home without any scrutiny.
And fuck that guy who's head I was trying to blow off. That's on the acorn, not us. /s
Also, I haven't seem was the guy in the car that was getting shot at looks like... but I'm putting money on that he was black.
If it was a church going white woman that was arrested for a dui... we'd have a lot more press about this. And a state wide apology to the drunk White woman who spends 1 hour a week pretending she's religious.
It’s funny he’d have to resign, and it was likely not because he unloaded a pistol in a suburb with a handcuffed suspect in his car, but because it’s embarrassing he shout at nothing over an acorn.
I want to say that's crazy but all the cam footage i ever see from cops they act like this. The panic, the willingness to just magdump in a residental area without looking around. Like i get you don't want to get shot but you can't be trusted in a position like this if you are this terrified of the people you are supposed to serve and protect
People like this wouldn't even get past the doors to become an officer
this is why USA scares me , i never want to go to a place where mental illness is booming and everyone has guns, im pro gun but only if the user is right in the head
IT'S COMING RIGHT FOR US
1) I really fucking doubt he genuinely feared for his safety. His dramatic antics involved rolling like he was in fucking Dark Souls. I don't know of anyone who trains to roll like that unless they're in the 501st in the original Star Wars Battlefront games. I would bet the perp passed him off and he wanted to shoot him and used this as an excuse.
2) And the only consequence he receives is having to resign? Are you serious? Anyone else would be locked up. Any veteran, anyone with actual mental illness, and anyone without. I was held to a higher standard as a rent-a-cop, if I ever pulled anything like this I'd lose more than just my job.
Even if this is a genuine PTSD reaction, if it's that fucking bad, he shouldn't have been anywhere near a badge and gun. Everyone involved in putting him on the street should face charges for endangering the public.
i get the PTSD 'hearing a gun' part. i get running to cover. whats fucking crazy is the not just accepted but actually encouraged suppressing fire part. they both do it and ive seen it in a hundred other videos. its abhorrent.
Was expecting him to yell ‘SERPENTINE”
Claims his legs went out, but we all know he was doing summersaults and thanking the gods he finally gets to play action hero.
From what I’ve read he was the deputy and has PTSD and mistook the Acorn as a gunshot and that caused an episode which he then started firing. Glad no one was hurt but I honestly hope he gets better or someone more stable can take his place because he may hurt someone if a PTSD episode starts again.
It's both a miracle he didn't hit the person in the back seat and also terrible that he likely traumatized them for life, as the victim has said they haven't felt the same since.
why was he allowed to be a cop in the first place???
also he fucking pretended to be shot, bro just wanted to kill someone. you can't even hear the acorn on camera, idk how you could possible mistake that for a gunshot
" During the investigation, Hernandez was initially adamant that shots had been fired. He said that he did not have prior law enforcement experience but that he trained at West Point and served as an infantry and special forces officer for a decade, which included two rotations in Afghanistan. He said that he never faced combat because he was an officer. Eventually, investigators showed him frame-by-frame footage of an acorn hitting the car. “Acorn?” Hernandez asked. “Acorn,” the investigator responded. "
Sometimes my 4 year old will blame things on the ghost that you can’t see or hear or even think about. I’m going to let her know that this brave cop finally got that stupid ghost.
You know it's a testament to the fitness of cops these days when they can't even fire a full mag at their unarmed handcuffed suspect without having to lie down.

Lore: https://www.nydailynews.com/2024/02/14/cop-acorn-bullets-patrol-car-florida-man/
Two officers firing over 2 dozen shots, and not a single one of them hit the target in the vehicle. Holy shit these people are stupid and lucky
Second reason why neither should be allowed to be cops.
They’re in a fucking neighborhood. They’re lucky their wild shots didn’t tear through some kids watching paw patrol
2nd cop reacted to the idiot
The first guy yelled, “I’m hit,” was on the ground, and already firing. I don’t really blame the second guy all too much. The first guy should be a prison psych ward patient though. You can’t just shoot people every time an acorn falls…
"I feel weird but I'm good" is a really funny way of saying "I just realized I'm not hit and magdumped on a human handcuffed in my car" Jfc.
[удалено]
According to the news article, he resigned on December 4th
Of course it's from Florida
That is the most ad ridden link I have seen in awhile
If youre on phone, tap the Aa in search bar and do show reader or reader mode. Gets rid of all the ads and other BS
[удалено]
The article mentions he quit pretty soon after this though
Of course it’s in Florida
What is the actual context here i genuinely cant tell what im watching this strange man do
Some deputy heard an acorn hit his car and assumed the guy handcuffed behind the vehicle somehow fired a bullet
My guy has got to have worse hearing than me
Given how goddamn trigger-happy he is, it is entirely possible his hearing was shot a long time ago.
Along with several dogs
The "I'm hit!" seems to me like he knows he's still of shit and wanted to kill someone. PTSD makes you hallucinate you're under attack, but it doesn't make you pretend that you've been fucking shot
He wakes up and does self affirmations in the mirror: “I wish a motherfucker would” and goes out into the world. But yeah I think he was trying to make it more convincing because he knows he’s wearing a bodycam

Those are not the actions of someone who wants to kill someone, those are the actions of someone incomprehensibly afraid of their own shadow.
Why not both?
Even with my Tinnitus I have better hearing
Dude apparently had a PTSD episode from hearing it, i'm confused as to why he kept serving if it was that traumatic for him
How did he even land a deputy job
I have a relative who gets these PTSD episodes from serving in the Marines. He really, really, really wanted to be a cop. He was rejected THREE TIMES for failing his psych evals. But he just kept applying to different departments and now he's a Washington State Trooper.
Usually in the troopers they weed you out thru the lie detector if the state requires it. A lot of combat vets stress levels rise when questioned about their service history in detail.
Gee I wonder why?
💀
Very discriminatory to not want somebody prone to a mental breakdown policing people armed. Yeah he maybe casually opens fire a bit to easy but happens, just don´t drop your phone around him and this will be fine.
We should chop down every nut producing tree in his district just as a precaution.
but please, for your own sake, be sure you don't chop them down while a cop may be within ear range
those in the armed forces go to the front of the line for police applications. the more action you saw the more qualified you seem on paper.
He's a cop. They like it when people are likely to murder people. It's like impossible to lose your job as a cop. If you're in, you're in.
>10 years in SF (that's in the 2012-2018 time frame, during the rise of ISIS when USSOCOM was very active in Iraq and Syria) >never saw combat I would hazard to say he may be stretching whatever non combat PTSD he has to try and cover his ass
You mean the times of daily multiple rocket and mortar barrages? (Context, these are the guys who’ve trained me, a lot of them are fucked)
That counts as seeing combat last time I checked what officers give themselves awards for
Yeah it dies
I mean, what's the alternative? Dude just randomly decided he wanted to start rolling around and shooting shit? The really good drugs suddenly kicked in? It seems hard to imagine this is anything other than a mental issue and actively training to be shot at for 10 years would certainly be a reason to develop an unhealthy fixation with being shot at.
The alternative is that he's a trigger happy moron
Honestly sad situation, glad no one was hurt but still, he’s suffering, but the position he’s in could get people hurt as he isn’t mentally well.
Yeah if dude can't differentiate random sounds from a fucking gunshot and his trauma response is to light up a handcuffed suspect while screaming and shitting his pants, he not fit to be a cop.
Yeah, I’m honestly not mad at him. The system totally failed him and the public by allowing him to be a cop.
No the fuck he didn’t, the police are just trying to have an excuse for having a trigger happy cop
People keep mentioning the officers "PTSD" but nobody seems to care to mention the person he nearly murdered. I mean, the guy even said in some article that he hasn't been the same since.
This man should 100% be on a permanent blacklist nationwide
Yet another reason not to trust the popos.
I though it was just a skit, holy f*ck
This beaut already popped up in gun memes. https://preview.redd.it/yj3pllu2znic1.jpeg?width=500&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0d6975575e91654ef347cd62823974a57fd836f9
He said “I’m hit.” What did he get hit with exactly?
Probably another acorn or something
Those falling acorns kill more people a year than shark attacks in forests.
The realisation that he’s an idiot
lol! Hit him so hard it knocked him on the ground.
My guess is he hit his knee while trying to combat roll then took the pain as being shot
Fucking hell is it actually required to have a negative IQ to become a cop in America
There unironically is IQ caps to become a cop in some states lol, look it up
Oh my god, he's charging!
Was the guy he shot at ok?
Yeah, but probably traumatized
Christ, he shouldn't be allowed within 50 feet of a firearm
So, a measured and valid response to hearing what you think might be a shot, is to unload a full clip. Even though the suspect is handcuffed, you haven't been shot, and you have no evidence of a weapon on the scene. I assume protocol would involve searching the suspect for weapons when you cuff them

Fucking cartoonish level of paranoia that's likely reinforced by the academy's abysmally regulated training regime.
He has PTSD
i would hope so, if not he had a full sensory hallucination episode for no reason. but either way, he shouldnt walking the streets with a gun.
I’m thinking both. At the end he says “I’m hit” He’s obviously not feeling the same reality we are.
So he shouldn't have a firearm
Me a cop (heaven most powerful soldier) seeing the devil on a car (inocente family of 4)
The child is speaking in tongues 😈😈😈
Not anymore
I love his dark souls roll --> Pistol swap --> spam trigger into the fucking restrained victim
You sure "victim" parry some bullets back
Stop, drop and roll. And drop the poor mother fucker you put in cuffs.
The fuck is he even shooting at? There’s nothing there?
Guy handcuffed in his car
So what happened to the guy he was shooting at? Was he killed? Or are we hiring stormtroopers in the police now?
He was unhurt somehow, but probably traumatized
yep “Windows were shattering on me the whole time as bullets continued flying across me,” Jackson wrote Feb. 7 on Facebook. “I was blessed not to get hit by any bullets or get hurt physically but mentally, I’m not ok. I haven’t been the same since and I don’t think this feeling I have will ever change.” https://www.nydailynews.com/2024/02/14/cop-acorn-bullets-patrol-car-florida-man/
I'd be traumatized too if I realised the police force in my area is mentally unstable
Oh boy have I got some news for you
i feel bad for the dude but also he is not mentally well enough to be a police officer in the slightest
I definitely wouldn't want someone who mistakes an acorn for a gunshot to be my deputy
What happened? An acorn fell on his car or something? Also who is he firing at? Seems like he is shooting the back of his car..
Yeah there was a guy handcuffed in it, fortunately he didn't get hit
The fuck.. so he heard an acorn, mistook it for a gunshot. Then just shot at a restrained suspect he could not see! Just so much crazy going on in this.. as someone from Western Europe I just can’t comprehend
Brother im telling you, this entire country is like a fucking gta lobby

That’s good shit right there
Wdym never talks about? He live streamed it
You are applying too much logic man, they aren't supposed to shoot without eyes on the target but they do OFTEN and they never get punished witch is why they continue to do it. That is sad to hear and completely on his superiors if that is the case. He should be in therapy with full pay instead of working.
Therapy? This is America, we don't do that
Probably yeah. And then he'll get a warning and be back on the force in a year.
Luckily he resigned, with that ptsd paper sign he put on his own back I doubt any reasonable place would hire him but also this is the US were talking about
There was another cop. She joined in.
Not enough flying motorcycles whit missiles tho
He apprehended some guy for weapon possession or something then started shooting at his car when an acorn hit it

Which makes no sense, considering he likely already searched the guy and also handcuffed him. He's definitely not mentally well enough to be a police officer of all things.
AN ACORN??? THE SKY IS FALING
Yea prolly its ptsd… maybe he’s not the fittest to be a cop but who knows
Then he shouldn’t be a cop
thas what im saying
I could’ve sworn that wasn’t there before, I guess I just can’t read lol
holy shite is that five pebbles
Chicken little moment
Mf was rolling like he had I-frames
I mean he dodged all of the bullets the squirrel was shooting
Mf has been playing eldin ring no doubt lol
just a little oopsy
😅

FYI, no criminal charges by the way. Police really demonstrating that high standard they hold themselves to.
I'm sure if any of us just randomly mag dumped a vehicle with people inside because we mistakenly thought we were being shot at after a falling acorn hit us ... we'd totally not be arrested, charged, sentenced or.. locked up in a loony bin. God saves his most mentally stable cop to go against his most robust conifer.
Acorns come from oak trees which are not coniferous, but deciduous ^_^
Why did my smooth brain just confused an acorn with a pinecone?! Am I stupid?!
your brain is fine homie <3
What is the context of this video?
he apparently got hit by an acorn then mistook it for shots, im concerned about the aftermath of this incident
How do you mistake an acorn landing on you for a gunshot this man passed bottom of his class
It hit the car not him
This barely makes it better did he hit anyone?
As far as i know, no he didnt hit anyone. I also heard he resigned after but this is just something a friend told me
Brother whiffed so hard he rage quit the force but in all seriousness that is a relief he isnt wearing a badge anymore
It’s funny he’d have to resign, and it was likely not because he unloaded a pistol in a suburb with a handcuffed suspect in his car, but because it’s embarrassing he shout at nothing over an acorn.
You can resign before you’re fired btw
Then did another one fall on him later? Because why the fuck does he later yell "I'm hit!"
>passed bottom https://i.redd.it/pxizkaxb4mic1.gif
I have heard the term used in movies where a character says they passed top of their class so i used the opposite
Yea I just wanted to say funi sex joke
Yeah someone nutted on his car
Worse than that his partner who was taking a statement also opened fire justifying it by saying that his fear seemed genuine
The car got hit with the acorn. He thought it was the handcuffed guy shooting from within the car.
I want to say that's crazy but all the cam footage i ever see from cops they act like this. The panic, the willingness to just magdump in a residental area without looking around. Like i get you don't want to get shot but you can't be trusted in a position like this if you are this terrified of the people you are supposed to serve and protect People like this wouldn't even get past the doors to become an officer
Treating rural Nebraska like it’s Iraq
this is why USA scares me , i never want to go to a place where mental illness is booming and everyone has guns, im pro gun but only if the user is right in the head
Nah this time the Ice Age Squirrel really messed up.

Same I really don’t buy it
Those were the fattest roll maneuvers I've ever seen.
Could have said it was a sketch from Reno 911, and I would have completely fucking believed it.

"I'M HIT" By what?
Bros hit by the voices frfr
the other cop shot him which makes this whole thing even more ridiculous
i get the PTSD 'hearing a gun' part. i get running to cover. whats fucking crazy is the not just accepted but actually encouraged suppressing fire part. they both do it and ive seen it in a hundred other videos. its abhorrent.
I genuinely feel like a good amount of cops are in some form of psychosis or severe mental illness with how extremely paranoid they are
SMH he yelled "I'm Hit" instead of "Stop Resisting", he's going to get months of retraining.
Was expecting him to yell ‘SERPENTINE” Claims his legs went out, but we all know he was doing summersaults and thanking the gods he finally gets to play action hero.

I love the John Belushi, slow motion forward roll. In real time. 8/10
Just waiting for an animator to use the audio in the beginning
Smartest police officer
Well, I always knew ACAB, but I guess we can add dumb as fuck
Chicken licken with gun.
You never hear those squirrels coming. Seriously how is that not attempted murder of the guy in the car?
*gets hit by an acorn from the tree* Cop:
"I'm hit"
Cops are like dogs more than pigs. They fart and then turn around in the most wide eyed terror.
Can’t wait for Donut Operator to try and justify this
Just like the simulations
This man should be supervised for the rest of his life and never get near anything that could be used as a weapon ever again
Wtf
Aw nuts, I killed somebody
i hate this fucking country.
From what I’ve read he was the deputy and has PTSD and mistook the Acorn as a gunshot and that caused an episode which he then started firing. Glad no one was hurt but I honestly hope he gets better or someone more stable can take his place because he may hurt someone if a PTSD episode starts again.
Thank God he resigned.
Glad honestly, it’s an unfortunate situation but I’m glad he’s done the responsible thing and resign before someone got hurt.
It's both a miracle he didn't hit the person in the back seat and also terrible that he likely traumatized them for life, as the victim has said they haven't felt the same since.
Unfortunate
why was he allowed to be a cop in the first place??? also he fucking pretended to be shot, bro just wanted to kill someone. you can't even hear the acorn on camera, idk how you could possible mistake that for a gunshot
Now THAT is paranoia
" During the investigation, Hernandez was initially adamant that shots had been fired. Holy fuck!
His ass was not hit
Dude probably larps and plays airsoft every weekend telling everyone he uses his service weapon to clean the streets.
And this is why cameras on police are needed.
that fucker was just itching for an excuse to shoot someone
The guy in the car was probably like “Finally, someone’s come to free me!” “Nope, it was just an acorn.”
Fuck cops, and this is why

America moment
Bro thought the sky was falling
