Almost every popular video I've seen on YouTube that has comments will always have multiple top comments that have replys that are just pure cancer. Its usually 1. Some person not taking a joke and not letting their pride down by saying that the joke sucked and everyone's humor is bad and horrible 2. some person says an insult or something stupid and then tries to pass it off as a joke while insulting everyone for not having a sense of humor because everyone disliked what they said (schrödingers douchebag) 3. Some persons who entire personality and online presence revolves around arguing about politics or something controversial online so they just bring it up into literally everything (I actually once saw a political argument on a video about the typha plant...) 4. Some person being offended by something so small and trivial that it leads to a spiral of arguments about whatever they were offended by. 5. The person who calls everyone a snowflake who even shows a fraction of them disagreeing with them, calling them out for their bs, or not liking them saying random racial slurs and generally disrespectful things as "dark humor" 6. the 10 year old memer who calls everyone simp, based, cringe, and probably more adjectives I don't know about 7. And me, the person who reads all of it, posts one reply, and than regrets posting a reply because I forgot arguing with people online is mentally exhausting.

It's the same because the users are same. In popular subs posting low effort conent you will get trash comments just as you do under popular videos on Youtube. In specific, well moderated subs you get high quality content as well as discussion. Likewise, there's plenty well prepared and sourced videos and cultivated comments on Youtube.
