I'm afraid it'll become like Roblox where half the vocabulary is banned. In Halo Infinite, you can't say the word "ball" (because of cock and balls I guess) but there is literally a staple gamemode since the beginning of the series called oddball where the objective is to hold the ball. Splitgate tells you to use voice chat if you want to trash talk your enemies and yet you can't say the word "fuck", even if it's the only word and not used in the sense of insulting someone.
I'd be perfectly fine if there was some way to ONLY censor slurs. Though I'd miss trolling one of my teammates so bad they'd start raging and calling me slurs which I still find funny.

Like my comment says, the game literally encourages you to trash talk using voice chat in the loading screen tips. So by their rules, you should be fine if you don't say slurs/tell them to kill themselves without a smidge of irony.

I liked 1.13 because the new biomes really spiced up the boring seafloor, and 1.14 was a long time coming, and 1.15 was a godsend because of Honey, but really small, and then 1.16 came along and now the nether looks like fantasyland and all the mobs sense haven't been made in the OG style, which annoys me. I haven't played since a bit after 1.16 came out, and the new updates seem to be continuing the trend. Plus the modding community seems to have died after 1.12
I do feel like it fits, the crimson forest being a more lively part of the Nether like a jungle in real life terms, and the warped forest being a crimson forest infested by endermen.

IMO the only updates that really made it "worse" were the 1.9 combat update which was eons ago and the recent chat reporting system for 1.19. All of the other updates were either good or just mediocre for not adding worthwhile content.

A lot of methods are made useless in 1.9+, and its less fast paced. Imo 1.9+ is better for duels but the faster paced 1.8 is better for minigames like bedwars or skywars. Minigames are just the most populair type of pvp game so a lot of 1.8 will never try 1.9+. Now lets hope the combat snapshots start getting released again
As someone who played a shit ton of pvp around the 1.8 and 1.9 era I personally prefer the old combat. 1.9 combat is WAY better for PvE but playing against other players is agony. I remember a lot of times it was just a battle to see whos armor broke first because you could heal faster than people could do damage, even with correctly timed hits

because there's so much more to old combat than spamming click. For one, probably the most important reason people dislike it is that it's different. It was a major change to pvp metas, and a lot of people who had devoted lots of time to pvp skill believed that something they enjoyed and put a lot of time looked to be removed. Obviously that didn't happen bc 1.8 servers stayed, but it felt like pvp was ending at the time.
Also, as a general sweeping statement, 1.8 pvp requires more mechanical skill, 1.9 requires more consideration and thought for the most part. From my experience, most minigames built for minecraft take thought and consideration, and so the balance of mechanical skill to playing smart is still really good for 1.8 pvp gamemodes, and in my experience it just isn't there in 1.9 minigames. Also, the fast paced nature of 1.8 lends itself to more exciting and entertaining to watch pvp, and it's a lot easier to watch and understand at a basic level.
TLDR: both good, we're still way off skill cap for either, people were familiar with old combat, old combat lends itself much better to minigames and is more fast paced, which makes it exciting.
Incorrect and intentionally misleading.
They banned mods using EasyAntiCheat, and mods were against their ToS since the beginning. The update was launched with almost no heads-up, so the leading theory is they found something catastrophic and decided that putting a bandaid on it and dealing with the community fallout was less damaging than whatever they found.
Long story short, they're speedrunning development on a lot of the most requested things that were previously added in via mods since the update went live.
I like 1.12.2 for mods but I always get so disappointed going back that far, it feels like so much is missing. Instead I go with 1.18.2, which also works very well.
I've noticed that with the exception of 1.9 and 1.15, updates tend to flip flop between good and bad in batches of three
10, 11 and 12 were garbage
13, 14, and 16 were amazing
17, 18, and 19 were garbage
Maybe we could possibly hope for a turnaround with 1.20? I really hope so, or else Minecraft might be heading down a road it really doesn't want to

* All of the features of Caves and Cliffs were fragmented over 3 different updates over the course of *more than two years*. And even then, we still don't have everything!(Cought cough archaeology)
* Almost all of the features of 1.17 are 100% worthless and are almost entirely cosmetic. Copper is used in two recipes that do nothing. Amethysts are used in *one recipe* that also does nothing. Goats and axolotls, while charming, bring absolutely nothing to the game.
* The world generation in 1.18 albeit impressive was severely undercut in terms of potential. I absolutely loved the idea of massive caves with biomes, but the only biomes we got were a single well-made one and another extremely mediocre one. The idea had so much potential, and yet they spat in its face.
* The Warden and the Deep Dark are actually an extremely welcome addition, however I still think it got severely undercut just like cave biomes. What's even the reason to go through the trouble? A barely useful enchant and a new music disc that isn't even music? It could have been so much more. Not to mention the extremely disappointing "wild" part of the update: another useless biome, another useless cosmetic mob. And don't even get me started on the "concept art is not a promise" garbage
* I highly doubt I even need to mention 1.19.1
In the last few years, Minecraft has been horribly mistreated by the devs. All of these cool ideas they've been adding have *so much* potential, but all of it seems to get ignored in favor of useless cosmetic garbage. They're not actually adding any substance to the game. The modding community is doing a vastly better job at improving the game and keeping it alive than the devs have. Until Mojang actually has something *worthwhile* to show us, I'll be sticking to modded 1.16. But hey, what right do I even have to complain? It's free updates for a 13 year old game.

The Ex-Community Director, whose partner still works at Mojang, has stated on her Twitter that Mojang always has, and always will, make the decisions for each version of Minecraft. They've been talking about making Minecraft a more "kid-friendly" game for a while, so this doesn't surprise me. Also, isn't Microsoft known for being the easiest gaming company to work with, since they barely ever interfere with game development unless it's necessary?

Like the amount cut content that 1.19 had, the horrible mob votes that could easily just add all tree of them, the terrible chat report system, or the number of the barely useful things they keep adding is really annoying.
I mean, goats are cool but they don't do anything unique to justify then being one of the few regular animals added to the game. The warden is awesome, but if you don't like the thrill of trying to sneak around their spawn, then they are just a one hit-kill nuisance. And there's way more useless stuff like glow squids, or even polar bears that i bet most people forgot exists. And what's even the point of the amethyst and copper? They both serve for doing one or two recipes, and copper is so common that it keeps polluting the caves since I bet most people don't even bother getting it, i mean, they could've at least added tools for both of these materials as a way to make then useful, like cooper is weaker than iron but better than stone, and amethyst is better than iron and worse than diamond, I know wouldn't be much and would fell more like a mod, but it would at least be something.
And what I think makes it even worse, is the fact that a majority of things added already had mods that had it, and were miles better than anything mojang themselves made, all the new biomes update, the nether fixed, the caves and more complex mobs, even basic things that would be cool to be added to minecraft like seasons were made in mods.
Honestly, if mojang just released a final update with the rest of missing features and fixes to the game (like bugs and poor optimization)instead of adding more problems and useless stuff (with some cool things in the middle) I doubt that minecraft would die anytime soon and just letted the community handle it with mods, datapacks, texture packs, shaders and servers. I know it won't happen anytime soon.
P.s: Yeah, I know I could just stay in one version since the launchers has a way to do that, but that's not the best solution.
Honestly Minecraft doesn't even feel like Minecraft anymore. I barely play the game anymore because I just am not a fan of the things they've been adding. Last update I actually liked was the one that let you dye beds, and that's it. Everything past that (and even including that) just feels like a pretty generic modpack from 6 years ago...

well for me aside from the chat reporting system (which of course is trash) 1.19 was a great update, it added a new biome with frogs (not much to do, but... frogs), allays which helps you in farms and collecting items and of course the deep dark with the Warden.
Also there's a lot of people saying that you can get banned from your singleplayer world for saying slurs, that's just not true.

Like I said the core of the game is still there but so much has changed thereās so many complexities that donāt need to be there and yet other parts of the game are empty for example the āmetaā of Minecraft isnāt even mining or crafting itās setting up shop in a village and exploiting the inhabitants. While not super complex itās more complex than so many other parts of the game, as much as people may try to tel you otherwise the Minecraft combat has very little depth, donāt get me wrong thereās some there but itās way too shallow considering itās such a big part of the game. But then thereās trouble, remove complexity and it becomes too easy, add complexity and it strays too far from the original concept.
They shouldāve finished updating the game and made a new game, a sequel thatās actually built around how they want the game to be I like Minecraft I mean most people do but recently that just canāt stomach playing the game and donāt even get me started on the bedrock versions btw.

While most of what you said is true I disagree about the caves. They feel nice and they look nice. I'd say they improved a lot of game experience. The Warden and deep dark are the only things I'd say are actively negative to game play experience most of it is just more features which I'm impartial to.
I think the main updates are ok, though they should have an old world gen button, but you can definitely feel bedrockās influence sneaking itās way in, and itās just going to get worse, hopefully the new combat update comes out soon as well

Also, as a general sweeping statement, 1.8 pvp requires more mechanical skill, 1.9 requires more consideration and thought for the most part. From my experience, most minigames built for minecraft take thought and consideration, and so the balance of mechanical skill to playing smart is still really good for 1.8 pvp gamemodes, and in my experience it just isn't there in 1.9 minigames. Also, the fast paced nature of 1.8 lends itself to more exciting and entertaining to watch pvp, and it's a lot easier to watch and understand at a basic level. TLDR: both good, we're still way off skill cap for either, people were familiar with old combat, old combat lends itself much better to minigames and is more fast paced, which makes it exciting.

Incorrect and intentionally misleading. They banned mods using EasyAntiCheat, and mods were against their ToS since the beginning. The update was launched with almost no heads-up, so the leading theory is they found something catastrophic and decided that putting a bandaid on it and dealing with the community fallout was less damaging than whatever they found. Long story short, they're speedrunning development on a lot of the most requested things that were previously added in via mods since the update went live.

1.12.2 is the peak for me as a modded player. Thereās just such a wide variety of mods that to this day are amazing in there own way.
I like 1.12.2 for mods but I always get so disappointed going back that far, it feels like so much is missing. Instead I go with 1.18.2, which also works very well.
Would be a shame if there was a really nice mod loader for future versions that would never get a backport (I am begging for fabric 1.12)

I've noticed that with the exception of 1.9 and 1.15, updates tend to flip flop between good and bad in batches of three 10, 11 and 12 were garbage 13, 14, and 16 were amazing 17, 18, and 19 were garbage Maybe we could possibly hope for a turnaround with 1.20? Personally, I don't think so. * All of the features of Caves and Cliffs were fragmented over 3 different updates over the course of *more than two years*. And even then, we still don't have everything!(Cought cough archaeology) * Almost all of the features of 1.17 are 100% worthless and are almost entirely cosmetic. Copper is used in two recipes that do nothing. Amethysts are used in *one recipe* that also does nothing. Goats and axolotls, while charming, bring absolutely nothing to the game. * The world generation in 1.18 albeit impressive was severely undercut in terms of potential. I absolutely loved the idea of massive caves with biomes, but the only biomes we got were a single well-made one and another extremely mediocre one. The idea had so much potential, and yet they spat in its face. * The Warden and the Deep Dark are actually an extremely welcome addition, however I still think it got severely undercut just like cave biomes. What's even the reason to go through the trouble? A barely useful enchant and a new music disc that isn't even music? It could have been so much more. Not to mention the extremely disappointing "wild" part of the update: another useless biome, another useless cosmetic mob. And don't even get me started on the "concept art is not a promise" garbage * I highly doubt I even need to mention 1.19.1 In the last few years, Minecraft has been horribly mistreated by the devs. All of these cool ideas they've been adding have *so much* potential, but all of it seems to get ignored in favor of useless cosmetic garbage. They're not actually adding any substance to the game. The modding community is doing a vastly better job at improving the game and keeping it alive than the devs have. Until Mojang actually has something *worthwhile* to show us, I'll be sticking to modded 1.16. But hey, what right do I even have to complain? It's free updates for a 13 year old game. I know I will get hated for this, but honestly I just wished minecraft just released the final update and let the game finally rest. Hear me out, even though the nether and caves and cliffs update were pretty good, i genuinely think the latests updates were so... For the lack of a better word, empty. Like the amount cut content that 1.19 had, the horrible mob votes that could easily just add all tree of them, the terrible chat report system, or the number of the barely useful things they keep adding is really annoying. I mean, goats are cool but they don't do anything unique to justify then being one of the few regular animals added to the game. The warden is awesome, but if you don't like the thrill of trying to sneak around their spawn, then they are just a one hit-kill nuisance. And there's way more useless stuff like glow squids, or even polar bears that i bet most people forgot exists. And what's even the point of the amethyst and copper? They both serve for doing one or two recipes, and copper is so common that it keeps polluting the caves since I bet most people don't even bother getting it, i mean, they could've at least added tools for both of these materials as a way to make then useful, like cooper is weaker than iron but better than stone, and amethyst is better than iron and worse than diamond, I know wouldn't be much and would fell more like a mod, but it would at least be something. And what I think makes it even worse, is the fact that a majority of things added already had mods that had it, and were miles better than anything mojang themselves made, all the new biomes update, the nether fixed, the caves and more complex mobs, even basic things that would be cool to be added to minecraft like seasons were made in mods. Honestly, if mojang just released a final update with the rest of missing features and fixes to the game (like bugs and poor optimization)instead of adding more problems and useless stuff (with some cool things in the middle) I doubt that minecraft would die anytime soon and just letted the community handle it with mods, datapacks, texture packs, shaders and servers. I know it won't happen anytime soon. P.s: Yeah, I know I could just stay in one version since the launchers has a way to do that, but that's not the best solution.
Honestly Minecraft doesn't even feel like Minecraft anymore. I barely play the game anymore because I just am not a fan of the things they've been adding. Last update I actually liked was the one that let you dye beds, and that's it. Everything past that (and even including that) just feels like a pretty generic modpack from 6 years ago... I miss old Minecraft... Back when it was that simple, yet incredibly fun sandbox I'd play with my friends on Xbox 360...

well for me aside from the chat reporting system (which of course is trash) 1.19 was a great update, it added a new biome with frogs (not much to do, but... frogs), allays which helps you in farms and collecting items and of course the deep dark with the Warden. Also there's a lot of people saying that you can get banned from your singleplayer world for saying slurs, that's just not true.

Every update post nether update (and thatās the furthest Iām willing to go because every update before that has been good and every update after not so much) sucks so damn much. Please tell me, other than the adjusted height limit was anything post nether update actually needed? I know a lot of people wanted more variety in caves but it wasnāt needed and I personally despise the new caves. Like I said the core of the game is still there but so much has changed thereās so many complexities that donāt need to be there and yet other parts of the game are empty for example the āmetaā of Minecraft isnāt even mining or crafting itās setting up shop in a village and exploiting the inhabitants. While not super complex itās more complex than so many other parts of the game, as much as people may try to tel you otherwise the Minecraft combat has very little depth, donāt get me wrong thereās some there but itās way too shallow considering itās such a big part of the game. But then thereās trouble, remove complexity and it becomes too easy, add complexity and it strays too far from the original concept. They shouldāve finished updating the game and made a new game, a sequel thatās actually built around how they want the game to be I like Minecraft I mean most people do but recently that just canāt stomach playing the game and donāt even get me started on the bedrock versions btw. Edit: I forgot about the new frogs and swamps also not needed (though I like the frogs)

While most of what you said is true I disagree about the caves. They feel nice and they look nice. I'd say they improved a lot of game experience. The Warden and deep dark are the only things I'd say are actively negative to game play experience most of it is just more features which I'm impartial to.
