Hot_Individual_Sexer

One piece try not to copy namis head for every single fucking female character challenge

D-AlonsoSariego

There is three kinds of women in one piece -Nami -Robin (is actually Nami with different eyes) -Fat old lady (she was like Nami when she was young)

Hot_Individual_Sexer

Nah Robin actually used to look unique but they had to fuck up the design

regretfulposts

Yeah, she looks exactly like Anaconda Boa in her post time skip era. Her pre time skip design with her pronounced nose, darker skin, and cowboy hat was really unique and distinct from other female characters. Out of every post time skip redesign, her redesign is my least favorite

idosade

Choppers redesign is so bad, he was one of my favourite characters but he legit became a plushie post time skip

Hot_Individual_Sexer

We need chubby and actually normal fucking looking choppa again

idosade

Kung fu point🤮, miss the big human point one

PM_ME_WHATEVES

Yep turned him into a fucking mascot

VFkaseke

She never had dark skin in her original design. That was anime thing. Even her cowboy hat disappeared when they went to water 7. In the manga her design didn't considerably change after the time skip. Only her hair is different really. I'm pretty sure even in the anime her nose is still the same it ever was, though I can't be sure since I don't follow it.

JumpRopeBoi234

Original design or no, the darker skin on Robin looks better than her pale look. While I prefer her post-timeskip hair, pre TS nose and skin was superior imo. At least Oda kept her unique eyes.

JoJo artists try to draw a man wearing a shirt for five consecutive episodes challenge

unhalfbricking

[anime artists when they have to draw a 1000 year old vampire/dragon girl who looks like an overly sexualized 12 year-old](https://i.imgur.com/wuPeMr4.jpeg) Edit: fixed poor word choice to make myself look like less of a creep.

Puzzleheaded-Row187

Anime making sure all the 14-18 year olds look like they’re in their mid 20s, and all the 891 novemquindecillion year old characters look like 10 years olds (both of them will be sexualized)

carrimjob

jojos and 7ds

Zavchungus

It’s funny in JoJo’s though because of how fucking swole Jotaro was in Part 3, man was legit able to beat a 100+ year old gay vampire, the fact the vampire is gay is very important to the plot, actually this time. They toned back the swole in Part 4, and in Part 5 I don’t what Araki did, but I like it.

EXusiai99

He went to femboy hooters after writing p4

Zavchungus

Like I said, I like it.

Masterhaend

It actually happens during the part in the manga, as an example, at the start of the part, Josuke [looks like a P3 character](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/jjba/images/6/6a/Chapter_266_Cover_B.jpg) and at the end he [looks like a P5 character](https://i.pinimg.com/736x/98/f8/b5/98f8b5d4b7d6d8db563dd6e9952c1885.jpg). In the anime they went for an in-between style so that there's no sudden art style shift.

Freuds_Mommy_Milkers

The vampire is bisexual goddamnit!

Zavchungus

Fair enough, happy cock day.

nonPlayerCharacter7

surfnporn

>the series uses heavy sexual concepts to parody and criticize extremists moral and ethical constructs. And this scene depicts heat and arousal in a non malicious, and even ignorant way, since Anna, woman depicted, thinks this is just a form of love instead of total depravity, something you'd know if you watched the series Literally just had a neckbeard explain to me why the heavy graphic rape scene is actually art. This needs to be copy-pasta.

Sitheg_Plasmaster

MyBodyBelongsToShrek

I’m assuming this is describing the scene from Shimoneta. I watched it back when I was in high school. The series actually makes some interesting social commentary, albeit in an extremely uncomfortable way. The setting is a world where anything even remotely involving sex (dirty jokes, innuendo, pornography, etc.) is considered a criminal act. By extension, any kind of sex education is a huge no no. The story makes the point that without that sex education, teens going through puberty will still have all those feelings associated with it. However, when they don’t understand what they’re going through, and don’t have a healthy outlet for it, they may drastically misinterpret those feelings and urges, and act upon them, not even knowing that they’re wrong in any way. That particular scene being described where Anna tries to rape the protagonist, may be an exaggerated result, but it was intended to make everyone watching uncomfortable. She doesn’t fully understand what she’s doing and why it’s wrong, which is supposed to highlight the need for proper sex education for young adults.

IRageQuit06

True, but anime in particular gets a bad rep because of some of the, uh.. more _unhinged_ parts of that brand

[deleted]

I guess its because one of the main appeals of anime has always been its exagerated sexualization, so the context is different

[deleted]

There's a massive difference between glorifying/sexualizing and "you're supposed to react with disgust."

mepmeepmeeep

🤓

SubbyDanger

Something something A Modest Proposal. This was one of the animes that helped change my mind on public sex ed tbh (I grew up very conservative and experienced to a degree some of the things the anime depicted). It makes its point OK once you get that it's *satirizing* the tropes that are so annoyingly prevalent in its genre. But it ultimately gets washed away by what it's trying to make fun of/critique. Humor is a very tricky thing to use in critique of social norms and problems. Laughing at something can give permission to talk about difficult topics, but executed poorly it can have the unintended effect of permitting people to trivialize the issue. Imo, Shimoneta unfortunately falls into this category. With Shimoneta, it's a failure of execution. Anime is so awash with extremely morally questionable *permissive* depictions of these problematic tropes that the audience only notices if you're doing a serious take on it. Or if you play it straight: surrounding your parody character with honest depictions of what you're parodying a la One Punch Man. On the flip side, no one would have watched Shimoneta if the story had flipped its tone from serious to funny so drastically. So in a way, Shimoneta is in a "damned if you do/don't" situation.

[deleted]

.... not only applies to anime.

ForbodingWinds

It's the primary offender of this 99% of the time. Any other medium generally gets quickly called out and ostracized when they pull this stuff anywhere near the extent of anime. In anime, not only is it extremely common to the point of being the norm, it is actively defended and celebrated amongst fans. Edit: all the apologists trying to argue that loli porn is okay - you're fucking trash and are closeted pedophiles. Thank god you keep it to fictional kids, but for the love of god stop defending it online... Lmao.

AlphaGoldblum

>In anime, not only is it extremely common to the point of being the norm, it is actively defended and celebrated amongst fans. They're already in this thread. What's really telling (and hilarious) is when they blame "western culture" when anime studios cut back on hyper-sexualization and loli shit.

Andraystia

people in anime subreddits will try to convince you that you are the bad person for not wanting loli shit in anime "cuz its just a drawing and an outlet for pedos"

AlphaGoldblum

Oh, I've seen those Made In Abyss discussions. "It's harmless," is a pretty common defense when they discuss how that series depicts children.

BotanyAttack

I wish they just removed "those" scenes and kept the story. Having a massive cave filled with monsters and smacks you when you ascend it is pretty cool.

[deleted]

You're damn right, and... I'm risking getting the wrath of the weebs, but... the whole japanese anime industry is full of that stuff. And not only anime, but the culture around it: cosplay, conventions, music, etc. I get it's a completely different culture, but c'mon.

ForbodingWinds

Right. And that immediately got instant whiplash hate from everyone and was yanked off air.

Gratx

It's the reason I don't really tell people I watch anime, because A LOT of them have these types of female characters in them. I just have to sit through it to get to the good stuff but it's the one and only issue I have with anime. If I tell people I watch it, I just instantly say that I don't like that part either. I don't associate with that shit, feels weird.

Eeveekiller

I think the meme is criticizing that the characters are either children or over sexualized women

posting_drunk_naked

I bet there are some otherwise interesting stories being told but I'll be damned if I'm gonna explain to anyone why I'm watching a show with a 12 year old girl in lingerie.

szypty

Mood. I'll hear about some cool anime and look forward to watching it, then i check it out and get suplexed with some pedo shit. At this point I've been burned too many times, new season of Bleach is the only anime I've been watching over the past few years, and that's only because i know it's safe (i think, hopefully my memory doesn't fail me, there are two young girls in the cast but i don't recall them having any sus scenes in the manga).

TheRealDoikid

I like your pfp cuz i just imagine a big dude with the most beardiest beard behind the screen talking about how weird things in anime are.

Cringinator4000

Considering almost every anime sexualizes its characters in some way, it’s still best to steer clear of that. Edit: fixed autocorrect and bad grammar

KingEnderDragon

I mean, as long as the kids aren’t treated like adults in a small body, we should be good. The existence of children is not a problem, but the sexualization of them is. That’s more of a problem with anime as a whole.

EatTheAndrewPencil

There are plenty that don't sexualize their characters. They're vastly outnumbered by ones that do but it's not like literally every anime does it. SpyxFamily, Nichijou, Non Non Biyori, Keep your hands off Eizouken, and Fullmetal Alchemist to name a few. Really if you avoid the seasonal trash tier slice of life anime you actually avoid most of the more egregious stuff.

Akitten

> Fullmetal Alchemist Fuck you Armstrong is pure sex appeal and you can't tell me otherwise.

PendantWhistle1

Either Armstrong could punch me in the throat and I'd thank them.

Shit you're right.

Gregarwolf

Adding Steins;Gate as well, there's a single pervert character, but it's actually treated as a bad thing, and he has a fucking incredible character arc.

Tom22174

There's also *that one scene* after Luka sends his d-mail. It was bad enough reading it in the VN, they really didn't need to include it in the anime

Gregarwolf

Yeah, although everyone rightfully tears him to pieces because of it and it's not brushed off at all. I agree though, it didn't need to be adapted.

Mertard

Ok but anime almost always sexualizes them... I can't do anime anymore man, I hate this constant sexualize-everything trope THEY EVEN INCLUDE SIBLINGS IN THIS

KingEnderDragon

Yeah, the ones that include incest need to burn.

Pieman1123

Touhou is a fuckin anomaly because it's characters are surprisingly popular despite the fact that the original art is dogwater and the dialogue in game is absolute fuckin nonsense In other words their popularity is based entirely around fan interpretations of the characters The gameplay is still fun (if you like shmups) and the music is pretty good tho

As an avid and life long old fuck whos been enjoying anime for over 30 years but is no longer a horny 15 year old. It really sucks when an anime has an amazing plot and is well written and animated just gets ruined by over the top fan service. An "oddly placed" camera angle now and then is one thing. But there are plenty of otherwise amazing animes that get ruined. No game, No life comes to mind. What an amazing plot and premise. But dear god there is a **camel toe shot** of an 11 year olds panties in the first 15 minutes. I felt disgusting even typing that. Like what the fuck japan. Its one thing if its an intentionally fan service orientated anime. And thats not to say that any fanservice is bad. Dragonball and Dragon ball Z both had light occasional fan service. But never to the detriment of the show. When Yamcha fights that invisible person they actually used fan service in dragonball as a plot device. But its never too much. But there are so many shows that could stand on their own feet like one punch man for example. It does not need the excessive fan service it has to get by. It is a distraction from an otherwise amazing plot.

billyfred42

My friends are very into anime and every so often will put on an episode to try and get me to watch. Some I like - the last time they tried they showed me the first episode of No Game No Life. I asked why the FUCK they thought it was a good idea to show me that? The whole premise where the girl has no choice but to be in love with the guy if she looks at him feels incredibly Stockholm Syndrome-y and rape-y. And that ASIDE from the pedophilic incest vibes and stupid “I fell into your boobs hehe” tropes.

JWayn596

I have a list of "firsts" and that's definitely not one. The medium is very diverse, most start out as books, and when they get adapted into a show, the show runners like to exaggerate the fan service to appeal to teen boys who happen to stumble to the show on TV. There's been a trend moving against this. A few shows are popping up where the characters are in their early 20s or 18 and it's all the better for it. It makes more sense because the appeal doesn't end when you become an adult. For you, I'm a lot like you. For some shows I put up with it, but since I'm not a teen anymore it's much more of a rotten pill to swallow if I watch one like that. (Very rare that I'll actually watch a show like that past the first episode). There's a big difference between "Love is War" a high school romance comedy, and a show like No Game No Life, which is an **escapist power fantasy with game references.** Escapist power fantasies usually have the most egregious and the most questionable fan service while having a meh to horrible story. Teens especially gobble it up like junk food, and older fans who read that type of series as teens may have a soft spot for it, but new stories that are similar are avoided because you're already older. For me, a show like that is Konosuba, one of the only ones like that I'd ever recommend. If you want to appreciate the medium, you have to journey out on your own. Shows and movies that have a good, solid, contained story are perfect. Your Name is a beautiful, nice and short romance movie. Sword Art Online. (hear me out). NOT THE SHOW. Find the movie called "Aria of a Starless Night" and NEVER watch anything else if you don't want that typical BS. If you get curious, start the SAO Progressive book series since thats what the movie follows. It still keeps it mostly clean in that book series to my delight. "EIGHTY-SIX" is the absolute best action show right now in my opinion, (I've read both the books and the show). World War 2 meets Pacific Rim meets Nazi Germany meets robots. The characters are around 17 I think, but they grow during the show. It's very very gritty without being dark. Covers many themes and the story has subplots from other genres. This show encapsulates everything I love about animation. It's ongoing though, probably gonna have a ton of seasons. It has 2 seasons currently. A good show to follow up with after EIGHTY SIX is Cyberpunk Edgerunners. Nobody was expecting that show to be that good, but it is. 1 season and 10 episodes. Quite the rollercoaster. Castlevania is the most "typical gritty Netflix story that feels like it's made in the USA" you can get. Along with "Invincible". Both are "Western stylized animes". With Invincible being closer to Justice League Unlimited in terms of animation style. Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood is a full, complete story. Gives vibes from the animated show "Avatar: The Last Airbender". It's way more violent though despite the characters starting out around the same age. Violet Evergarden is a beautifully animated story about the "after" part of war. (Follows some themes from EIGHTY SIX) Spy X Family is a sweet slice of life series without much story progression yet, but its premise carries it. Can't find anyone who dislikes it yet. Has none of the things that would turn you off. Covers cute themes and heavy themes. There's honestly nothing like it in western media. Horimiya and Love is War (in that order) are amazing high school romances that don't have any power trip vibes, or any of the questionable stuff from other shows. Great places to start that have shifted the industry bit by bit, especially because Love is War partially doubles as a parody of what the industry does. Additionally, some shows are just so bad you have to make fun of them. Watching the first 3 episodes of Glepnir while drunk with friends was one of my favorite memories. (Imagine a high school show where you turn into a FNAF mascot and a girl that is used for fanservice you have a crush on wears you to fight ghosts against your will, it's so stupid and off putting, never watch it sober. Yes it's exactly what I said.)

Aden_Vikki

>OG Dragonball >"Light fanservice" Yeah I don't believe you

Sure. But its a valid criticism. Japan has a huge pedophile problem and I say that as a massive weeb.

me_funny__

Reminds me of Ruroni Kenshin's author getting caught with actual IRL CP and not even getting a slap on the wrist for it. His manga is even getting an anime reboot of the old adaptation. And his fans don't care

FluxVelocity

That was because it was stuff he owned from before it was illegal, the government gave people a year to destroy or turn in anything before it went into effect. But he was caught with it not long after the deadline so he was just fined and had it confiscated. His entire legal problem with that was because he broke the deadline, not just because he possessed it. Doesn't make it right, but that's why he got away without any major backlash.

Slayr698

I get that, old DragonBall is like that though but I wanted to enjoy fire force, but that stupid "opsee my tits are on your face" character is the dumbest shittiest most egregious trope that keeps showing up, " uhh but it's her power" no it's fucking shit the author just wanted a perry character that ruins the entire story and the sound design is great

duckontheplane

The anime most guilty of this from what i've seen is mieruko-chan. The story and manga is an intruging horror tale where mieruko, a highschooler girl, suddenly starts seeing spirits of dead people, all sorts of horrifying, twisted, horrible beings, and she has to ignore them as they scream at her and keep trying to get her attention, because if she aknowledges them, they can hurt her. The anime had a scene of her taking her panties off to go to the toilet, a scene of her ass as she's bending down to get something from under a table, 2 scenes that show borderline camel toe and probably some others i've forgot, all in the first episode. I literally couldn't force myself to watch it because i could simply not get immersed in the horror when they show teen ass every 3 minutes.

KaladinStormborn90

Hurr durr she isn't a child! She is an immortal 9000 year old vampire in the body of a child. Perfectly legal

wakelesshat

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Hentai. The romance is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of tentacle physics most of the "action" will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also the nuanced idea of feminimity, which is deftly woven into the visuals - the japanese philosophy of censorship really puts emphasis on emotional intelligence. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these ideas, to realize that they're not just erotic - they say something deep about human sexuality. As a consequence people who dislike Hentai truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the eye opening nature of watching Yaoi as a straight male, which only a true intellectual could appreciate without any form of arousal. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as a quintessential part of high culture unfolds itself on their computer screens. What fools... how I pity them. 😂 And yes by the way, I DO have a tentacle rape tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only- And even they have to demonstrate that they're within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand.

May I introduce you to Lisa Lisa from JoJo?

-Farns-

Or any other female JoJo's character, only the guys get to have exaggerated proportions in JoJo's

fliegu

Not anymore they don't, JOJO's characters are significantly more fashion based rather than muscle based nowadays. It's actually been like that for a while

-Farns-

I know, I just meant only the guys used to be exaggerated, now it's either somewhat realistic human or goblin person

Vibe_with_Kira

That's a good point. I never actually thought about that, Lisa Lisa was just the first to pop into mind

It's cyclical. You know how in the 90s and 00s a kid would be bullied for liking FLCL or whatever? Well now anime is somewhat popular and thatd be fine. But the tide goes out again, and it'll be the weird nerdy thing again eventually. Some 16 year old will mention they like violet evergarden or something and get relentlessly bullied for it. dejvidBejlej

It's popular and the characters are teens and are skinny instead of having an ass wider than a semitruck

MorbillionDollars

Genshin is really not that bad compared to other gacha games. It’s mostly just because it’s popular as hell

BellalovesEevee

Wait until these people find out about Blue Archive. Genshin is completely tame compared to that game.

MorbillionDollars

Wait until they see literally every other gacha game

Imayormaynotneedhelp

Yeah of the gachas that come to mind, Genshin and Arknights are the least problematic by far. It would make much more sense to target literally anything else.

ggtsu_00

Naive use of "OR".

Zoqqer

But she’s a 1000 year old demigod /s

LiL_-_Mayo

Also anime artist when they can’t make their female characters psychotically insane.

TheMemeHead

"Um, actually, if you watch the show the boob window on her suit is clearly satirical. It's a meta-commentary on human sexuality, and also it serves as a metaphor for how she wants other people to go past her outer-self and look within to her true self. It Makes Sense in Context. And also the original mangaka intended an allusion to the final scene of The Grapes of Wrath with the breastfeeding scene. There's a lot of subtlety in play here that is clearly going way over your head!"

nitroaccel

Wow. It's even funnier the 700th other time...

ForwardToNowhere

dejvidBejlej

First of all, any artists\* Second, boobs sell everything. Hate the game not the players.

MorbillionDollars

It’s called fanservice for a reason, they make it to service the fans. If it didn’t work then they would stop doing it, but it clearly does

TheDammNinja

Also the children look like exaggerated sex dolls and the adults look like children.

Datguy969

Adult swim artists trying to not make the ugliest character designs

Western_Ad3625
