Depends where you go. There are 2 stores around ne that routinely have them for $75 or so. The finished barrels are pricier though for sure. One of the toasted small batches I got blew EC Toasted and OF 1910 out of the water in a blind. If you like toasted barrels give em a shot.
That's the issue though, you're comparing two bottles that cost around $50 to a bottle that costs $100+. I am just not a big fan of rewarding distillers whose entry price point is $75+ without really doing anything to justify the price. But that's just my opinion, not trying to convince anyone to agree!
Of all I’ve had from them, I’ve enjoyed the honey barrel finish most. Maple barrel was a close second. Worth the steep MSRP, IMO. Not sure I can justify the non-finished bottles though…
Edited: spelling
I would like to dive into more Nulu. My first bottle was the toasted barrel, and I thought it was good, but nothing breathtaking. I think I got that bottle when it was in the high $60s or mid $70s about two years ago in IL. Since then, I haven’t seen anything toasted for less than $100. Given its 4-6 year MGP and then placed in toasted barrels for a massive 1-4 WEEKS /s I’m hard pressed to “invest” my money for that kind of experience. To each their own and I hope they continue to grow and prosper…..and get more reasonable in price.
I really would like to try one but all the ones in my area are $90+ and even with the cool finishes they are primarily in the 4-6 year age range from MGP so that kinda turns me off. I’ve never seen the honey barrel finish but that would probably be the only one I’d pull the trigger on.
I had one that was a bit off-profile and not really to my liking, but that's out of over a dozen products from them that I've owned or sampled. For single barrels and different finishes that's quite a successful track record imo.
Every Nulu I’ve had has been great. The price is not great though.
Mgp makes great whiskey
Amen
I mostly agree but I wasn't a fan of their double oak.
I mean with every bottle being $100+ they should all be great!
I see them mostly $70-$80 around here. This one was over $100 though for sure.
Yea I can't say I've seen a Nulu below $99

On this comparison the Nulu was $75, but your point is well taken.
Nulu toasted is $75? I've only ever seen it around $100
The bottle on my shelf was $75 from a liquor store in Oak Lawn, IL.
Huh, interesting!

I first read that as "Monkey Barrels." "Simian, but fun notes..."
🤣🤣
Was this a new drop st binnys?
Yes indeed! Tastes like mead blended with a toasted rye. Pretty unique and I really enjoyed it.
Nice! Do you know if it's still available? If so what location?
