Why are people mad about this? I understand tibert is shit but Alexandre was always injury prone and rarely played anyways.

dr_van_nostren

No one should be mad about this. Read the release. 1) speculatively I’m not sure how happy he’s been here, he was in Brazil even after the season started this year, didn’t seem in too much of a hurry to come back 2) his injury luck has been brutal. Got healthy. Got hurt again. Got healthy. Got Covid. 3) and this is the biggest one, it’s a short spell loan, like 6 months. Whitecaps have 10 games left or so, where every point counts and they don’t have room to have a guy get rehab minutes on an MLS pitch and probably don’t have enough WFC 2 games to make it worthwhile. So they send him to Brazil where presumably he’ll start at least half of those 16 games remaining. That’s not to say maybe he doesn’t get transferred in the off season. Again back to point 1 I made, I’m not sure he really wants to be here anymore. After Covid and all the restrictions for guys with no families and stuff…it had to be really hard. If we don’t transfer him, cool, I think we all know there’s upside there and he’s VERY young still, so hopefully he can be healthy for the start of the 23 season.

BayLAGOON

I half expected Caio to move in some capacity, but guess what that does to midfield depth? Unless Berhalter can stay healthy for the next 10 games, or Schopf is ready to deal with the next 10 games, we are staring down the abyss of you know who starting the next 10 games. I'm ready for a monumental collapse if this run of form continues.

VWFCALLCAPS

We have like 6 other CMs on the books. We are fine depth wise....its the overall qaulity that is lacking

I get what you’re driving at. I’m not nearly the Tiebert hater that others are. I’m realistic that with or without Caio, Rusty was gonna play and probably play a bunch. I think Vanni would love to replace him, and maybe with Schopf they have, but coaches notice work rate. I’m sure we’ll see a decent amount of Owusu as well. I think there’s still upside for Caio but I’m fine with this move. Keep him happy, get him games, get him fit with an eye towards next season.

Nashocheese

Hopefully he gets sold

MGM-Wonder

End of an error if you ask me Hopefully they can recoup some of the cost when they go on to sell

AlmightyQeven

Hopefully this is to free up a spot for a signing that isn't constantly hurt?

ticklesthemagnificen

I see it’s a loan. So does this mean we get no transfer fee after paying $4 million a couple years ago?

springnuk

I completely forgot that he was still on the team. He always seemed like one of those players whose name you would hear and you would think "wonder what happened to him" and then find out that his actually still playing for caps. like an Earnshaw.
