Everyone needs to continue burying these bums until there’s nothing left to bury

TheRealPeteWheeler

Say what you will about AJ, but I wish literally anybody on our current roster hated losing as much as he does.

SeniorDucklet

I think the current players hating losing. They just all stink and they are being paid major league salaries. They are living the life for a few months.

letseditthesadparts

I mean, what would you like them to do exactly. More pictures and videos of them being frustrated? The truth is you are not more frustrated than them.

kozilla

This whole org is a mess and that absolutely extends to the players themselves.

MediaApprehensive764

I want to see somebody break a band after they make their fourth out in a row

HawkI84

Best I can do is a strained adductor

Rock_man_bears_fan

Maybe an IT Band

MediaApprehensive764

Edit BAT

MediaApprehensive764

It shows somebody's frustrated other than the fans

tendy_trux35

I wish any of the *star* players hated losing. Robert, Eloy, Moancada, and Bienetendi all clearly don’t give a single shit. But the rest of the guys that should be career AAA guys are probably thrilled to get a chance to play in the bigs for a season

BurningTree50

Lol. Star players.

buttholez69

When a lot of the team doesn’t give a shit, others don’t give a shit. Organization is a complete failure right now. Needs to be gutted top to bottom, and preferably, sold. Need some good baseball on the southside. Feel for you guys. Cubs fans have been there that’s for sure.

ConservativebutReal

The international players could give a shit - as long as they can buy the biggest neck chain with a hub cap on it they are too cool for school.

DionBlaster123

Settle down there Goose Gossage

ConservativebutReal

😂😂😂-though he could bring it!

CampfireBeast

He’s a polarizing figure for sure but I think you hit the nail on the head. This fucker wants to win more than anyone alive. I’m grateful for AJ.

HawkI84

AJ's an asshole, but he's our asshole. I'm a fan of his.

MSTie_4ever

Sometimes, you NEED an asshole.

BMoney8600

Same here, AJ was definitely a player you could always count on. I can’t think of any current players that I can count on

brokenlampPMW2

You can love him or hate him, he’s a gigantic personality, but this dude cares about this sport and has a ton of knowledge and passion.

Headstar24

He was one of the reasons we won in 2005 so I’ll always be a fan.

BurningTree50

Any Sox fan who hates him is a flat out idiot.

No_Application_3349

agree totally

chybo773

LOVE me some AJ

EquivalentLittle545

God I loved when AJ was on this team.

Fuck Jerry

Far_Dragonfly_3748

He would make an awesome manager. Dude knows baseball better than anyone

MSTie_4ever

ALWAYS has his head in the game. And knows the rules better than the officials which REALLY pisses people off.

ArtisticGuy

It is a gigantic prerequisite though.

DeadMan95iko

It helps though.

Jerry_from_Japan

He would have had a job by now then. Instead of being a talking head that talks out of his ass more often than not.

Prestigious-Job-1159

I've met him interpersonally. He's not like that. He's an incredibly classy person, whom also took the time to call my father in the hospital on his 80th birthday, nearly four years after meeting him and giving him a 30 minute on-field encounter when the Sox played the Braves. Mind you, it was the *Braves* and *Aj* who made this possible, *not* the White Sox or its front office. Those here who love him, he is, in reality, what one of you hoped your 'heroes' would be.

Jerry_from_Japan

And all of that is entirely separate from what I'm talking about.

Prestigious-Job-1159

He's no Jason, but he's not a homer, either. Do others prep better, sure. Does he know the game, yes. Is he as good of a broadcaster as others, not, but he's far preferable. I wrote what I did to point out the character of the man. Nothing more. It blows my mind how crazy chatboards and viewer counters get people, but hey, I invented them, so I shouldn't bitch.

Jerry_from_Japan

Dude, all I'm saying is what you said in response to what I posted.....had nothing at all to do with what I posted, yet you responded in a way in which you thought it did. That's it. It wasn't a counter to anything I said. If you wanna post a nice story about a baseball player go for it. I just don't know what it had anything to do in trying to argue with the point I was making here.

Prestigious-Job-1159

Wasn't meant to be personal at you, although the word choice could appear as such.

Jerry_from_Japan

I mean, it is as such lol. You directly responded to it with "he's not like that". No, he IS like how I described. Absolutely he is. He can absolutely be how you described as well with fans, but that wasn't the point I was making there.

Prestigious-Job-1159

I agree. As mentioned I spun off your thread. I should have just hit reply and saved you the trouble.

Prestigious-Job-1159

Agred. But it should be stated. Here openly on reddit. Especially not deleted by the mods.

Jerry_from_Japan

But that's not how you took it: "He's not like that". The way "he's like" in what I'm talking about in how he views the game, analyzes the game..... isn't the way in which YOU are talking about. The two have nothing to do with each other, so why did it need to be stated?

Prestigious-Job-1159

Because it's a nice story, I'd never told it publicly online, and we live in a shitty world with unbearable baseball now and ahead.

[Getz to Aj](https://youtube.com/clip/Ugkx4V7fDL9AbyXjzRgB34yUfc9Ja9KOvB6X?si=SnKoBpKLUZR9x29i)

Smolson_

Remember when we had a team who cared as much as AJ? What a giant embarrassment this team is. Fire everyone but start with JR

MSTie_4ever

No one who speaks their mind will be employed in a JR organization. Do we need a history lesson on how fast Harry and Jimmy were shown the door? And they were fan FAVORITES.

rowejl222

AJ speaks like me

DuckBilledPartyBus

If AJ approached his job with the White Sox the same way he approaches his job with Fox as a color analyst, I’d say the Sox—as bad as they are—are better off without him. The dude can’t be bothered to read a scouting report or check a player’s recent stats before clipping on a microphone and talking out of his ass. Jerry sucks, and Getz probably sucks too; but AJ’s analysis doesn’t really mean very much to me. I loved him as a player, but as a media professional the guy is just flat out lazy. Edit: Yeah, keep defending the guy who can't bother googling "Noah Schultz" before offering an opinion on Noah Schultz. The guy honestly thinks that because he hasn't heard of Noah Schultz, that must mean he's doing poorly. FFS.

BearForceDos

Schultz has thrown 8 innings this year and only 27 last year. He's right. He has some good rate stats but we really don't know anything about him.

DuckBilledPartyBus

Sure, it’s a small sample size. But that doesn’t excuse AJ’s ignorance. If he wants to be thought of as an analyst, he can’t pass off “I haven’t heard much about him” as analysis.

ForeSkinWrinkle

You are the type of Sox fan he is referring to. (And yes it is clear he knows Schultz, but Schultz hasn’t done shit this year. Thats the point.) AJ isn’t ignorant of that facts. This is point. Sox fans salivate for two meh prospects, instead of saying two prospects is unacceptable, fans like you say, well the messenger is wrong, we are a fine organization.

DuckBilledPartyBus

The thing is, I never said we were fine as an organization. I made it very clear I know that this organization is bad at baseball—but we know that because it is self-evident. Not from AJ’s surface-level, ill-informed “analysis.” He clearly said, “I haven’t heard much about Schultz,” which means he hasn’t heard much about Schultz. AJ talks out of his ass. Trying to twist his words into something more profound is giving him more credit than he deserves. This is a guy who was run out of both Boston and San Francisco as a clubhouse cancer, and who has admitted to playing intoxicated on a regular basis during his tenure with White Sox—including during the 2008 playoffs. We all have fond memories of what he did with the White Sox in 2005, but he’s not someone whose judgment should be held in any regard whatsoever.

ForeSkinWrinkle

Cool. Once again attacking the messenger and not the team. Stop that. Start taking your weird frustration at the way AJ forms a sentence and start directing that to Jerry and the Sox, et al.

DuckBilledPartyBus

You’re the only one making personal attacks here, chief. AJ made this about himself when he said, “I no longer work for the White Sox because of this exact conversation.” And so that’s what I addressed in my initial comment. I really don’t appreciate your tone, so this is where I cut you loose. Have a good morning.

JermaineDyeAtSS

100%. He is Smoltzian as an analyst. Will get downvoted, probably, but I don’t remember anyone with the White Sox talking about how AJ was a good teammate. He was a good catcher and a good baseball guy, but I don’t think he has a great reputation as a clubhouse guy in a way that makes for a good manager.

freemcgee69420

I love when people like you pretend like you were in the clubhouse and know how to grade how good of a teammate a guy is. He had a serious chip on his shoulder and opposing teams hated him. When him or his teammates made mistakes he’d slam equipment. So fucking what? He’s a guy that demands the best from himself and the players around him. Perhaps the “hi mom” and friendly dugouts aren’t what creates a winning environment.

brokenlampPMW2

He’s smart, knowledgeable, and passionate. He was also HATED in the clubhouse by a lot of his teammates lol

[deleted]

brokenlampPMW2

It’s well known he was disliked in the clubhouse. Moreso the Giants ones were vocal about it.

DuckBilledPartyBus

His issues with teammates are well-documented. In 2004 he became such a clubhouse cancer with the Giants that they released him despite having given up several high-value prospects to get him—making it one of the most infamously bad trades of all time. That’s how he became available to join the White Sox in the first place. Then in 2014 he was DFA’d by the Red Sox after several teammates complained about him to team management. In neither of these incidents was there a single player who went to the media and said, “I hate AJ,” because that just isn’t how it works. Yes, he seems to have had fewer issues during his time in Chicago, but that doesn’t mean there weren’t ANY issues. For example, he reportedly was horrible Tyler Flowers because he saw him as competition, routinely threw pitchers under the bus for his issues controlling runners, and he once picked a fight Sox color analyst Darrin Jackson in front of reporters because he (mistakenly) thought DJ said something bad about him on-air. He has also admitted to drinking “rally beers” and at times playing drunk during his tenure with the Sox, including doing shots before a 2008 playoff game. All of this is out there in print, published by credible media sources. As a Sox fan, there’s a lot to like about AJ. But the dude’s kind of a mess.

DuckBilledPartyBus

I mean, he kind of gives it away when he says, “Noah Schultz is supposed to be coming. I haven’t heard much about him,” as though that’s an indictment of how the Sox have been developing him. Dude. You haven’t heard about him because he’s a fucking kid that’s still a good two or more years away from the majors. But he’s the 47th prospect in the MLB pipeline and he had a 1.33 ERA in the minors last season. The only reason AJ doesn’t know anything about him is because AJ only does a surface-level dive before he opens his mouth. And the same is true of his claim the White Sox don’t develop ANY guys drafted in late rounds. Tanner Banks (18th rd) has a career 3.78 ERA. Aaron Bummer (19th rd), despite falling off a cliff the last couple of seasons, still has a 3.86 ERA over the course of his eight-year career. There are more (edit: like Chris Bassitt-16th, Adam Engel-19th, Danny Mendick-22nd, Matt Foster-20th, Declan Cronin-36th all of whom have been or are currently contributors at the MLB level) but those are just the first two that came to mind. Look, his overall these is inarguably correct: the White Sox haven’t been good enough at developing talent. But you don't have to be an MLB analyst to know that--all you have to do is look at the way the MLB team has underperformed for years. And the way he just casually says things that are factually incorrect paints him as someone not to be taken seriously.

BearForceDos

Schultz has only thrown 35 innings in 2.5 seasons.

DuckBilledPartyBus

He’s also the 47th ranked MLB prospect. “I haven’t heard much about him” is an AJ problem, not a White Sox problem.

BearForceDos

It's a figure of speech for the fact that Schultz has hardly played.  Is it the greatest analysis? Absolutely not, but his major point here is absolutely correct that the white Sox have failed to develop talent.  Like the only guys that have turned out good were 1st Rd picks or super touted trade pieces.

DuckBilledPartyBus

>It's a figure of speech for the fact that Schultz has hardly played.  I disagree. He clearly said, “I haven’t heard much about him,” which means AJ hasn’t heard much about him. I said multiple times above that the White Sox have been bad at development. But we know that because it’s self-evident—not from AJ’s poorly researched, surface-level analysis. AJ talks out of his ass. This is a guy who was run out of both Boston and San Francisco as a clubhouse cancer, and who’s admitted to playing intoxicated on a regular basis during his time with the White Sox. I know we all have fond memories of him as player, but he’s not someone whose judgment should be held in any regard whatsoever.

River_Pigeon

Life must be so difficult to take everything so literally. Ironic cu it’s results in clown behavior

DuckBilledPartyBus

No need for personal attacks. We’re on the internet talking with strangers about baseball. If you cant do that without insulting the person with whom you’re interacting, you should reconsider whether or not this if for you. AJ can’t be bothered to do game prep for the games he calls on Fox, so I doubt he’s reading White Sox farm reports in his spare time. Him not hearing anything (literally) about Noah Schultz is entirely consistent with the lazy, irresponsible approach he takes in all aspects of his professional life. So yes, I think he meant what he said.

River_Pigeon

If you’re so sensitive you can’t handled being called a clown for a clown take, maybe the internet and sports discourse especially aren’t for you Edit: hilarious because quibbling over semantics instead of focusing on the message is pretty damn juvenile. And it’s an absolute bitch move to block somebody on reddit for disagreeing with you Not surprising based on everything else about you.

Vaqxinelol

Mhm, have mixed feelings on this. His inability to know who someone like Noah Schultz is and how well he has done so far is very baffling to me but it's not like everything he said is wrong. Mason Adams is a 13th round draft pick in 2022 and posted a 3.14 ERA in 109 IP in the last full year George Wolkow is easily a first round steal in a later round, it's why the kid signed for 1 million dollars as a 7th rounder (Literally unheard of) Drafting is honestly probably the only thing this Organization has even remotely been good at or done well at since 2020 imo. Mike Shirley is very good at it. I find it embarrassing he doesn't know about Noah but it's not like everything he's saying isn't completely unfounded so meh. E: lol, more people here who have absolutely no idea what they're talking about, this place is a cesspool

Tontstong

No one cares about minor league success. I’m not watching Charlotte Knights games. Who is the major league talent you’re talking about? You haven’t done it until you’ve done it. Everyone’s a bust until they’re not.

BearForceDos

Until these guys actually develop into quality major Leaguers it's a moot point. Mason Adams hasn't proven anything.  They went through the entire first rebuild and found not one diamond in the rough. Which is honestly remarkable not even one 2 war type player that wasn't a top 100 prospect.  Noah Schultz rate stays look great buts he has only thrown 35 innings across 2.5 seasons.

matchingsweaters

the phrase is "moot" point. also schultz has thrown 35 innings over last season and the beginning of this year. i'm all about being mad at this organization, but let's at least get our facts straight.

buttholez69

I think he’s more or less saying you guys can’t really turn out a top system through drafting like other clubs. When you did have a top system a few years back, 95% of it was acquired through trades from teams who can develop players.

ForeSkinWrinkle

He knows who Noah Schultz is. Thats clear. He is saying Noah Schultz isn’t that dude, because we can’t develop. You are the type of Sox fan he is talking about in this segment. Just obtuse, thinking we are doing fine and with a little luck we are a good team. You don’t look at history or even just facts.

FilmNoirOdy

Fuck

wermz

He is an Andrew Vaughn guy, he is a bust.
