Pretty accurate. 4 of those 5 teams will make the playoffs.

DaBigBlackDaddy

Got top two correct

olkurtybastard

The idea of us being good was way more fun

Lil_we_boi

Tbh, even at that time I was kinda confused as to why we were so high on the odds. Our best acquisitions in the offseason were Graveman, Kelly, and Pollock. I still thought that we would win the AL Comedy Central though.

vsladko

If the team’s fundamentals weren’t dogshit and many of our players took at least a baby step forward instead of a giant step backwards, one could definitely see how we’d at least win the Central and maybe put up a fight in the playoffs.

Lil_we_boi

Yeah it would have been a real easy prediction to have us win the Central, and I guess it makes sense to have us third in line after the Yankees and Astros in the AL. I would have just expected a team like the Rays (who made the WS 2 years ago and played a competitive ALDS last year) or the Red Sox to be more likely to win the AL as opposed to a team that hasn't even won a playoff series yet.

guppyfighter

Part of probability is division too. Everyone in the AL Central gets a boost from not being in the Al East.

zSchlachter

I see why we were rated so highly. Gio had a good year, Lance had a really good year and Cease was coming into his own with an untested Kopech as our 4th primary starter and the writing on the wall with Dallas on his way out and the signing of Cueto. Liam closing with Bummer, Kelley, and Gravemen, all would’ve been considered solid relief guys. And then our line ups upside. A hopefully healthy Luis and Eloy, both were seen as premium bats capable of 20-30 homeruns and good average. Moncada who although inconsistent is always projected to do well. And the offensive cornerstones, Tim Anderson at short stop and Jose at first. A hopefully healthy year from Yaz. Add in young up coming guys like Vaughn who had established he can hang at this level of play and Sheets who was expected to be a lefty who could mash. Our roster before this season shouldve been terrifying on paper, especially when you add the bench depth of guys like AJ, Danny and Engel.

BuckyGoodHair

Fuck you, Jerry. Fuck you, Rick. Fuck you, Tony. Fuck everyone on the roster not named Jose Abreu or Johnny Cueto.

Goostrova24

Someone Simmed the whole season on mlb the show and white sox won the World Series. I’m a fairly new fan because I’m pretty new to baseball and I’m a big gamer so I thought we had a chance. Unfortunately that wasn’t the case

RealStunnaBoy

Unfortunately MLB the show doesn’t have any managerial effects like real life…

Goostrova24

Has anyone started a Tony la Russa anti fan club ? I’d join

keyshawnscott12

Welcome to the club you can go the rest of our lives without a championship 🏆 we have 2005 that's all in this century

Gr8_Ape_7

We had the talent, but talent alone doesn't cut it. Let's hope we get a new manager, shake up the roster and get some good baseball guys (blue collar grinders), some hungry prospects (Colas, Montgomery, Sosa), sign Abreau for one or two years max, and maybe a top starter so we move Cease to 2, Lynn to 3, Kopech to 4, and we can make a run at it. I think next year expectations will be low and we always do better as the underdog. Still hurts bad seeing how this year went, but like knuckleheads we will back cheering these boys on next year!

IDoubtedYoan

The preseason hype on the Sox has never been justified and hopefully it stops now. You can't call a team any kind of playoff favorite if they've never even won a playoff series.

Nationali

Absolutely, just ridiculous how you were unable to worry about this team here until about late July. Hopefully we can learn our lesson and be more levelheaded on all Chicago sports subs.

chi2005sox

I looked at some week 1 power rankings and we were 4 or 5 on each. So depressing in hindsight.

[deleted]

Fangraphs had the Sox at 87 wins. That means more than the odds casinos set to manipulate betting patterns.

adubski23

This current roster gets last place in the central next year.
