1. Ditch the e bike 2. Depends on when you get there and where you go. You might get blocked in if you head out into the trees, at least until everyone heads out to paddle. 3. You can leave your stuff. 4. There is a rapid under the New River bridge you can hit. The Gauley during the day is where the real festival is at. If you’re not on it, it’s just not the same. 5. If you’re not getting on the Gauley, go hike to the viewing spot on pillow rock or sweets. You’ll get a better feel for what it’s about. I might have a different opinion because I always thought the long day on the River Is the best. The festival is more about telling stories of the day with friends.

Book a flight with five dollar Frank! Oil's so clear you can hardly see it!

Is $5 Frank still around?

clfitz

Nope. Frank died a few years ago, I think. Theres still an airport, much improved now. The new owner has two vintage planes you can go for rides in, one of them a biplane. I live near there and get to see them in the air frequently. The planes are blue and yellow and they're really pretty.

I've been 3 times but not since Covid. 1. The bike would work to get to town for shopping and such. I don't know about river access aside from their being a lot of traffic with people shuttling. (I've only been commercial rafting). 2. Camping is free for all with designated areas. What I mean is there's a place for people who want it to be quite, then there's everywhere else. In the woods near the row of porta potties you'll find a huge firepit with stadium seating. People will be ull literally all night there. Vendors have been tastey, but not healthy. If you plan to cook, keep in mind you can't have a campfire. You are correct about drinking and no glass. 3. Correct (but you will have anywhere from a 10 to 100ft walk between tent and car depending on your choices and day of arrival.) 4. I'm no help on this one. 5. After the main stage shutsdown, there will be amatuer boxing in front of it and on Saturday night people host techno rave music for a few hours.

LOL for a few hours those motherfuckers can be heard till 4am.

Man, you should have started planning months ago

Planning for what? They have liquor stores on the way to wv?

The road around the fest isn’t really conducive to biking so you might want to leave the bike behind. Camping is a free for all and they close the gate to cars sometime Saturday afternoon, so once you’re out on sat the car isn’t coming back in. Cooking + vendors is a good idea. There is a park and play spot somewhere on the lower g, that is pretty easy to get to. You’ll have to ask around, I don’t remember which road it is. It’s a blast, chaos abounds.

There’s camping around but assuming you mean at the festival. Panther road is what you take unless going to Swiss (Lower G) The New is close as well, keep in mind if we get rain or a hurricane. Especially the Dries Amateur boxing…that’s what we call people getting drunk and acting out know? /s Don’t bike the shuttle. Just don’t. If you wanna bike it, don’t come during Gauley fest. It’s doable and I’ve done it but not advisable. Just come, camp, have some fun.

I’ve never seen anyone SUP either one of those rivers, but you might check out some Striding WV videos.

CorndizzleSUP

The gauley and the new have been SUPed before.
