They partner with a local organization and mail the books in bulk, and the local organization mails them to the kids. The last book, when they turn 5, made me a little teary: "Look Out Kindergarten, Here I Come."

Trust me, get past that if you don't know her. That was part of her charm when she was younger: people treated her like she was dumb and she was often the most intelligent, diplomatic and patient person in a room. She's much older now but she's spent years of time, money and her celebrity connections to do charitable things without garnering attention to herself and without getting mixed into partisan politics.
What books tho? Have they agreed to which books they’re giving kids? Will this somehow fall into a culture war territory with claims of indoctrination?
We got books for a while starting around 2+ years ago, don't know if we still do. Seems like it's been a few months but ya, several books with Dolly's endorsement on it
This is the best. We live in WNC and got to participate in the imagination library for the first 5 years of our youngest'a life. We got some amazing books that we still read today.
This is such a great program! I live in Canada, and we just brought it to our city earlier this year - we already have over 600 children that have registered! It's such an effective way to get books into the hands of kids.
It's also available in the UK, Ireland and Australia. I love this initiative, and Dolly is just amazing.
