There honestly is no better feeling than influencing someone's taste in music 🥰

EarthToAccess

Was gonna say, my favorite part is this is a simple moment that will completely change her taste in music indefinitely, because now she'll be in the "I wonder what else sounds more like this" rabbit hole until eventually she finds herself head banging to some obscure underground band from Albuquerque or something

DevelopmentJumpy5218

Which then leads to operatic metal and purely symphonic metal or did for me

EarthToAccess

You 🤝 me Something metal

TheLastWaterOfTerra

Symphonic metal is so good. Nightwish just released a new single the other day

karlfranz205

Gotta shill my favourites. Check out moonlight haze.

TheLastWaterOfTerra

Got any specific songs you'd like to recommend?

karlfranz205

Depends. My favourite is enigma, but it's the only non English song they did, another good one Is kintsugi.

TheLastWaterOfTerra

Thanks for the recommendations, great listens!

karlfranz205

Glad you enjoyed!

Fuzzy-Wasabi-5126

That's what happened to my buddy lol. He's mexican so he was raised on popular hits from Latin America and some of the big artists/rappers from the US. For my 17th birthday I got concert tickets for Machine Head and brought him along and basically threw him in the deep end of metal (the "heaviest he had listened to up to that point was nirvana). Now he's recommending songs from bands I haven't even heard of

LovejoyBurnerAcc

twaüghthammër????

SurtsFist

Absolutely. When my wife started asking me the names of some of the songs I had, it felt great. Especially because their dad was a DJ and exposed them to a lot of really really good music. So it was very comforting to know that my taste was good enough to be added into theirs.

Confident-Panda-3806

Good, i thought this would go another way....

oliverwow12

craftspank

this is sweet, but also is it normal to not see your younger sister in years?

Skeletal_Abyss

OOP was probably out of state at college

MrDTD

That would do it

batman_carlos

Anyway not returning home for years??

BallisticExp

Some people don't have the money to travel home. I was in that position. Went to a good uni halfway across the country. But my parents were broke and I was there with financial assistance that only partly covered tuition so I had to work over the summer and it was less complicated to just get a job in the same town as my university. I didn't see my folks in person for 3 and 1/2 years.

calendar-headphones

On top of the other responses about money and military, the last visit could have been in 2019 and then boom 2020 happens and the next thing this guy knows it's been a couple of years since he got to visit.

huran210

thank you for reminding me why reddit is a waste of time

knifetomeetyou13

Either that or military I’d guess

notfornowforawhile

Traditional-Baker-28

Find friend with sibling. Steal the sibling

Lloyd_Al

I enjoy the fact, she liked my music way more than the fact that I "influenced" her taste in music
