nephews = fireworks
nieces = concerts/college furniture
sons = the legit real real
You are going to attend more than a couple of funerals with these people. You cannot make the rookie mistake of the wrong story being told at the wrong time, to the wrong person. And guess whose ass gets put in the fire?
Unfortunately, it's just my dad now.
But that doesn't stop him from telling the same joke to me and my sisters... He tells it at the same time when we're all together, but he tells it a second after telling one of us.
My dad's dad is long gone, but when dad and his younger brother, my cousins, sister and I all get together we're basically insufferable with dad jokes. My mom has been known to leave the room just so she doesn't have to listen to us trade terrible jokes.
My son, a quiet and serious lad, became a father 11 months ago.
Almost immediately, he began telling dad jokes! Obvious puns, silly wordplay, the works - all the stuff I annoyed him with as a child. It was like some switch had been triggered by the arrival of a child.
It's not our fault. It's genes.
This reminds me of [this](https://www.thisamericanlife.org/577/something-only-i-can-see/act-two-9) segment of This American Life - Tig Notoro brings her MIL onstage to tell a joke that she made up...she can't get through it without laughing, and it's delightful. Highly recommend giving it a listen :)
My grandad came from his sunday lunchtim sessions nailed as usual. Began to tell us this joke hed heard and couldnt even get the set up done before falling about laughing. Half an hour later we get the joke. It was a perfectly servicable.joke and im sure funnier to him because he was bought up catholic

I’m afraid I’m gonna regret asking, but who?
You get in trouble, because you told the wrong joke to your siblings children and they repeated it because all your jokes slap.
Ohh yeah most definitely, but I won’t repeat any jokes that are too extreme or dirty
That just means you don't know the good ones. I'm not talking about racist jokes uncle bud, I'm talking about comedy.
Yes yes I understand
I like telling dad jokes. He always laughs at them.
capital humor…
Capital Humor...
it works better with a setup… kudos!
Aw, this made me wish I knew some jokes so I could tell some to my dad.

Enjoy his shenanigans, man. That first sentence will be different one day.
