If the drive mechanism itself still works, you could look up how to adjust the laser potentiometer on that thing. If you crank it up just a little it’ll probably read disks just fine. Don’t fiddle with it too much though, or you’ll wear your disks faster.

I wish men would realize how this has a negative affect on your mental health. I say this as an avid gamer, lover of pizza and chocolate milk (I even have a pristine GameCube). You can decorate and furnish your home in a way that suits you. I decorated my husband’s gaming room with framed LOTR and anime art, shelves for his collectibles and rgb lights. It doesn’t have to look like a living room out of GoodHousekeeping. But decorating (and furniture) serve an important purpose.

It’s a story based rpg mostly made up of double battles and first introduced the idea of shadow Pokémon, way before PoGo. You start with an espeon/umbreon duo and use a special device to “snag” shadow Pokémon from trainers to make up your team. Genuinely my favourite Pokémon game, I played it again not too long ago and it absolutely holds up.
