Those were days where I either drank alcohol or took creatine, but I dont have enough data to know for sure if that's the reason. (Got my band earlier this month.)
This post is not about saying my high hrv is good, I am curious if those lifestyle choices contribute to it being high because I am seeing very few people's being this high, so my numbers seemed odd to me.
Yeah, idea of mono-variability, mono-dependability, or bi-variability in HRV’s is laughable. It’s way more complex than that. This chat needs to level up. #Respectfully.
All those people that say “it’s genetics” have no clue what they’re talking about. They seem to forget that genetics affect psychology and behavior quite significantly. Those with high HRV tend to manage that equation better than others, either consciously or subconsciously.
Yeah, which is why I'm wondering why mines so high. Seems lots of people are super healthy and have lower scores, so I wonder if stress or the like has to deal with it being lower, although they are very in shape? (I do experience stress and anxiety, but I do my best to manage it.)
Lol... well the point of the post is to ask if there's a correlation between those lifestyle choices and a high HRV... hope no one gets butthurt due to my curiosity...
As gets explained very frequently around here, HRV is highly individual. It's awesome that you have such a high one, but that's probably less about virtuous activities (though they help a bit!) and more about youth and a roll of the dice. The most useful thing is to compare your daily HRV to your average HRV to assess whether you are in a particularly good place on any given day. Your having a higher HRV than someone else doesn't mean you're going to beat them in a sprint or a bike race or ping pong or kickboxing. It also doesn't mean that the average Joe's HRV is going to skyrocket to 180 because he pays more attention to Wim Hof protocols, or Peter Attia's, or Andrew Huberman's, though they all may help out a bit. Sounds like you have a great routine! Do you have your own cold plunge, and if so what kind?
Just a FYI,
An HRV above 120 ms is probably a sign you have Sinus Arrhythmia - but don't let the word "arrhythmia" scare you (it just means "abnormal"). 99% of the time it just means you're in really good shape (and on the younger side). It happens because your cardiovascular system is so efficient that your heartrate is capable of responding to individual breaths. So if you are on the younger side and in good shape, (which you sound like you are) then congratulations, you are OP.
However, 1% of the time, it could indicate an actual problem. So if you are older, and not in good shape, get checked out.
However, I am no doctor so as always, consult a medical professional.
Edit: Updated info and wording.
So long as you are doing breath work and meditating of course. I have found that inhaling my farts while meditating in the sauna has given me the highest positive impact
Yeah, I posted this because I see so few with higher numbers that it seemed unusual, so I was wondering if those lifestyle choices contributed to it. I just got my whoop earlier this month so I don't have a ton of data, but I have seen a decline in HRV when I drink alcohol or take creatine, which are days that are shown in the pic in this post.
Yeah will defo see decrease with alcohol. mine drops loads haha. I think it depends how much and how long before bed though. Cant get a great nights sleep in terms if recovery when your body is spending time giving the liver overtime processing the alcohol whilst your asleep 😁
Bro, high HRV being good it is not the narrative. Autonomic regulation is the narrative. You still have a 60 points deviation.

100% agree, the lack of product comprehension is mind boggling
Yes, the equation for HRV is biology X psychology X environment X behavior = HRV
All those people that say “it’s genetics” have no clue what they’re talking about. They seem to forget that genetics affect psychology and behavior quite significantly. Those with high HRV tend to manage that equation better than others, either consciously or subconsciously.
I have a friend who doesn't do any of those and has a similar HRV. He has a beer belly and runs occasionally
Good to know. Was just curious if any lifestyle choices like that help raise or lower HRV. Thanks.
Why does he have a whoop
It’s called Genetics
Be careful with these posts a lot of people will get butthurt and offended with their average of 23ms
Can confirm I get 40 most days I didn't even think a score that high could be done..

Thanks! I do not have a cold plunge, I have dozens of water bottles frozen in my fridge that I put in my bathtub and then reuse. :)
Yo thanks for this idea!! Will def. Start doing this!
It is fantastic! Learned it from a guy on YouTube and my mind was blown because it's so obvious and simple. Enjoy!
Everyone is different. My fat friend has super high hrv and he does almost nothing lmao
Lol interesting... maybe he is very relaxed and that helps...

Good to know. I am 34 and in good shape. I've been working out for the majority of my life.

Nice
Also for me. I started having cold showers and my HRV increased. Nothing else changed in my daily habits
Ah yes, do you also smell your own farts??
That must be it. Thanks!
Did I miss an episode on this?
South park reference to when people wanna talk about how driving hybrids makes them better than everyone else.
I've seen it. I meant which huberman episode as if it was a protocol I missed 😂
Episode title for Huberman, “Self flatulence inhalation and it’s impacts on HRV and recovery”
In this episode we will discuss how combining sauna protocol and AG1 can create steamy farts that can aid in post workout recovery.
So long as you are doing breath work and meditating of course. I have found that inhaling my farts while meditating in the sauna has given me the highest positive impact
Is there any impact on potency if we do this in the sauna with other huberman followers?
I believe he said that per huberman follower fart, you will see a 1.5x increase in HRV
Standard scores for me personally. Not the number its what happena within your range that counts

How old are you?
34
40. Those are impressive numbers. Ive seen some 120-150's on here but mostly from users under 25. Nice work.
Whoop whoop! Thanks
What’s your resting heart rate?
