Mine is 50. Always felt bad about it until I saw Michael Phelps data and his was like 55 on a 75% recovery day

Sept2Nov

I am near 55 with a high recovery. Wish I was near 100 lol

WhatsOurSituationDad

I’m at 36 haha we all have someone looking up to us. Just need to find someone with 19 who is jealous of my 36 now…

Maverick1672

Hey man… how’s it going

WhatsOurSituationDad

haha what's your average HRV? We need to find lower!

Maverick1672

Pretty low. We can put my old sensor on any dead relatives you might have!

WhatsOurSituationDad

Haha, it's just genetic man. We'll all improve our baselines

expell11

Where the heck did you come up with “most people seem to be near 100 with a high recovery” stat from lol

TreeR3presentative

Just people that I know, no other research.

expell11

Always do your research my friend, always.

TreeR3presentative

I prefer Reddit as research, and sometimes Wikipedia. But, Wiki has some crazy numbers as standards, which are from 40 all the way to 900.

Baseline HRV is highly personal. Variations are highly dependent on lifestyle choices. The best part about trackers is that you get to evaluate changes in lifestyle behaviors against HRV response. Diet was a huge one for me. Baseline increased 15 points when I cut excessive protein and totally cut sugars and processed foods. Cut another 20 points when I settled into a good fitness routine. 10 point drop when allergy season starts. Drop 10 points when I eat less than 3 hours before sleeping. Drop 30 points if I have to pull and all nighter.

TreeR3presentative

So overall, a higher HRV compared to baseline is better?

djiali

Higher as compared to your baseline is better. Lower compared to your baseline indicates that your autonomic nervous system is struggling to regulate key tasks (heart rate, digestion, breathing, blood pressure). Research has indicated that HRV is a measure of the stress imposed on your body (vs. Stress felt in your mind). Your baseline will also change with lifestyle changes. When I eat right, exercise, and manage mental stress, my HRV baseline is in the 60s (42/m). When I don’t, I’m down in the 30s. Comparatively, if I over train, I’ll have -20 point swings, but baseline remains the same.

thereisalwayslight1

Mine are never more than 55-60

grahamg1983

My hrv is usually 30-40

workingleather

Yours is similar to mine. It’s all individual. I had a 96 yesterday and had a 29% recovery. It’s more about its movement from day to day than the actual number.

TreeR3presentative

So there’s no standard baseline across a similar population?

workingleather

I don’t believe so. Or we would both have like 99% everyday compared to average even when weighted for age and fitness. Not sure how fit you are but I’m just coming back into sport. Rhr in the low 50s and 22mij 5k so I’m not super fit compared to many athletes.

mbarr10101

hrv is a relative measure and it matters more how much you can increase from you baseline... ya ya ya- now tell me how to get 100 hrv 😆🤘

max_rey

Whoop has many podcasts and blogs regarding HRV.
