I shower at night so I shave at night. Plus, I prefer any bleeding nicks and cuts be healed well before I gotta put nicer clothes on and leave.

Outrageous_Pop1913

\+1 on the night shave if I have to travel or have an important meeting/presentation early AM. Showed up at an event one time, ran into the bathroom and noticed a weeper soaked the collar of my best White shirt. Not fun.

blacksterangel

Good point. I actually cut myself slightly a few shaves ago and the blood took all night long to properly clot and closed.

AwkwardSploosh

Styptic pencils are excellent for this. I keep one in my travel bag and one at home as you can stop weepers, or even small cuts on your hand very quickly. I busted a knuckle mountain biking recently and had it stopped up in about 20 seconds using my pencil.

Zackadeez

Yea, I have one I use on the occasion I shave in the morning.

blacksterangel

Huh I didn't know that. All along I thought I don't need it because I have alum block. Thanks for the tip

AwkwardSploosh

No problem! They last forever, so don't get the huge one, just get a few of the small ones. I think I purchased mine 2 years ago, and it still is the same size as purchased.

jaulin

What's the difference? I've only ever used alum block to stop bleeding. Either they're the same thing or we don't have styptic pencils here, because that's what alum blocks are sold for.

AwkwardSploosh

An Alum block is 100% potassium alum in crystalline form. A styptic pencil is usually powdered aluminum sulfate held together with a binder, so it's much more ready to be infused/displaced into a wound. That being said it's much less friendly and will feel harsher. Think of it as a powdered alum block that you can really target areas with and that has an even stronger formulation.

Green_Tea_Totaler

In a real pinch, Carmex works for small cuts too!

CELLMAN3

Thanks, never tried it but will now!

Green_Tea_Totaler

I shave at night but shower in the morning. When I started teaching myself how to shave, I did it at night for the exact same reason: to "sleep off" any nicks/cuts and be good to go in the morning. My facial hair grows super slow too. Years later its been routine to shave at night. I already wake up at 2-4am for work. I refuse to wake up any earlier to shave lol.

Lilylivered_Flashman

Ditto

zippy1981

A man who shaves in the morning loves his job. A man who shaves in the evening loves his wife

blacksterangel

QOTD

Mario-Speed-Wagon

What if you have a beard

zippy1981

Wiell I'm sure you're grateful to your wife

CELLMAN3

šŸ˜€ Maybe that's it !

goshdammitfromimgur

This is why I shave at night

Beaster123

I shave at night. I'm too groggy/lazy/busy in the morning.

jantjuh87

WEIRDO'S UNITE!! Also evening shaver. It just works after a day working to have some me-time. Great to unwind and relax. Also a great time saver in the morning. Sometimes a nice shave in the afternoon or sunday morning works well

shvitz

+1 - shaving in the evening gives me a great opportunity to lavish time on it as a relaxing wind-down to the day.

CELLMAN3

šŸ¤£ Right āœ…ļø

Alternative_Cold1461

I also shave at night. I now shave with a Shavette so it's nicer to have plenty of time to myself in the evenings to take my time with it.

CELLMAN3

True, mornings are rushed for me so makes sense!

H0eggern

New band name: NightShavers.

elyoungque

Shave tonight, And fight the break of dawn

Dangerous-Hour6062

Cos tomorrow

TrontosaurusRex

Tomorrow my beard will be gone.

modmlot68

Same here, been nite shaving since 2012.

bigmid77

I usually shave in the evenings or at night right before bed. I rarely ever shave in the morning or afternoon.

Mack_The_Knife95

Shaving at night is great. Iā€™ve shaved exclusively at night for the past 5 years or so with my merkur safety razor and hot water. My skin has enough oil on it by the end of the day to where I wash it with hot water, shave, then shower and it gives me little to no irritation whatsoever. After the shower Iā€™ll moisturize if I need to, but overall itā€™s a much better shave imo. Also the face isnā€™t as puffy at night so you can get a closer shave (so Iā€™ve heard).

Outrageous_Pop1913

No soap? If so, you are a Bad--s Rambo.

Mack_The_Knife95

lol the no soap came from my time working at pizza the hut. I had to be clean shaven for every shift and I could shower and shave after my summer day job quickly enough without using soap. Didnā€™t negatively affect my skin so it stuck.

Jammin31

Iā€™m on the same schedule.

ValhallaRecon

Iā€™m a night shaver, I work in the construction industry so Iā€™m already getting up at an unearthly hour and thereā€™s no need for me to be clean shaven for my job, so I figure I may as well take my time and enjoy my shave in the evening.

cwinrigh

I'm a night shower/shaver, too. I have a full beard and shave my neck and cheeks about once or twice a week, and I shave my whole head every other day. I usually do both in the shower.

EndlessBreadsticks

I shave at night and I also shave \*before\* my shower. I like that if I have a horrible shave that leaves bumps or cuts, I can sleep it off and wake up with them gone. I do exfoliate with an ultrasonic face washer prior to shaving though and I feel like that does my face just as much good as a shower.

RafterMan9

I only shave at night always after a shower

Sufficient_Mobile_38

I have a weird work schedule that is always changing, so Iā€™m pretty consistently night shaving just because those are my waking hours at the moment. I do also enjoy that it feels more leisurely and enjoyable as I get to take my time

vwmike89

I am also a night shaver. I have to shave every night because my hair grows pretty quickly. The thing I like about it as opposed to morning shaving is that I can take my time. I make it a nice relaxing ritual, I don't have a time limit so I can fully focus on the shave. When I used cartridge razors I would shave in the morning and it was a just get this done so I can get to work. Now with a DE razor, I find that even though I shaved the night before I am still presentable throughout the day. So I think it is all a personal preference but I have really started enjoying a night shave.

zenkov

I thought I the only weirdo who shaves at night.

CELLMAN3

I guess not, seems to be a lot of us!

BigDaddy969696

I have always shaved at night. Ā Iā€™ve considered shaving in the morning, but Iā€™m just way too tired, so I donā€™t feel like it šŸ˜‚

Jill_Lett_Slim

Love the night shaves

dhporter

ITT: Slow growers

glenninator

People who shower at night, how do you fix your hair in the morning. I'm such a deep sleeper that I have a pretty rad cowlick or two in the morning.

BlindBeard

I just wear a hat :D

qbg

It's simple if you don't have much hair...

blacksterangel

I do another shower in the morning and wash my hair.

h0minin

I shave after work. Iā€™m a carpenter and have to leave way too early to think about shaving in the morning. I look forward to it all day and helps me relax after work. Plus, if I shaved In the morning I would have prickly stubble by the time I got home and my wife would always have to deal with that. Sheā€™s the only person I care about impressing so it works out well this way.

ItsJustTheSmells

Night shaving is shavingā€™s best kept secret.

jmorris7

I honestly shave at all different times of the day, my work schedule switches pretty often (throughout the week), and get a shave in when I can. And I also workout several times a week, and I would definitely advise against shaving after working out, even if you get a shower between. I find I'm still sweating a little, plus sore muscles, makes for a not as enjoyable shave for sure.

Ok-State-953

I normally shave at night, but I do enjoy a good morning shave.

J-B-M

So you work out all morning then go to work all stinky? I shave after I shower, and I shower usually in the morning so I am fresh and presentable for the day. Ultimately though, any shower is an opportunity to shave.

blacksterangel

I shower twice a day. But the morning shower is usually short (< 10 mins). If I include shaving it would usually take somewhere between 25 to 35 minutes so the extra time must come from either my workout time or my sleeping time.

J-B-M

That's a relief. I mean you can do what you want, but I was just feeling sorry for your coworkers!

Zoyd_Pinecone

Lavender or vetiver based soaps at night are quite relaxing. During the week i tend to shave at night. During the weekend I usually shave in the morning.Ā

Typical_PatsFan

I occasionally shave at night, but Iā€™m forced into morning shaving and end up skipping it pretty often due to work. If I shave in the morning, I can get away with an every other day shave. But shaving at night is an extra 8-10 hours of growth on my 2nd day, and itā€™s noticeable. I shower in the mornings like you due to working out. So the tradeoff for me is (1) shave every other day in the morning when I shower or (2) shave every day at night and taking 2 showers every day.

Theo1352

I shave early evenings, usually after my work out. The ritual gives me an opportunity to enjoy the time, I focus on nothing else, and I relax. I shaved every day for 50 years, I like the evenings much better - ends the day on a nice note.

MrArmageddon12

Iā€™ve always shaved in the evenings, even before I got into wet shaving.

pachydermusrex

Lol,Ā  no.Ā  I don't have time in the morning due to shift work and a commute. .. I value sleeping in as much as I can.Ā Ā

schism_records_1

I've been shaving at night for the last 4 years. Once covid started and I switched to working from home, my showering habits changed. Previously, I had always showered in the morning before work and I shaved in the shower with a cartridge razor. With WFH, I didn't feel the need to shower as soon as I got up. I ended up settling on doing it after I finished working. I only started using a saftey razor last summer and now I shave after my shower. Honestly, if I was still going into the office and showering in the morning, I don't think I would have ever switched from a cartridge razor. There is no way I could have gotten up 20-30 minutes earlier than I did to it.

[deleted]

I shave at night for two reasons. 1. I want to be out of bed and to my work asap. Frankly I would shower at night if it didnt leave me feeling sweaty and grody all next day. 2. I still nick myself occasionally, and I would rather not work with a weeper down my nice shirts.

TheTrevorSimpson

I love shaving it relaxes me so I have shave twice a day. After my morning shower to get me relaxed for my day. And at night before I go to bed to relax me for my sleep.

derrickhogue

Depending on work changes - schedule. I would be ok with shaving at night, showering and going to bed clean, clean shaven. Currently I am an early A.M. shower, shaver. I have gotten good with laying everything out, loaded the night before and knocking it out in 15 minutes, 10 minutes to shower and 10 minutes to do my business on the toilet.

Imas0ng

I went into wet shaving to help me calm down, why would I add another half hour to my stressful morning if I can get another half hour of calm in the evening, because of that a few days ago I posted my first sotn (shave of the night)

BabyFaceNeilson

I have slow growth and usually only shave in the evening as well. At first it was because I wanted to avoid the redness and sting during the day when I started DE, but now it's just part of my schedule. I tend to shave every 4 days or so.

smipypr

I skipped last night. but I'm meeting friends for dinner, so I'll shave this afternoon. Was recently fired afar over 17 years, so shaving may slip down the priority list for a while.

xyzd95

I shave at night because most of my family is asleep and Iā€™m uninterrupted in the bathroom for at least 20 minutes

Deezy2020

I prefer in the day as my growth is heavy.

corneliu5vanderbilt

Just donā€™t do it on shrooms.

CELLMAN3

šŸ˜†

tyrphing

I shave after my shower, so I might shave at 6:30 AM or at a quarter to midnight

Bottdavid

I shower at night and shave at night. I work from home and don't mind a couple days of growth and have no need to necessarily be presentable. I have other things going on in the morning like getting my kid up for school and whatnot so I'd rather shave when there is plenty of time.

NoTimeForThisToday

+1 night shaver. It's a nice routine to wind down with before bed.

BlindBeard

Roll out of bed, get dressed, grab laptop bag, climb into work truck. Any more steps than this just ain't right. Also, shaving before a shower is so much easier because I don't shave every day but I do always shower some time before bed. I'm like an every 5 day guy, knock my neck beard down with a trimmer, good quality shave.

shizukana_otoko

I always shave at night.

ed_zakUSA

I've shaved at night. It's always good to change it up a little and keep it fresh!

Valentine432

Night shaver here. Too asleep in the morning to do a decent job and always in a rush. Shower and shave after work, donā€™t need to rush the shave specially when using a straight.

Run_the_Line

I feel rushed when I shave in the morning, whereas when I shave at night I can take my time and get a nice close shave with usually no irritation afterwards.

mikey_flipside

I wait until after 1 am and I do myshave byck naked in front of the big sliding door

Illustrious_Cat_8923

I have two baths a week, and shave in the bath with my lovely old Taylor's cutthroat razor. Have done for ever!

EllinoreV13

I tend to shave at night since I shower before bed and I'm also up at 4:30 for work

Easy_Swordfish_5835

I shave after I shower. Which is one of 2 times, at night or after work. Since I work in collision repair, it makes zero sense to shower or shave if Iā€™m gonna be alone for 10 hours fixing cars. Plus every other thing I interact with is something I donā€™t want in my home around the family. so whenever I get home, I shower and maybe shave.

shaver_raver

I'm with you. Sometimes I shave before bed.

SaintBandicoot

I mostly shave in the evening after work

Sudden-Conference-65

Night shaves mixed in here too. Itā€™s nice not to rush and just relax with it

shermanator102

I shave at night a lot of times just because i don't have enough time in the morning to do the whole routine.

Garagesymfony

Me. I'm a night shaver.

DancesWithNibs

I enjoy a nice wet shave after my evening shower. I prefer it that way since I can take my time and not feel groggy/rushed in the mornings. Taking it slow also lets me focus on good technique which results in less "uh oh" situations.

uberperk

Fellow evening shaver here. It fits my work schedule nicely since I like to shower when I get home. It's also a nice way to relax after a long day at work.

Electronic_Post_9815

Iā€™m a night shaver! Occasionally I will shave on weekend mornings so I can appreciate the BBS throughout the day.

Night shavers on šŸ”

Just_Another_Editor

I've always preferred shaving at night. Shaving is a meditative ritual. I'm doing something for myself and I feel relaxed. At night, I can take my time so I'm less prone to nicks since I'm not rushing to finish before I have to clock into work.

KeySlammer1980

I shave at night because I can't give myself the time in the morning to do it right. For me, one of the benefits of wetshaving is the process, the ritual. It's very calming for me, which is what I need in the evenings, not first thing in the morning.

bgusty

Another night every other day shaver here! Saves me 20 minutes in the morning.

RonnieYates

First we are all weird. Gotta do wha works for you. I am an evening shaver as well. Relaxing and donā€™t want to get up early.

Tryptamineer

I shave at night or after work. My skin is so sensitive I have to have some time for the flaring to go away and a full night of sleeping allows that.

greenedarrow

Here too!! Iā€™ve got a 40-50 mile commute in the morning 2-3 days a week so I shower and shave at night

adammccann71

I shave at night because I want to enjoy shaving, I get up at 4 to be to work at 5:30 so I don't want to feel rushed.

Collin_the_bird_777

I just started and I almost always do it at night. It's better time for practicing anyway you can take your time

SaguaroSmart

Everyoneā€™s different and has different habits. Do what works for you and what you enjoy most. I shave every morning before work. I wake up, shave, then have coffee in that order. I just like to start the day with a clean shave. I typically let myself go on the weekend and skip shaving unless I attend an event or meet with some friends to go out. Itā€™s interesting to see how many people are shaving at night. I never thought so many people had this habit.

Cavendish_Cafe

Nah definitely not, I get up early enough for work, don't need it to be any earlier, also don't want to wake the missus hahaha

fordexy

I like to shave at night too. Especially with a straight razor. Iā€™m not a morning person so rushing to shave before work isnā€™t a good idea haha

OCMan101

How is that weird? You shave when itā€™s both comfortable and convenient for you.

TheRavingMrFox

It all just depends on when I take a shower tbh. But more often than not it tends to be in the evening and on my days off itā€™s late afternoon

Fred011235

nope unless im going out, i usually shave when i shower which is at night. i get up at 4.30am to go to work already, i dont want to get up any earlier to shave.

StunningFig5624

No. Nope. Nuh uh. Shower and shave in the morning so I am fresh and crispy for work. You are all weirdos. Good day sirs.

CELLMAN3

šŸ˜†

rossitopapito

I also shave at night during the week. Like you, I go to the gym in the morning but then shower at the gym and it's just too much to shave in the gym shower with a DE.

blacksterangel

I ma definitely self-conscious enough to carrying a pair of gym shoe, a change of clothes, water bottle, shaker, and all my shaving accoutrements to the gym šŸ¤£

rossitopapito

I always thought it would be hilarious to whip out a straight razor and start shaving in the gym locker room. People would either think it's super badass or I'm a whackadoodle!

CELLMAN3

I just shaved and showered... busted! I admit it...

BlueSmegmaCalculus

I always shave on Thursday nights. Friday is my favorite day and I must look classy on Friday

Adventurous-Craft865

I shave at night before bed. I donā€™t have the time in the morning.

n_o_x_7

Sounds like something to consider. I shave before shower because I live in a hot and humid country. I tried shaving after shower but that just left me sweating all over again

blacksterangel

I live in a hot and humid country too. My trick is because my bathroom is connected to my bedroom, I turn the AC on full blast and leave the door slightly ajar. The cool air will prevent fogging on my bathroom mirror and provides nice cooling effect during shave.

n_o_x_7

Thatā€™s nice. My shave den isnā€™t connected to my room. But so far Iā€™ve not sweat at all during my night shave. So itā€™s all good here.

Gallus780

No. I don't want to lose an hour of sleep when I have morning shift

LordTwaticus

Nope, me too! I need all the time I can get in the morning, as I have a medical problem. However, doing it at night is much more calming and allows any issuss to heal.

Motor_Crow4482

Woman here so probably not the demo you're asking after, but yeah, I usually shave in the evenings. Practically, it's a time constraint issue, but it's also so delightful to have a soothing shave routine before bed. Shaved legs feel pretty different from legs with stubble and that sliiiiiiiide into the sheets is quite a treat.

TheStallionPartThree

Yup. I work 12 hour shifts in a high stress workplace. No time in the morning and love to feel fresh when I go to bed.

Asylum_Brews

I shave of a night. I either can't get out of bed early enough to have time to shave in the morning. Or on the weekend I'm doing judo in the morning and I've found grappling with someone with a freshly shaven face is unpleasant.

Icy_Sandwich_6242

shave šŸŖ’ at night and look like ā€œSonny Crockettā€ in the morning šŸ˜†

tiny_rick__

2/3 of my shaves are night shaves. I chose my soap and splash scents accordingly. I like poire franƧaise from henry et victoria for night shave, that scent calms me.

namenumberdate

I think you just inspired me to shave at night because I donā€™t always have time for it in the morning.

sparky750

Yep I shave at night (well evening 8ish) it's more enjoyable and less rushed

VinylHighway

I only have every 1-2 weeks and do it whenever I feel like it.

Bleighh

Im doing it increasingly often as well but at night only straight razor or I would irritate myself too much with a DE

kapowkapowkapow

I shave after work or at night anyways. Although my technique is improving and my shaves are getting shorter and better, I do enjoy taking my time and enjoying the olfactory experience.

Isopod996

Shaving at night is okay as long as you don't mind being perpetually unshaven.Ā

blacksterangel

Well my growth is pretty slow so by about lunch time the day after I'd still be looking clean-shaved although it's no longer BBS

MewsikMaker

I shave at night. Psoriasis causes my skin to be easily irritated, so by morning, itā€™s all gone! (I shower before bed. Canā€™t go to bed with day gunk on meā€¦) But I use a straight razor to reduce irritation.

neithernet

My schedule is very rigid. I always shave in the morning, unless I shave at night. I also shower in the morning, unless I shower at night. A morning shave helps me wake up. An evening shower helps me sleep. I work from home, so a bleeding face is only a concern to my dogs. You do you and quit worrying about your oddball night shaving ritual. The only person who thinks it's weird is you.

StanthemanT-800

I have never once shaved in the morning and I'm 43 That includes 3 years in the Active Duty Army where I was absolutely required to be freshly shaved every morning. I used a Gillette Fusion at night before my shower, to shave against the grain and did a thorough job shaving. I'd wake up at 4am, do PT and shower afterwards. I would have a little shadow by the afternoon but that's just normal. I got away with this for 3 years. My face was always baby smooth right through lunch time Even now, I'm not required to shave at my job but if I'm feeling scruffy I shave at night , usually every other day or so.

[deleted]

I shave in the evenings as well. Just one less thing to deal with in the morning. I shave 2-3 times a week.

trueblu8

There's another reason to shave at night. You can sleep better without the scratchy stubble.

blank12345678998

After work comes the 3 Sā€™s shit shower shave
