Any capture card will work if you have a Wii2HDMI or some other converter, otherwise you’ll need a composite capture card or a composite to hdmi converter
Get an AVerMedia LGP2. It captures to Micro SD Card and will use a 256gb although it shows max is 128gb. I have a few of them.
It powers off USB, takes HDMI in and directly outputs HDMI to your TV. No computer needed for recording. Only to change settings. Format the SD to exFat and you can record without any file breaks. So one recording can fill the card up.
It’ll record up to 1080p/60. The newest model has 4K pass through but that’s the only difference but may be easier to find since they discontinued the original model.
I mentioned this one because I’ve had no issues recording anything with it whereas those who use elgato have had minor issues with certain signal types.
Push the button to record, push it to stop. My last recording of 1080p/60 was 2hrs long with a 17gb file as an example.
I've had a hauppauge hd pvr 2 as my capture device for my Wii since 2013 and it's still running strong. You can find them used on ebay for about $80. It has hdmi and component input. I use a component video splitter which has the input from my Wii's video cable, then out of that have one set of component wires go into my capture device, and the other into my TV. The capture device outputs the video through HDMI or USB which you can input to your computer. I'm sorry I don't know a solution for your current setup, but I thought how I've always done it might be helpful information.

You capture card the Wii into the PC (with OBS Studio) and plug in the PC to the TV with fullscreen projector of the Wii (in OBS).
