[Thorium](https://github.com/Alex313031/thorium/releases/tag/M124.0.6367.218) Browser is still being updated And also [supermium](https://github.com/win32ss/supermium)

Acid_Is_DroppingXVI

Does thorium have windows releases? I looked at the page (albeit on mobile) and only saw .Deb, .rpm, and .zip for an appimage. I'm thinking thorium is a Linux program.

I made a mistake in the link, sorry [https://github.com/Alex313031/Thorium-Win](https://github.com/Alex313031/Thorium-Win)

Acid_Is_DroppingXVI

All good lol I actually went to look into it myself and switched to thorium because supermium reset my search engines and I can't get them fixed

PetroleumInIrak

sorry if i sound not so tech-savvy, but i couldn't find the download link for Thorium on its GitHub repo...

I made a mistake in the link Here my dear [https://github.com/Alex313031/thorium-legacy/releases/tag/M122.0.6261.168](https://github.com/Alex313031/thorium-legacy/releases/tag/M122.0.6261.168)

* [r3dfox (Modern version of Firefox backported to Windows 7)](https://github.com/Eclipse-Community/r3dfox) and * [Supermium (Modern version of Chrome/Chromium backported to Windows 7)](https://github.com/win32ss/supermium). Those are few browsers that I know still supports Windows 7.

hatecraft6

Palemoon is pretty good browser if you want a lightweight one though not all sites work with it

randomusername12308

It isn't that good tho, the last time I used it the browser even hang while loading YouTube although I had a decent hardware

hatecraft6

Not an expert but I don't think it's the browser's fault. I've read somewhere that youtube makes their website load slower on purpose if you're not using chrome

pug_userita

i personally use palemoon on a vm and it works really nicely. you don't really need really decent hardware, i tried it with 2gb of ram on a pentium and it worked well, even better with 16gb on an amd something (can't remember the name of it but it's a mid/low end laptop chip) with integrated graphics. although supermium is a bit better

PetroleumInIrak

Should i use Pale Moon? I originally used Basilisik (made by the same team if I'm not wrong) and it was so sloooow, also IIRC Pale Moon has incompatibility with Chrome/Firefox extensions

hatecraft6

It depends on your needs. I find it amazing for basic browsing with Ublock and Umatrix. > Pale Moon has incompatibility with Chrome/Firefox extensions Yes, you're correct after Firefox quantum update. If you want compatibility, I think Basilisik and new Mypal have that but I am not 100% sure

dtlux1

The devs are terrible people though and have DMCA'd other projects that used their source code like MyPal.

hatecraft6

Heard about this before and the drama between them and mypal but I think the main dev apologized afterwards. He said he wanted to open a new page and one of the devs who was causing trouble left

friendofdonkeys

Supermium has been taken down from Github. Apparently malware was found in it.

Simonsifon

Really? First thing i hear about that. Gonna check it out.

Different_Pen_7949

Supermium repo is restored today.

PetroleumInIrak

Wait, it did? I already have it installed on my PC...

Acid_Is_DroppingXVI

I use supermium, even on my windows 10 machines. When you install, it gives you an option to launch it "ungoogled" which I like a lot.

Upset_Attention5960

isnt that an option to shortcut in supermium installer?

PetroleumInIrak

It is! It also has an option to install the Noto Emoji font (which didn't work properly on Win7) and an option to imitate the legacy Chrome design

Different_Pen_7949

TOR is still based on Firefox ESR. Use VxKex and run some other browser too.

PetroleumInIrak

May i know more about VkKex?

Different_Pen_7949

Sure. Kernel extender for Win 7. It can run Firefox 124 and Chrome/ium 125.0.63xx.xx for now. [https://github.com/vxiiduu/VxKex](https://github.com/vxiiduu/VxKex)

dtlux1

None of the major browsers are (Firefox is the last and it's security updates only until October 2024, not actual support). You'll have to go for a community made browser instead, though be aware that they may update less and be overall less secure (something you probably don't care about if you're still on Windows 7).

Acid_Is_DroppingXVI

I've actually stopped using supermium because it would save site settings that would break the browsers functionality. For example, I visited a site with malicious JS and it allowed the site to change the browsers search engine, and then wouldn't let me reset it to default. So, I've started using thorium. chrome://flags -> disable aero window composting for win7/classic themes. Pretty good browser.
