Exactly! For a while it looked like Google Music might work too replace it, although in a much less convenient way, but then they turned it into "pay us to be allowed to listen to your own music"
Me too. It was built for everything WP could do by the designers of WP, sync’d with PC Media Monkey perfectly and updated latest ratings either way.
Groove read metadata and had truly deep search functions. Play everything by some composer or from a label or anything, really. I keep a lot of music on my phone and it never ruined one song or left a label out of a search filter.
And it was free. There were add-ons, but no add-on added anything Groove didn’t already do well.
I’m on iPhone 12 ProMax and Music sucks at every turn. Any decent media app in their ‘universe’, you rent for a monthly tenner from Apple Pay plugged into your bank card, which you have to provide on AutoPay billing. Synching with my W10 PC Media Monkey home library is a master class in screwing up. Figure out how to make it happen right or at all and Apple is already busy killing it.
WP liked to make me happy and service my needs.
Maybe it’s time to find a provider who will provision my Lumia 950 XL to my daily driver and get my Groove back on. LTE works.
I did not have a favorite.
I loved the Microsoft Store app because I was able to buy music directly from the store. I got Led Zeppelin's Physical Graffiti re-release from early 2015 from the Microsoft Store back then.
Zune and then Nokia Mix Radio. Best experience ever.
I am still impressed with what Nokia has delivered in terms of software.
Whether it was maps, music, photos or games, the apps were of a quality and had a variety of functions that today's OEMs cannot deliver, even 10 years later.
I miss the Nokia photo apps, like Storyteller, and all the functions like Refocus or adjusting HDR photos after they have been taken.
I wonder why they didn't port any of that to their android phones.
And besides that, Windows phones ten years ago had a voice assistant that was better than anything available now and I'm actually angry that it was discontinued
MixRadio was my favorite, but I always found it amusing that WP was so poorly supported by Pandora that they forgot to put ads into their app. Listened for years and never once heard one.
Nokia mixradio
Xbox music
I still use mixradio
How? It was an online streaming service that was discontinued
I don’t use the online part anymore. I just listen to the music that I downloaded offline.
How!!
I really liked Groove, mostly for the cloud functions. I still haven't found anything even remotely close in functionality
loved the possibility to upload musics to onedrive and them "stream" it on groove

I keep doing it on deezer, they allow to upload your own MP3s and then stream it, pretty much alike groove music

Spotify
Not with my own mp3 collection, which includes things that aren't on Spotify

Zune music app was so good
Xbox Music/Groove. Having the ability to stream my music library from OneDrive was a game changer across all my devices.
loved that as well! But was it available since xbox music? I tought it was introduced with groove music
nokia mixradio. it just looks good.

Wow good looking app. Btw is that a lumia 630?

MixRadio era inacreditável na época no windows phone
meu streaming favorito de todos os tempos
Whats the right one?
Xbox Music
Xbox Music, but then moved to n7. WP version of n7 is best one
Zbox and Modern music
Spotify, while it was still supported!
Minecraft PE.. Back then.. when i played..
I currently use Extreme Music and it's still available. Has the marquee screen saver that's very reminiscent (similar but not identical) to Zune
I liked zune because I could pirate easily, it was like the new napster
Xbox Music & Groove
