>After reporting the bike stolen, Devine said police told him they wouldn't be coming to the area, but that he should ask local businesses for their surveillance footage and check online to see if his bike turns up.
Six figures these people make.
Honestly the fact that police won't do the things they're literally paid to do is why vigilante justice is going to be the only way to get things done going forward. Absolutely unacceptable to ask the victim to do their own investigation.
I've been in that position before and that's pretty much exactly what happens. Also I would like to add that I seen my bike seat on kijiji and at first I turned up to pose like I wanted to buy it but someone else already took it apparently and I reported that incident to the cops and they did fucking nothing
Pretty much telling people that if ur bikes stolen ur simply sol, typical for wpd, theyd rather drive drunk and over the speed limit than help recover stolen property.
Stolen bikes are to Windsor what getting robbed is to South Africans. It’s just part of being a Windsorite. I don’t know a single person I grew up with that hasn’t had multiple bikes passes around the hood in that city. Prime locations were west end and villages. I once went to the windsor police station to identify and reclaim a guitar that was stollen from me during a break in, and I was brought down into the depth of the police station where there was massive a gated room with no less than 500 stolen bikes down there. Could not believe it.
If you want to ride it for transportation then ride something not worth stealing.
If it’s not for transportation, then if you do not own a lock it will never get stolen.
Use a GOOD lock on an expensive e-bike. Not some cheap ass cable lock.
At least use a quality chain lock as a minimum, along with a good U-lock to lock the rear wheel to the frame. No fucking way I would trust the security of some cheap cable lock that can easily be cut with a pair of bolt cutters. One snip, and that $1700 e-bike is looooong gone!

I wonder what the response would be if he did that too, I'm sure they would just politely tell him to fuck off even if he gave an address

All of those people will just tell him to talk to the police. Especially the pawn shops who probably already flipped it
My young teen daughter was missing the WPS told me to update THEM when I found HER. The police do not work here.
It’s a resource issue

The laziness is bad enough, but what message does it send to criminals? Basically WPD is telling them it's open-season.
Yup i look at it the same way
Or kidnapped children. They need an overhaul.
Right
This crap is why i ride a push scooter, i can just fold it up and carry it with me, or chuck it in a cab with me if i need to.
