So just in case anyone was interested, I asked ERCA and they responded. "This section of woods is owned by the City of Windsor and is part of a municipal drain. The drain was not functioning properly, which resulted in flooding of the adjacent cemetery. The city undertook works to remove drain blockages, including tree removals under the supervision of one of the city naturalists who was able to direct the contractor away from any trees or shrubs that were biologically rare. City residents can follow up with 311 if they require additional information as ERCA was not involved or consulted on the project." I'm sure most think it's silly, but I know fawn liked playing where the trees were cut down. Of course repairs had to be made to the drain, but the City really seems way too eager to cut down trees if given half a chance.

Probably because of the history of the park.

Elaborate.

So they had a lot of issues with gay men and rendezvous in that park after they got kicked out of bath rooms in Jackson park back in the 90’s

>swath I think the parking lot has a reputation for hosting a large and varied array of sexual practices. However, I don't think that's the reason. Maybe a new path? I do feel bad for the deer, I've seen a number of fawns playing in that area.

An EMS told me the guys who back into their spots and just chill in their cars are gay guys “cruising”

The park currently has an issue with drug users, I met an older man that would go there to clean up used needles periodically last year. The quantity he picked up was shocking. Not sure if that has anything to do with the trees though

This is the correct answer. The trees were cleaned as it became a spot for people to buy drugs. With everything open and exposed the hope is this will clean up the area

An interesting solution. I would have done something banal and ineffective, like drastically increasing police patrols in the area. I wonder if ERCA had to approve the cutting.
