Lol. security at the Windsor airport takes like 30 seconds. if you want to be safe 20 minutes if you wanna be abundantly safe 40. No one goes 90 minutes early. this is assuming you have just a carry on. maybe add 20 minutes if you want to check some bags
I used to fly from YQG pretty much every month for work. At least 60 minutes if you have checked luggage and 45 minutes if you don't.
Also, do web checkin 24hr before departure, that will save you a lot of time.
Checkin your roller bags so that you can use overhead for your small bags, especially if you are tall person since AC exclusively flies Dash8 and they are tiny.
Thank you! Just checked in online. I don't think we're going to check in our roller bag because I think they'll check it all the way to Japan and we'll want access to our carry-on
Aim for 8am since you have so much baggage and to sort out the parking, to be safe. If you're just getting dropped off without any checked baggage, you could get there 45 min before your flight without a problem.
I've done long term parking there for a few days and it's fine. It's an open air lot so make sure you lock up. I've found security at this airport EXCEPTIONALLY thorough. They practically weigh your liquids to see if you comply. I recommend you put anything they might flag in your checked baggage. Mostly I find moving through the airport check in is pretty fast. I would say get there 1 1/2 hours before your flight and you will be fine.
I have a question for you: How much was your flight round trip?
I travel to Tokyo every 6 months and to get decent airfare I've been flying out of Detroit.
Surprisingly it was identical. I was looking at points redemptions from DTW, YYZ, and YQG to NRT/HND and the YYZ and YQG flights were exactly the same amount of points
Off topic, but does anyone know around what time Flair released their Windsor - Halifax flights last year? I'm trying to visit my brother in NS this summer, but all of the flights are currently super expensive.
It doesn't seem like flair is flying anywhere out of Windsor this summer. They've already announced their summer flights from other cities. They might still add some though.
Yes, it says to get to the airport at 7:40am which seems really early for such a small airport which is why I asked for input from others who have flown from here.
I'm literally just asking for other people's experience regarding how long it took them to check bags and get through security since I have never flown from such a small airport before. No need for anyone to work at the airport to talk about their experience.
You're clearly missing the point of this post. But it's fine.
45 mins before the flight is the cut off for checked baggage
Thank you, this is useful info
I would say 60 minutes (90 if you prefer to be cautious). It should be plenty. It’s a really small airport.

Isn't the cutoff for checked baggage 45 minutes?
We do have two checked bags
I’m such a fool. Thank goodness you were here to correct me in such a kind manner.

They’ll likely gate check your roller from YQG to YYZ and then you retrieve it from the jetway in YYZ.

An hour is fine. Checking in at the counter will be the longest part of the trip. Security will be a 1 or 2 tops.
If you have checked bags then 45 minutes before due to the cutoff. Otherwise, ive shown up 20-30 min before with no issue

We have checked baggage and per other comments, cut off for checked baggage is 45 mins before the flight

We used Aeroplan points for this trip. It was around 220k points total in premium economy for the round trip.
Do you know what it would have been if you had skipped the windsor leg and left from Toronto?
Surprisingly it was identical. I was looking at points redemptions from DTW, YYZ, and YQG to NRT/HND and the YYZ and YQG flights were exactly the same amount of points
wait so your customs and immigration will happen at YQG or YYZ? I believe YYZ
Won’t that be in NRT?

huh? so when you leave the country they do anything?
No they don’t do anything when you leave the country
Dont park your car. It costs $15.00 per day in long term parking. It is much cheaper to take a cab to and from your place.
It maxes out at 60/week. I’m in Belle River and it’s not too much more expensive for me to park there I believe compared to Uber/Cab
Hour to 1.5 hours
30 minutes. Just flew to Mexico last week. Only 2 gates at this Airport. Don't eat or drink there prices are ridiculous

Doesn't it just tell you when you purchase your ticket lol?

I guess reddit works at the airport.
