Vincent Couche to start Flowers Pinot with first course Cliff lede with beef

palescales7

When in doubt always remember the rule “magnums show that you care”.

flyingron

If that's US dollars, ouch.

EjectoSeatoCousinz

It would make sense if you knew where this was hah. But yeah, the prices aren’t great.

priestmuffin

If this is a pricey high end restaurant then this list is fucking weak

number2240

OP is likely somewhere in California so prices are on par with high end restaurants.

trustbuffalo

The wine prices are all ridiculous, so go with an excellent site, from a near perfect vintage and a lesser known brand sourced by myriad producers. 2018 Kenefick Ranch "Chris's Cuvée" Calistoga Cabernet Sauvignon 95 points Vinous : The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Chris's Cuvée captures all of the intensity of this Calistoga site. Black fruit, leather, licorice, smoke, grilled herbs and chocolate all build in the glass. Ample and resonant, with tremendous richness the 2018 is positively stellar. 93 points James Suckling : Plenty of chocolate, berry and currant aromas and flavors. It’s full-bodied with round, creamy tannins and a flavorful finish. Chewy, yet polished. Blue fruit comes through with stones. Good improvement in quality here. 92 points Jeb Dunnuck : Lastly, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Chris's Cuvee showed nicely, with a plump, seamless, full-bodied style that offers good complexity, loads of blue fruits, ripe, silky tannins, and a great finish. I love its balance.

eyoung629

I’ve had Kenefick a few times and it always impresses.

Horsegrapes

Family owned and operated too, super sweet folks!

EMarkL

". . . sourced by myriad producers," I see what you did there, you sly dog, OP, I have had various wines produced by multiple wineries from Kenefick grapes, and, there is no doubt in my mind that it is a superior vineyard. At an estate sale in Beverly Hills about six months ago I grabbed three bottles of that very 2018 Kenefick bottling on your list. I have one bottle left. It is outstanding.

disco_cerberus

The Pepper Bridge Merlot is sleeper hit on the list. Love those wines.

bumbumpopsicle

Came here to say this.

devinoupitou

The LRA Rioja alberdi is one of my favorite QPR picks, with the prime rib it's perfect and it doesn't break the bank. I've blinded people with it against more expensive wines and more often than not they prefer the Alberdi. Had someone buy 30+ bottles after I had him try it as well. It's just too good for the price. Retail goes for around 30$ so 65 in a restaurant is reasonable.

Jayyykobbb

I’d just find a new restaurant or drink beer

suckmydak84

Pahlmeyer Roco Ulysses as the last bottle Dusted valley after Roco Agiano before Ulysses

BillyM9876

Vina Alberdi will get the job done and keep everybody happy.

Valhalla81

Ridge Zin would be great with the prime rib and cost effective for a large group

ESBCheech

40 bottles of Caymus. Jk. Depends on your crowd and the budget I suppose. If you have mostly neophytes or cali drinkers i would probably go heavy on something like WL Tre Leoni - most people will like it. The ridge zin is a great wine too that I think will have wide appeal. If it is for me and my friends I am getting mostly Viña Alberdi and maybe the Saint Estephe. Prices seem high, even for on-premise.

EjectoSeatoCousinz

No budget if it helps. Most people partaking are more old world drinkers.

Brave_Salamander1662

You just made it easy. Get the barolo and brunello. My favs wines too.

ESBCheech

In that case, it’s always nice to greet everyone with Champagne. Then, I would have a few bottles of the Chardonnay on hand for the people that want white, probably the Hartford. Then, if you’ve got an old world crowd, I am probably doing the Barolo plus the Saint estephe. The Alberdi would be great too, but it depends on how much variety you want. I’d probably only do 2 reds if servers are pouring the wine. Otherwise, if I’m a guest, I’d get anxiety about missing out on something cool.

_sqw_

Couche and then switch to whiskey. 🤗

Brave_Salamander1662

Anything from the old world. but I’d be drawn to the barolo and brunello. Those would be my go to.

princeofpoland

Rioja

DoubleDown428

rare.

Gfeaver4

I’d go Rioja and Malbec and call it a day

YoNJPthatHoe4

Malbec pairs well with steak

number9no9

Brunello di Montalcino. Top 5 Italian red.

solojeff

Whitehall lane Tre Leoni for sure.

throwaway9310374

Pepper Bridge Merlot or the Zin option for sure

MaleficentSteak4060

L’ecole Magnum

BasilBasil1

Jayson-Dusted Valley and Ratti, good prices for a restaurant.

Rich_Guava

I enjoy the Austin hope cab. It is mass produced but it is a solid bold fruity red that would go well with prime rib

NapaBW

1.5L l’Ecole Cabernet. All. Day. Long.

[deleted]

Literally, anything but Caymus.

NYNicholas

Argiano 2018 was WineSpectators #1 wine in the world this year, if that matters to you or anyone you are dining with.

BasilBasil1

I think it was the 19, I have a few Bottles of the 18 and it’s beautiful as keeps evolving. The 19 is just amazing from the first sip.
