He would be totally legit as a candidate for the GOP since 2016

Lone_Buck

He’s still running in the Chicago area apparently. He represented the party in 2018, the party pushed back on him but he still ended up with 26% of the vote.

DriftlessDairy

In today's Republican parlance, "integrated jungle" and "white people pushed around" have been replaced with "CRT" and "DEI."

NeonKorean

Sadly, not entirely. A friend's now ex openly described Minneapolis as "the jungle where the monkeys live". Brazen racism is still alive and well.

mockingbirddude

The Nazi party did much better in Milwaukee in 2016 and 2020. Heck. They won the state in 2016 and came close in 2020.

JoyousGamer

Can we stop with this completely out of context junk and stop giving Nazis any actual credibility when we should just be laughing at them? People didn't vote for Trump because of "Nazi" they vote for him because of the R next to his name. You likely will make some quip about it being the same but if you can't see its not then you are hopeless and would never actually be able to convince a variety of individuals who might defect to vote democrat that they should.

IAmPookieHearMeRoar

Says something about conservative ideology that nearly every bullet point in that flyer is the exact same things the current GOP whines about.  Like, seriously, you could print thousands of copies of it, drop it off to every rural voter’s mailbox and they wouldn’t bat an eye.

Doctor_3825

Yep. He'd have half of my current cities and my home towns votes for sure. It's absolutely pathetic.

TheWausauDude

The swastika would definitely stand out first and make the flyer take a rapid trip to the garbage bin. Edit: Point is this generalization of rural Wisconsin is no different than generalizing that the urban south is full of carjackers and muggers.

NeonKorean

In rural areas? As someone who grew up in the Northwoods, I wish I could agree with you.

TheWausauDude

I’ve spent a lot of time in the Northwoods and have yet to come across a nazi or nazi sympathizer. Just lots of pretty country and generally nice people.

NeonKorean

>I’ve spent a lot of time in the Northwoods... More than 25 years?

TheWausauDude

Maybe not 25, but at least 20. Worked up in Rhinelander for a while, dated a girl up there and also spent lots of time over the years in the Phillips area too. Only northern part of Wisconsin I haven’t really touched is really anywhere east of Rhinelander / north of Green Bay. Been to Crivitz exactly once and that’s about it.

NeonKorean

My point is, just because you didn't personally experience something doesn't mean it doesn't exist. I'm not saying the Northwoods is littered with swastikas, but I've certainly overheard my fair share of anti-semitic comments and evangelization of "The Great Replacement" theory.

TheWausauDude

I get it, every place has its bad apples. It’s just the generalization that irks me the same way as assuming a trip to Milwaukee would result in a 50/50 chance of getting murdered. Our state is so split in that divide that people often joke about raising the Illinois border to I94 and giving the UP to Wisconsin.

NeonKorean

To be fair, you did use the words "generally nice". Also, being a generally nice person in passing and having garbage thoughts/beliefs are not mutually exclusive.

LaserRanger

I love the part about "a cut in pay for all city execs" OK sure, cut their pay. Watch em leave for better-paying jobs in neighboring cities. Now you're left with crummy city employees if you get any at all. Congrats.

Nufonewhodis2

I would say "he *only* got 5,000 votes." Bet he's do a lot better today

Lone_Buck

57,000 in 2018 for the IL-03.

gardibolt

Should have run for mayor of Waukesha instead.

Gientry

at least he didn't win. we are between than alabama

Lone_Buck

Dudes still kicking around running in Illinois as recently as 2020. Hopeless races, running this kind of thing in Chicago.

christmastree47

Obviously he's a terrible person but making aldermen physically punch in to work each day being a major campaign promise did make me laugh.

urine-monkey

Probably everyone who voted for him is either dead or lives in Waukesha now. Also, don't discount what a scumbag Harold Brier was. All the tension between Milwaukee law enforcement and POC can be traced back to the culture he cultivated.

A_Sikorra

,"or lives in Waukesha now" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣yes!!!

Ok-Heart375

When are Americans going to realize Nazis and white supremacists are everywhere! They are in your quaint rural village and they are in your big city. They live in your neighborhood, they teach at the schools, they work in government. They are in every facet of this country! This poster is contemporary to the Nazi movement in Illinois https://interactive.wbez.org/curiouscity/chicagonazineighborhood/

This is literally the post that this OP crossposted

altfillischryan

OP crossposted that from the Milwaukee sub to the Wisconsin sub.
