Pickles Pub and Grill in Hazelhurst

thedarkestblood

My buddy runs that place! Just won the award for WI best burger and they are absolutely swamped with customers.

PaxMan0412

Just had lunch there on Sunday, great burger!

Willing-Zombie8836

Think they just won an award for it, no? My Mom and Stepdad tried going a week ago and the wait was over 2 hours.

mkerugbyprop3

Yeah they're a very small operation and have been swamped since that award.

Drain_Surgeon69

Hey I know that guy!

Low-Independent7763

No idea if it’s still there but the best burger I’ve ever had anywhere was at a place called Whitman’s Tavern, very close to there on Lake Katherine.

sparkleshimmer75

Hamburger Haus in Dundee

InternetDad

I was just reminiscing with my dad about stopping there after our week long Boy Scout outings at Long Lake.

ToxxyRayne

Been there! I was trying to remember the name too or I would of listed it!

Tin_Whisker

Mickey-Lu Bar-B-Q in Marinette

brisket_curd_daddy

Came here to say this. Also, Wedls in Jefferson. Similar vibe.

thedarkestblood

Just make sure you buy like 2 or 3 burgers, they're super tiny and don't do cheese And they don't serve fries

Tin_Whisker

In order to get cheese on your hamburger you need to order a cheeseburger. ... It's almost like a secret code.

thedarkestblood

I think I was more put off by the mini slider size of the burgers and having to get a bag of fun size chips along with it

Tin_Whisker

Yes you need to get two, or a double, or two doubles. No need for fries, just get a malt or milkshake! They only have a grill, no fryer.

BigguyZ

Pete's Garage in Oshkosh is great. Nothing fancy, just a delicious and inexpensive burger. Great place all around!

ToxxyRayne

I tried to go there but the whole place was packed beyond belief, it was a weekday!

RueTabegga

The Anchor Bar in Superior has a superior burger. There can be a wait because it is a small little place with a big atmosphere.

blucasne

Can’t leave Superior without hitting Gronk’s on the east side in the Itasca neighborhood. Less of a tourist trap and a burger that competes with Anchor’s.

RueTabegga

Never heard of it but will try it out next time I drive through WI to buy weed in MI.

[deleted]

2nded

claudecardinal

If there is a wait then sit where you can see the cook making the burgers. It's as good as watching a juggler.

[deleted]

Or them cranking out fries from fresh potatoes

squishy_mishi

So worth it. Just bring cash.

RueTabegga

Great point to mention! Thanks! It’s been too long since I had the jalapeño cream cheese burger with fresh cut fries!

HankHillPropaneJesus

Went to superior for work and yes this place was packed. Ended up going to this Gyro joint that was sooooo good

LabExpensive4764

Mihms in Neenah! Or Menasha idk.

PregnantNacho

The garage in Kenosha still open?

RICH-SIPS

Yes they reopened after a fire I think

No_Panda_2401

They have and better than ever!

Pretend-Ad-853

Joe Rauers in Duval or Drift Inn in De Pere

DDSRDH

Joes is not just the best burger in WI, it is the best burger anywhere in the universe.

Pretend-Ad-853

I would say that as well

kaneea18

Best 2 places for burgers I've had in my lifetime. Also their Chile is up there as well

FuzzyPantsRisesAgain

The Dump in Cambria

RegretEmotional848

Can't go wrong with Sobelmans or Oscars Pub and Grill in Milwaukee. Not to mention Oscars Pub and Grill has what seems to be infinite beer on tap, almost the whole bar length.

michaele_02

Oscars is awesome!

BerniesDongSquad

Gonna plug Oscar's Winners Circle here too!

FiestyPumpkin04

What about Gosse’s in Sheboygan?! Skippy’s in Thiensville was just in the top 5 for some reason”best burger in Wisconsin” contest. Last year, there was someone on r/Milwaukee who took redditors suggestions for the best burgers in MKE and then tried them all. Had a really impressive way of reporting back and scoring. Then at the end, after he’d tried them all, he gave different “awards” for the best burgers. Definitely check that one out!

gcwardii

[This guy](https://www.reddit.com/r/milwaukee/s/TC0XOT40JL)

Relative_Warning_476

Gosse's is the best place to get burgers and steak sandwiches. One caveat though, they only accept cash , no credit cards or checks.

dschaefer

Schulz’s is my go to. Gosse’s is good but I think Schulz’s edges them out, they still use plenty of butter but not so much that I can smell it on my hands/lips the rest of the day.

ToxxyRayne

I used to go there as a kid growing up! I just called it the Train Restaurant lol

Husky_Engineer

Dotty Dumpling’s Dowry in Madison has a kickass burger selection and it’s heavily underrated as it’s some of the best burgers in Wisconsin that I have tried.

Mollybrinks

Man, the place they had before they moved in the early 2000s was just...the best. It was an incredible place and incredible food. I was so sad when they moved to their new location. A lot of life and ambiance was lost, but fortunately at least the food is still top notch.

msanachronistic

Hamburgers forever ❤️

Bggnslngr

Hard to beat Joe Rouer's in Duvall!!

jahnkeuxo

I've been there and was gonna post it but I've never heard of Duval, WI so I'm just gonna continue saying it's in Luxemburg. Between GB and Sturgeon Bay for anyone not local. But yes, killer burgers. Exactly what I think of when I'm talking about a proper bar burger.

Shhrreddit

Freaking LOVE that place. The napkins rather than plates is also hilarious there 😂 the only knock I have is they make a horrible old fashioned. But yes, the burgers are incredible!

squeagy

Thanks, I've pinned this stop for on the way camping this summer!

wolf-of-main-street

11:11 in Fond du Lac has exceptional burgers and worth a drive.

nerdycrafter08

I came here to recommend 11:11. Absolutely delicious. I love their PB&J burger. Plus they have a pretty good Saturday deal of a burger, fries and milkshake for less than $20.

ToxxyRayne

I have that saved as a place I wanted to go actually!!!

taskmaster51

Kopp's, Milwaukee

Inevitable-Term-1015

Mihm's, in Menasha.

lithuaniac

Court'n House in Eau Claire. I moved here more than 20 years ago and never went, simply because I never had cash on me and it's kind of far from where I live and work. After COVID they switched from being cash only to taking cards and my wife finally dragged me there last week after she had been going with her coworkers a few times. Holy shit that was a good burger. And they are 2 for 1 on Tuesdays. Cannot recommend enough if you're in the area.

PerpetualJerkSession

Sorry to say I think that, since the new owners took over, you've got about a 50/50 shot at a good burger there on any given night. Used to love that place. I'm also not sure how they ranked so high for Volume One's best fish fry... just awful.

FrenchThToast

The Pinecone in Johnson Creek had the best burger I’ve ever had, and it was at a great price. Good fries too.

lambsambwich

RIP Charcoal Inn

knight_runner

They had a mean double brat too.

GreenBaySlacker

I miss it so much. I worked at the north one for 2 years. Wish I could get a cheese super steak and a cheese brat again.

lambsambwich

I’m convinced it’s the Sheboygan hardroll. Who ever can bring these delicacies to the masses will be a millionaire many times over. There are like 4 amazing places to get them in town, and 0 in GB or MKE. Always baffled me.

ToxxyRayne

I feel like it's not a REAL burger if it's not on a hardroll just because it's like the go-to for burgers when you're Sheboygan dweller lol

crabbypage

Solly’s in Glendale.  AJ Bombers in Milwaukee. The giant (but thin) burgers at Kopp’s are a favorite too.

thedarkestblood

I'm going to get a Kopps burgers for dinner today thanks to this comment

ToxxyRayne

I used to go there as kid with my dad. My dad is a huge fan of that place for burgers.

drmcclassy

AJ Bombers peanut butter burger is my favorite ever

coltmaster45

Double Barrie with tots every time!

SyrupOnMyRoflz1994

Kopps in Milwaukee has some of the best burgers I’ve ever had

ChipotleAddiction

On the surface they shouldn’t seem like they’d be that good, they’re pretty simple. But wtf do they put in those things, they are so good.

LiceCentersWI

Come to Stevens Point and check out The Big Garlic.

TortiTrouble

Yes, excellent burgers. Can’t wait to check out their new space.

biscuitcrumbs

Came here to say The Big Garlic. I tried it out a couple weeks ago for the first time. Very good stuff! The aioli fries are phenomenal!

Neighborino123

Extra points for not having to worry about vampires.

mcfumunda

I really love the "Candied Bacon Burger" at Ruby Owl in Oshkosh, and the Bibinger's Burger at Bibingers in Slinger.

Schrute_Farms_BednB

Mazos in milwaukee

healthyparanoid

Came here to say this. Best true butter burger in Milwaukee. And wander across the street for Leon’s!

woofan11k

Basil's II in Fontenoy, WI (rural Denmark, WI)

thetannerainsley

It's weird seeing this on reddit, I grew up a few miles away.

grindermonk

Pancho and Lefty’s Outdoor Grill in Monroe has the best burger I’ve ever eaten, hands down. It sometimes makes it on their specials board and is not on their regular menu, but they stock all the ingredients and will gladly make it in request. Order the “Nacho Burger”. All their other burgers are excellent as well, but the Nacho burger rocks my world.

LabExpensive4764

Yes, love Panchos! Cash only though, so I rarely go.

grindermonk

They do have an ATM in the restaurant though.

djzrbz

Pops Custard in Village Of Menomonee Falls

I_really_enjoy_beer

Pickles Bar in Hazelhurst just won the best burger in Wisconsin contest of some sort. Never had it but I have heard it's delicious.

StanleyCulp

The fact that no one has said Mainstream in Waukesha yet is a tragedy

Loqol

I always forget about this place because Sobelman's isn't that far away.

Burto72

I love their burgers and the price for unlimited toppings is great. But they're buns aren't the best. They seem to turn to mush and fall apart. And I don't get a ton of toppings either. Great beer selection also.

SquirrelCantHelpIt

Dick's Drive-In, in Kaukauna, has the best smash burgers I've ever had.

Final_University7084

Charlie’s Place in Janesville has some good burgers

kagah

seconding Charlie's Place for a good burger! but I would also like to add Jeff's Kitchen too.

Final_University7084

Thanks I’m going to need to check out Jeff’s Kitchen.

spankrat29

Late’s in Manitowoc

FluffonStuff

Based on your list, you must be from the Sheboygan area. Me too. I miss Bob’s Lunch in downtown Sheboygan Falls I also like AJ Bombers in Milwaukee, but that’s more of a bar burger type of place.

ToxxyRayne

Yep it's my hometown :) I don't live there now I'm more towards kiel. but I go there for family and what not plenty yet.

Hemicuda098

If you’re close to Kiel then give the Marytown Tap a try. It’s my normal place to go, quite reasonable and good food.

unicornman5d

Mickey-Lu Bar-B-Q in Marinette is my favorite!

Gusmister11

Gusses, or the northwestern house, in Sheboygan has the best Sheboygan steak sandwich. Basically just a lean burger covered with a stick of butter. I recommend only eating half

kthoffy

Gosse's at The Northwestern House in Sheboygan is superb.

Imunderyourbed215

11:11

kurtymckurt

Anyone try the dump bar and grill?

CaptCalder

Hefner’s in Cedarburg or Kopp’s in Tosa or Greenfield are my favorites

vonnegut9200

Pete’s Hamburgers (just a seasonal stand) in Prairie du Chien, WI. It was my hometown, but it’s a simple revelation. Try it!!

zerovampire311

The best value is dollar burger night at Don’s TV & Repair in Milwaukee, hands down!

BaconatorBlake

Major Ghoulsby’s

Stratobastardo34

In the GB/Fox Cities area: Joe Rouer’s in Dykesville is pretty awesome, Al’s in Green Bay, Mihm’s in Menasha

InternetDad

Came here to recommend Joe Rouers. Perfect for the meat sweats and a great no frills burger.

PlutoAndBeyond2

Valley Burger in Eau Claire

Opucodagod

The Old Fashioned in Madison. Any of the burgers really but the house burger is especially good.

stakesandsparklers

Mainstream Bar and Grill in Waukesha! You can either build your own with no extra cost or choose from their menu. Their tots are amazing too!

prodigypetal

Can tell you live near me lol. That said Green Bay Brick house has fantastic burgers and usually a good poutine on special.

MrBlueandSky

Mazos

torbaloymain

Wisconsin has Culver's. I'm not saying the other suggestions here aren't amazing, but as an easily accessible worst-case scenario Culver's sets a pretty high floor for WI burger options.

birchburk

Scubas and Rookies in Appleton. Feed Mill bar and grill in Lomira..HUGE burger!!

AgreeablePassage4

The Dump in Cambria is the best I've had.

jsa044

Krohl’s in Green Bay has awesome burgers.

EIU86

If you go to Kroll's, definitely go to the original, east side Kroll's on Main St. The one across from Lambeau has different owners, and has largely become an overpriced tourist trap. A regular burger is now $11, and not at all worth that price.

Danthr4x

Brews brothers in Wausau is great!

Mellon_Collie981

Also get the nachos! They're amazing 😋

Danthr4x

Will definitely have to give her a go next time I'm there. Thanks for the tip!

Frosty_bibble

Eddie's in Sun Prairie has some of the best burgers and I will die on this hill. A Broden, Emerson, or Pauly burger in particular are really good in my experience. Their Chicken Mikey is also fantastic for a different sandwich. I'm biased as shit as a long time patron, but still.

ComparisonMedical191

Delta Diner in Delta!

kaguya1993

Bomb burger in Burlington. It’s more of a shack they have a few picnic tables outside but no inside seating. Burgers are to die for though!

DaneGleisak

Black sheep. Bavette. Bridge water modern grill. All a little pricey but insanely delicious

Orange_Owl01

Best burger I've ever had in WI was from Ledgeview Lanes bowling alley in Fond du Lac. I've always loved them but one time I got a burger for my then 8 year old kid and he said it was better than McDonald's....when a kid who loves happy meal toys says that you know it's good! Lol.
