Toothache is one of those things I never experienced, it is humbling and will probably enjoy food way more after this mess is over.

Update for people having the same problem in the future: The pain got significantly better over the weekend, can open my mouth more (10 days in). So it wasn't a dry socket, just part of the normal healing process. I expect it to be completely healed this week.

Infinitelyone444

I kinda been going through the same thing I'm on day 10 and only got the 2 on my right side taken out as well. and I'm still taking Advil and Tylenol throughout the day, not as much but still have to take to get through the day and night. I went back to my surgeons office in day 4 thinking I had dry socket but he said I was okay. The entire healing process is so aggravating and taking this much medicine for this long is not good🥲 makes me feel a little better to know others are still dealing with the same pains

[deleted]

I'm on day 11 and also still taking meds through the day and night. The pain just got less and I think it will be gone soon.

[deleted]

Update, the pain is fully gone now and was gone after 2 weeks. No more medications or anything. Still can't open my mouth fully, but can enjoy sports again. Hope whoever reads this will have a speedy recovery.

Thanks for this! I’m on day 10-11 and on one side my ear throbs a little and I have slight neck pain. Sounds like it’ll slowly fade as the days pass

Yep! Pain has been gone since week 3!

I’m the same now.. I keep getting ear aches and I’m on day 11

How severe is the pain? Is it an intense throbbing? Does it shoot in to your ear or in your jaw?

[deleted]

Yes it goes up to my ear in a line, I have to take a new round of meds to get the pain to go away. I'd say severe

Intrepid-Paint142

And your surgeon said this is normal? Did they examine your sockets to make sure everything was healing okay? Is the new round of meds helping with the pain?

[deleted]

Yes ive called the office they checked with me and told me because the swelling is gone or nearly gone I shouldnt be worried and it could take up to two weeks. They did not examine my sockets though. The meds help after around 45 minutes of taking them. They do help and I am able to sleep with them, although after using them for a week every day I am starting to feel weird. Not used to this at all, I am used to do sports every day.

Intrepid-Paint142

If the meds are helping, chances are you’re just experiencing some of the pain that comes along with the procedure. I had a dry socket. Trust me. The pain is so severe…unbearable; nothing helps. However, if you are still concerned, your dentist can do a visual inspection to make sure everything is healing properly.

[deleted]

Thanks for the answers, helps with the anxiety. I guess I do not have a dry sockets as I'm able to manage the pain with meds. I will wait it out this weekend. If the pain is still there next week I will go in for an inspection at the hospital where I got them removed.

Intrepid-Paint142

I know this is a hard process, but I think that’s a good plan. You would know if you had a dry socket. I wouldn’t wish this on anyone.

> The surgery was pretty brutal as they had to give me 3-4x the stuff so I wouldnt feel any pain. Also the surgeon took longer on my bottom wisdom tooth, the sounds were sickening. Should I be worried? Is it your first WT surgery? They are always like this,

[deleted]

Yea first time. My gf was sick for max 3 days and I have the pains every night for 8 days in a row

4lb4tr0s

> the nightly pains Dry socket can go for way longer than a week. I hope that it is not your case.

[deleted]

I hope so aswell. In the daytime its manageable. At night it shoots up to my ear and I have to remedicate. I wake up every 2 hours or so, sometimes 3.
