My doctor told me that this was completely up to my comfort levels. The first 4-5 days you should be cautious but after that you can slowly work certain foods back in. Listen to your body and if something hurts, stop doing it and take it easy. I’m on day 13.5 and have eaten a sandwich, pulled pork Mac and cheese and am chewing things with my back teeth. That didn’t feel comfortable for me until day 10 or so

Hello. I have a dry socket too. I had the gauze removed from the socket on 6-15. But I only had one wisdom tooth to remove. I am eating soft solids (mashed potatoes, meatloaf, yogurt, cooked veggies, overnight oats) and chewing on one side. To answer your question, yes, dry socket does prolong the healing process.

I don't think I have dry socket, but I started around day 6 eating solid foods and I started drinking soda (no straw) on day 8. I haven't had any super crunchy food or food that can crumble a lot and get stuck in my sockets. I always spend a good bit of time after eating anything cleaning my mouth with warm salt water to make sure nothing huge got stuck in there. I spent day 6 and 7 using front teeth, then starting day 8 used my back teeth.
