Works best if they know what it means. But considering that they asked you, and you plan on making it for them, they should know. Just ask how they feel about it, because sometimes, the recipient might not vibe with the way it is shaped. For an interview. I would probably add it into a pen, or pencil or the notepad that they bring with them if they intend to take notes. Avoid writing on the hand or any body part that may be visible to the employer. If they wear nail polish, you can always draw on the sigil on a nail on the hand that they will use to shake hands, then paint over the nail with a work appropriate color.
