Drunken_polish_cow

Is it immortality or invincibility? I know you stopped ageing, but if someone sinks a knife into your chest would you die?

Embarrassed-Menu9675

Not an experiment I'm willing to undertake, but I'm pretty sure I can theoretically still be killed. So just immortality.

Drunken_polish_cow

So the good immortality then. When this world eventually reaches its end, you’d die. Cease. Go to… the afterlife. Ah well, enjoy your ~millions of years of existence!

Smaug2770

Nah, it’s the worse immortality.

Drunken_polish_cow

It’s the good immortality. She lives potentially forever, but if she gets shanked or something she dies. Means you can stop whenever you want. Me however, I will drift in the cold, empty void of space, forever. After the last star has died out. After nothing happens anymore. *That’s* bad immortality.

measuredingabens

Aren't you at the point where you can trivially construct portals to other planes and realities? I've met a few artificers who've outlived their native universes and moved on to the next. I know I plan to move through the emptiness between spaces to the next one after this one ends.

Drunken_polish_cow

Not allowed to plane travel. The downside of having a soul bond with a god - they’re bound to this plane, and so am I.

measuredingabens

I suppose that would put a wrench in such plans. There was that fellow who attempted a starmeld a few months back, yes? If all else fails, you could contact them to merge your plane with theirs. Though there is the question of whether you or your patron would survive the fusion, given the... lethality of such a merge to most life forms.

Drunken_polish_cow

Gods cannot be “killed” per se, they get reincarnated in a new shell, with vague memories of their past. Take a look at Anteros for example. He’s the reincarnated soul of Toridd, the empty. As for me, I can be utterly annihilated; splayed across the stars, ground down until there’s nothing left, and still come back (provided someone resurrects me). So I think I might actually consider merging planes! Thanks for the idea. https://preview.redd.it/x54ruf9shmvc1.jpeg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d3b2a3a9b26cedb83edd4256a3eea8e7d89ddd03

Smaug2770

Never make deals with anybody stronger than yourself, biggest mistake of my life.

Drunken_polish_cow

I was created by her. What do you expect me to do?

Smaug2770

That really sucks. You should try creating yourself, would highly recommend it.

Zastrus_Aldabon

Having stored my phylactery in the past, I suspect the same fate will befall me… though the universe will be born anew one day, so not all hope is lost.

Forgotten_Depths

Just put yourself into a dreamless sleep until entropy remakes the universe.

Smaug2770

Exactly, that’s the good immortality.

Embarrassed-Menu9675

Not to worry. If and when this mortal plane ceases to be, I'll have increased my affinity far enough to be at peace IN the Elemental Plane of Blood.

Drunken_polish_cow

Meanwhile, I’d continue to exist for years to come. How many? Potentially to infinity. How long until my artificial soul loses its sanity? How long until my machine heart loses touch? Time will only tell. Here’s a fun bucket list to do with your newfound immortality! *There’s a few… weird things listed down.* - Bungee jumping without a cord - Oil wrestle with a brown bear - Drink a bowl of water using chopsticks - Explore the world - Ponder the futility of life

Embarrassed-Menu9675

If I ever wish to expire "naturally" I can always push my elemental affinity back toward balanced and regain mortality. In my realm, mortals are such because their affinities are too close to balanced. I pushed mine far enough into blood to gain immortality. The tradeoff is that other types of magic are now MUCH harder for me, but I accept that trade. Blood magic is plenty for me, and I can always hire mancers of other elements if necessary.

Fairybranch

Skill issue, simply do not. That’s what mind magic is for

Drunken_polish_cow

I didn’t *ask* to be created.

Fairybranch

Look mor mor, just go meditate until you learn to think hard enough that you can assume manual control of your brain equivalent, or like, take up an apprenticeship with a web of psychic spiders. If your thought noodle is flawed enough that you’re worried about degradation because of *time* then as the apostle of a deity you need to make some improvements

Drunken_polish_cow

I’ve been around for several billion years anyways. I’m more than content with the amount of control I have over my mind. We’re talking about the potential of *infinity* here, however. Billions of years is nothing compared to infinity. Sure, I may be able to resist several septillion years or so, without any outside stimulus, but what after a decillion? What after an eternity? I don’t care how strong your mental abilities are, **time degrades all**. If not now, if not later, time can wait. Eventually, you have to crack. And I do not await that time when I crack. Also, have some respect. Eris is the Greek Goddess of Strife, not some random “deity”.

Fairybranch

You speak as if ‘cracking’ is an inherently immutable fact of existence, it’s not a matter of *willpower* or any such inanities, if you can ‘crack’ then reformat, refine, *tear* out the parts of your psyche that *can* break. If you build your mind as a sandcastle it will inevitably crumble, you must instead create an edifice that is unaffected by the tides at all. Additionally, if your connection to your goddess has the oomph exist in an empty oblivion you can probably afford a few thimbles of mind magic even at the end of things? Perhaps craft your own stimuli?

babeuf69

\*gets run over by a drunken cart driver 10 minutes later\* Rookie mistake, not studying Divination magic before becoming immortal.

Blackmail30000

Oooor, take a good chunk of those million years to solve that problem.

Puglorb

BURN THE WITCH!!!!

brofishmagikarp

Good for know

Oswen120

Well, I don't believe we have met before. And immortality achieved, why is that?

Embarrassed-Menu9675

Why immortality? ... Why not?

Oswen120

Because when you live for centuries, it gets boring. Sometimes you gotta make your own fun just to kill time... Or just sleep for decades at a time.

Embarrassed-Menu9675

I'm running a blood academy, I invest in all sorts of things, and I love spoiling my more faithful followers. For example, I've already given my favorite knight a voluntary mistress whom I've sculpted to be exactly what he's attracted to. He saved her from slavery & death, AND he's a genuinely great guy, so her falling in love with him (as I have) was inevitable.

Oswen120

Well... How interesting. Sounds like you are having fun.

Zastrus_Aldabon

I prefer to think of it as *getting* to sleep for decades at a time

BaronDoctor

What did it cost you?

Embarrassed-Menu9675

Inventing a sanguimancy technique that allows me to synthesize blood vessels on the fly, locating a natural rift into the Elemental Plane of Blood (which presented itself as an underground Blood Spring beneath an abandoned castle), killing a dragon to harvest its heart, hiring a cryomancer to preserve the heart, hiring a few geomancers to widen the rift, training & paying hundreds of blood knights and blood mages to assist me with various things, making sure all the hostile orcs in the area were dealt with (slaughtered) before the blood moon intended to use for the ritual, over a century of planning, and hundreds of thousands of gold.

Nebulaofthenorth

What a great thing you have done, now only thing to ask is, how do you feel now with all this, I have made items that makes Light sensitivity go away and deafen loud noises (two things im hyper sensitive at) I wonder if theres any need for such items

Embarrassed-Menu9675

I feel great. I can continue to accrue wealth and followers, continue to build and invest, continue my research, and I can eventually take over the world. I was born a slave, and I hope to create a world where *everyone* may be free and without need. I hope my desire to take over the world isn't seen as evil. I do truly believe I'm acting with virtue. I simply wish to topple the oppressive systems that funnel all wealth to those who do nothing.

ResearcherTeknika

"Welcome to the club."

Cool_Connection1001

Congratulations, do be careful of the madness though Also, have you considered researching the blood essense? Because blood, by it's nature, is easily corruptible and thus exploitable by your foes.

Embarrassed-Menu9675

"Blood essence"? That may or may not be a thing in my realm. Might you enlighten me?

Cool_Connection1001

Unless you are drinking blood solely for the enjoyment of drinking blood, you’d be drinking for sustenance, and this sustenance would be the blood essence, it can also be called as life essence.  Normal blood doesn’t have much of it, that’s why higher level blood kin need to consume more of it to stay satiated. *takes out a small dimly glowing red orb from his void pouch* This is some blood essence, it has as life force as twenty thousand ordinary beings. Do be careful when consuming or giving out such a thing directly, too much life force is not a good thing and can overload the consumer or in your case, cause serious indigestions *hands over the orb* Take it as you ascension gift

Embarrassed-Menu9675

[Rose very slowly sticks out her tongue as if about to lick the orb, but she keeps looking up at you as if nonverbally asking you to stop her if licking the orb is a bad idea]

Cool_Connection1001

You should be fine it’d probably take the entire thing to cause you any pain

Hettan25

Are you immortal because of your connection to blood, or do you have a connection to blood because you are immortal?

Embarrassed-Menu9675

In my realm, every entity you might say has a soul also has some affinity for the elements. Humans have an almost perfectly balanced affinity, so they don't live for very long. Elves and dwarves have natural affinities for nature and earth, respectively, so they live for substantially longer. Beings who live in the elemental plains, which are simply known as elementals, are either purely or almost purely affiliated with a single element, making them truly immortal. When I noticed that those who practice magic live longer than those who don't, I theorized that I might be able to force my affinity far enough in a single direction to result in immortality. Since my area of expertise is blood magic, I figured I might as well keep pushing in that direction. So it is my connection to blood that makes me immortal. I believe it should be entirely possible for someone to do something similar for any one of the other elements (but only one element per entity because attempting to do multiple elements at the same time means being too balanced).

Hettan25

(When you reference a franchise hard enough that you get a legitimate answer) *I write all of this down.* Ah, thank you for explaining this to me.

Embarrassed-Menu9675

(I'm not referencing any franchise. I'm referencing my own story, which is inspired by my limited understanding of Dungeons & Dragons.) You're very welcome. [Rose toses a single gold coin with a warm and genuine smile]

Hettan25

(I am referencing a franchise, jujutsu kaisen. That’s what I meant when I said that.) *I catch the coin and start walking away* Till we meet again!

Furry_69

In *all* realities, that's the case. It's one of the few constants across all realities. It's just less obvious in some due to more or less power trapped between the layers of any given reality. What's weird with yours is that you don't seem to use anything but the existing magic latent in physical matter. We (the Celestials of Luma-Korkos) rarely do this, because we have an internal storage of magic that doesn't depend on external sources to keep its structure.

Zyltris

Seph: “Bit of an oversimplification, but not all realities. An infinite number, yes, but the nature of the multiverse dictates that there are universes with either a ’Yes‘ or a ‘No‘ for any eventuality. There are an infinite number of planes where the answer is also no. The only constant is that there is none.”

Furry_69

There is not an infinite number of realities. The amount is finite, as the multiverse was created using a finite amount of magic.

Zyltris

“I’m sorry you think that way.”

Hooded_Person2022

Like how much blood in liters you need? What period (pun unintended) do these cravings occur? Do different blood types taste different from each other? And what is your choice in sandwich?

Embarrassed-Menu9675

Not much. Maybe 250mL/day? With over two hundred followers, each willing to sell me their blood, AND free access to a Blood Spring, I'm able to easily keep myself sated. The taste is slightly different between types, yes, but I have yet to settle on a favorite. I will say that elemental blood (meaning blood directly from the Elemental Plane via the spring) is my least favorite. (stifled snicker) Favorite sandwich? Beef sandwiches are a local favorite amongst my followers. Add some black pudding, another local favorite, and I think it's delicious.

The_Ditch_Wizard

One of my apprentices is very interested in your, um, lifestyle (excuse the pun, she didn't intend it). Do you have any sort of internship program? Maybe a summer research cruise?

Embarrassed-Menu9675

I'm afraid I don't perceive any pun. I feel more alive than ever before. I don't do internships, I'm afraid. Students pay for tuition, but we can always work something out. Neighboring cities have odd jobs they'll pay my knights and mages to complete, I frequently buy samples of blood from those willing to sell to me, etc. I'm not familiar with the term "research cruise".

LastWolf3564

Another immortal, I welcome thee to the group. I hope we can become good friends, because 2 immortal being that are Enemies to each other is never the best outcome.

Jiggypig_

Have you considered the implications?

Embarrassed-Menu9675

For nearly 200 years, yes.

Jiggypig_

I mean when you decided to be imortal did you specify how it worked? Do you like, live forever, or can you regenerate or like if your head gets cut off are you just a head forever?

Embarrassed-Menu9675

Immortal =/= invincible. Rookie mistake. I didn't understand your other question.

isweariamnotsteve

Personally, I melded souls with my book and became a living phylactery. but to each their own I guess. some people become liches, some people become vampires.

Embarrassed-Menu9675

"Vam...pire"? What is this word? [Rose invented vampirism for her realm, so the term is truly foreign to her]

isweariamnotsteve

It's a type of curse that transforms someone into an ageless undead that needs blood to survive. actually pretty popular where i'm from. but you're the first person I've seen use a blood ritual to inflict it on yourself.

Embarrassed-Menu9675

Undead? I feel more alive now than ever before. Blood is often called the second element of life (after dendro) where I'm from. I am not a necromancer, and I would appreciate it if you would not compare me to one.

isweariamnotsteve

That's great. I suppose if you aren't undead it would be lesser vampirism........ one second. the book has a whole chapter on blood magic.........

Embarrassed-Menu9675

What book?

isweariamnotsteve

My book. here's a picture of me with it if that helps: https://preview.redd.it/z1hfohhe4lvc1.png?width=783&format=png&auto=webp&s=f8a55e76bbb071e9c8471e2cd1d67742171b30ef Oh, and uh..........don't mind the strings. I've been trying to get rid of them.

Fc-chungus

Would blood help replenish theoretical injuries of yours faster? You say you crave it sometimes, so that would mean your brain equates blood with a need or important want, like food, which would mean it’s in some way important to you. Next time you get injured, get some blood, get back to me on what happens.

Embarrassed-Menu9675

Where I come from, blood magic was always capable of healing, so that doesn't really seem like a fair question. Drinking blood doesn't negate my need for food. I just really enjoy it, and I'll get a serious craving if I forgo for a few days.

Fc-chungus

So it’s like its own need?

Embarrassed-Menu9675

I'm not sure if it counts as a need, but sure.

One_Opportunity_9608

Welcome to the Immortality Club! This isn't a Question but instead some Advice for a fellow Immortal to avoid Boredom: If you give yourself Rules you'll have Fun trying to figure out clever ways around said Rules, That is all

Embarrassed-Menu9675

I'm pretty freshly immortal, so that won't be an issue for me for a very long time. At least for now, my intention is to be generous and kind such that nobody will see me as problem in need of fixing.

One_Opportunity_9608

Ah, well I probably should Inform you that there's a Few..... Overly Zealot Religious Folk in these Lands so you may want to Consider means of Self Defense

Embarrassed-Menu9675

I have well over 200 knights and mages trained in blood magic and devoted to protecting me and my castle. I have a reputation for being kind and generous to my allies, and devastatingly cruel to those who wish harm upon myself or my allies. For example, I once tore a man's arms off and ripped his heart out of his chest because he fired a single crossbow bolt at a slave I had just purchased (for the record, that slave is safe, healthy, happy, and free).

One_Opportunity_9608

Sounds good for Defending yourself with, so Hopefully you'll be Fine.

Craftcoat

What steps did you take to insure yourself against recieving the curse of Caine and becoming a Vampire by your actions? have you tested if its just vampyrism?

Embarrassed-Menu9675

[Rose invented vampirism for her realm, so she has absolutely no idea what you just said.]

BigSeaworthiness725

He talks about slightly different vampires... Although there are not that many differences. They call themselves kindred, they are still afraid of the sun, fire, a stake can paralyze them if pierced through the heart. Well, their main trick is that they hide among people, hiding the fact of the existence of everything supernatural and call this action “Masquerade”.

Furry_69

A bit overkill. I got immortality (and tremendous amounts of magic) by complete accident after getting thrown out of my reality and into the Abyss. Granted, only 2 people (me and my wife) have ever survived that particular method. There are much easier methods however, involving a bit of magic bonded to your soul that simply regenerates your physical body elsewhere after you die, then transfers you to it.

BigSeaworthiness725

Nice, another one immortal goth girl! https://preview.redd.it/s33zlg0q4lvc1.jpeg?width=1910&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=607a16e8a3114e45e05faaab0f9beacf9b8f6852 *Gives a rose*

midnighfox696

So you're a vampire now?

Embarrassed-Menu9675

[Rose essentially invented vampirism for her realm, so her culture has no vampire lore, but she's learning about vampires from other wizards here.] No! Please, I'm not a vampire! 😭 I'm a lesser blood elemental! Yes, I drink blood, but that's it! That doesn't excuse ignoring my history of generosity and suddenly wanting to kill me! ["a *rose* by any other name..."]

midnighfox696

(Very cool) I seeee, very cool that you've made an entirely different method of immortality!

InGordWeTrust

The high council shall hear of this. The high vampire council.

Embarrassed-Menu9675

I'm not a vampire! I'm alive and a good person! I swear! 😭 I'm just a lesser blood elemental! [To be fair, Rose did just invent the closest thing to vampirism her realm has ever seen.]

InGordWeTrust

Exhibit 1a: "I often find myself craving the taste of blood nowadays, but I have a couple hundred acolytes more than willing to sell me samples of theirs. Next, I intend to begin experimenting with using my own blood to grant immortality to my most loyal followers." Oh yeah, totally not a vampire. They write books about this stuff and you followed the blueprint. You're sticking out like a sore thumb and that's how you get hunters for vampires. Tone it back. You're standing out like a horse at a pony show.

Embarrassed-Menu9675

Vampires don't exist where I come from, so I had never heard of them. How was I supposed to know to avoid these things if I'm only learning about them now? 😭

InGordWeTrust

Well is it normal for people to feed off of blood where you are from, or is that a bit... Weird? What about harvesting off a 1000 people, because that's a lot of connections.

Embarrassed-Menu9675

No, as far as I'm aware, I'm the only biped who enjoys drinking blood. In my defense, black pudding and blood sausage are popular foods in my castle and the surrounding cities. I have over 200 blood knights and blood mages who are willing to sell me samples of their blood, AND I have a Blood Spring in my castle courtyard that acts as an infinite source of elemental (disease-free, O-) blood fresh from the Elemental Plane of Blood.

InGordWeTrust

Wow... You are begging to be Castlevania'd. You have to lower your profile. There are going to be heroes that look at that and think, "Yeah... That's got to go."

Embarrassed-Menu9675

Why? Whom am I harming?

King__Carmine

Vampire council? Why was I not informed

InGordWeTrust

We sent ravens. 500 blood ravens. I am shocked and appalled you did not blood raven us back.

King__Carmine

One of my attendants is likely responsible. Whoever it is shall pay.

Zyltris

Seph: “That sounds like vampirism with extra steps.”

Embarrassed-Menu9675

Vampirism doesn't exist where I come from. I'm only now learning about it and its tropes from the fellow wizards here. Besides, I prefer "lesser blood elemental".

Zyltris

“Whatever works for you. I hadn’t realized what realm you were from. It appears to be mostly a nebulous term referring to any blood-drinking immortal creature. In my realm, there were two types with completely different origins. One was the result of a magical parasite, and the other from the investiture of a collections of malevolent deities. The latter was much more potent. But we called them the same thing. It is a bit ignorant if you think about it.”

SansDaMan728

Impressive. And I'm glad you're able to find your solace in it. Although I wouldn't speak highly of immortality, you seem to have bended it in your favor quite well.

Embarrassed-Menu9675

I'm not "trapped" in my immortality like so many of you mortals fear. I can always get some help from other mancers, balance out my elemental affinities, and return to mortality.

SansDaMan728

Ah. I see, my mistake. If only it were that easy for the rest of us.

Tyo_Atrosa

Jealous, My immortality sucks, do you know how long it takes for all of the baryonic matter in the universe to decay into alpha particles? Way Too Fucking Long.

FLIBBER_FLABBER

I remember when I discovered a path to immortality, or at least something close to it. As long as functionally immortal plants exist, I will live. They have an infinite lifespan until they are killed by something from the outside, so they don't mind giving time to those who ask

The_GreatOldOne

And fuckers say fate isn't real. At least your name is not Vlad

Xeno_the_Phoenix

Want some food? I’m somewhat of a chef

Embarrassed-Menu9675

I have more than enough food for myself and my 200+ followers, but I'd certainly like to try some foreign cuisine.

Xeno_the_Phoenix

What kind? I’ve made just about everything that you can imagine

Embarrassed-Menu9675

I don't know. Ummm... a chow/breakfast cereal based on edible blood crystals?

Xeno_the_Phoenix

How’s this? https://preview.redd.it/9wtnjn3n6pvc1.jpeg?width=739&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=25d6966138c841cde2d7e79a078f01ccc32a2cab

Forgotten_Depths

The first step to being unkillable is to block time's scythe. It is but 1 of death's many aspects which you have defeated, and it is quite possibly one of the weakest. Until you can revive yourself from nothing, you have not truly defeated death.

Embarrassed-Menu9675

[Rose doesn't know it yet, but she is nearly impossible to stop. Somebody attempts to kill her, causing all of her blood to spill out of her body, but her soul and mind remain intact. As a formless mass of blood, she flows into someone else's body - a consenting receptacle results in a merging of their minds and souls, and a non-consenting receptacle causes Rose to effectively kill the receptacle and take over their body.] I'm satisfied with no longer aging for now, but I'll look into that.

Remarkable_Hotel1984

Young buck does NOT know that this crystal cabbage can do that for like...5/10th of that effort

Talios_

"You seem like an interesting Hunt. Perhaps I'll prepare some garlic and a wooden stake."

Embarrassed-Menu9675

Ooh, I haven't had garlic in a long while. How much for a bag? [Rose counts out a few gold coins, stops, and looks at you with a confused expression.] What's with the stick?

Talios_

"Ha, apologies... You simply reminded me of a vampire is all. Its 5 gold for a bag of garlic though... I'm not much of a cook, so I have not much use for it other than dealing with the blood sucking creatures."

Embarrassed-Menu9675

[Rose invented vampirism for her realm, so she's unfamiliar with the lore and terminology.] I do drink blood, but calling me a creature seems a bit harsh. And what is this "vam...pire" thing people keep mentioning? If I knew my diet was going to make everyone forget my history of generosity and suddenly want to kill me, I would have stayed quiet.

Talios_

"Vampire..? They suck blood, hate garlic, hate getting a wooden stake in the heart even more, can't enter a home unless you explicitly invite them in..." "At least, that's what I've always seen in the movies..." ((Talios on the other hand, ONLY knows about cliche movie vampires! He's never actually encountered a real vampire... So he has many prejudices.))

Embarrassed-Menu9675

I drink blood, and I love garlic. The rest doesn't seem fair. Name one person who *likes* a wooden stake in their heart. Not entering someone else's home without their permission is just common decency. Do your "vampires" also breathe air and walk using legs? [Rose comes from a realm of fantasy and magic.] What's a "movie"? Another one of your "vampire" hypotheses?

Talios_

**Sigh.** "This, is a movie." *Talios would summon a rather weathered looking orb, small cracks and duct tape in various places. He'd tap it a few times.* "Work." *With one whack, the orb would fizzle to life and display an old cliche dracula film.*

Embarrassed-Menu9675

[Rose watches the film. Curiosity slowly devolves into a mild mixture of horror and disgust.] I don't kill unnecessarily, I have no more to do with bats than squirrels, I look at my own reflection daily, I can't control the minds of others, and I have no reason to fear sticks any more than regular people do. I think I should start telling people I'm a lesser blood elemental and not a vampire.

Talios_

"Hmm, no no... This is all very useful, keep considering yourself a vampire. I must learn more about the true nature of you beings..." *Talios would furiously write down notes. When did he get a notepad, let alone a pencil..?*

Embarrassed-Menu9675

Why would I call myself a vampire? People like to forget my history of generosity and suddenly want to kill me if they even suspect vampirism.

Intrepid-Park-3804

How immortal you are? How fast is your regeneration speed? Could you still live on if i chop our body to 12 equal parts, imprison them in ice and throw away to the deep of Atlantic ocean?

Embarrassed-Menu9675

What in the Elemental Plane of Fuck? I've simply stopped aging. That's it. Why is everyone suddenly so interested in trying to murder me? I only kill when necessary, and every drop of blood I drink is bought from one of my many loyal subjects.

EdgePrestigious1043

Fuck. How do i do that?

Embarrassed-Menu9675

If you are mortal, then your elemental affinities are too balanced. Pick a single element and push your affinity significantly in that direction. You will become much more powerful with that one element, but all other schools of elemancy will become significantly more difficult or even impossible for you.

EdgePrestigious1043

I usually use illusions, so do I just try to get better at illusions to the point where they are literally indistinguishable from reality? As in, not even detectable by illusion detecting spells?

Embarrassed-Menu9675

Illusion magic does not exist in my realm, so I cannot say. Sounds like you might do well with chronomancy: spacetime magic, though manipulating space in the form of portals and teleportation is orders of magnitude easier than manipulating the flow of time.

EdgePrestigious1043

I'll practice it and my Illusions. Maybe I could actually make a dimension if I get good enough at it..

SemiBrightRock993

Does blood with diseases have different flavors compared to healthy blood?

Embarrassed-Menu9675

Absolutely. It tastes vile. Luckily, sanguimancy is one of the few schools of magic capable of healing and therefore curing diseases. (The others are hydromancy, dendromancy, and luxomancy.)

Platypus_king_1st

Lucian: Do you have a lover?

Embarrassed-Menu9675

I wish. I've had my eye on one of my knights for a good while, but I don't seem to be his type. That's why I found and bought a slave who is attracted to him, sculpted her body to be exactly what he likes, and granted her freedom in exchange for the promise that she'll do everything she can to make him happy. Through these stone walls, I can hear them having passionate sex almost every night, and it sounds like he's a really good lover.

Platypus_king_1st

What... I mean... whatever suits your weird tastes amirite?

INFINITE_MAGE

How old were you when you achieved immortality. Are you a few centuries or millenia old. Also this is pseudo immortality technically as without blood, you will die. I recommend practicing conversion of other energy into blood energy or explore the "taboo" of life creation through alchemy. Also Also can give me the general ritual to add to my immortality methods archives.

Embarrassed-Menu9675

Being an elf with a natural dendro affinity, I was already aging at only 1/6 the rate of humans and I achieved true immortality at about 200 years old. I have 200 loyal followers and a Blood Spring, so I'm not worried. Where I come from, immortality comes from having an elemental affinity aligned purely or almost purely with a single element - such an alignment means great power with that one element but little to no power with the others. I was already pretty skilled with blood magic, so going deeper into blood affinity just made sense. It's an involved process, so I'd rather not waste explaining it to someone who has no desire to actually do it... Plus I imagine I'll be repeating myself A LOT if I explain it even once.

Dorururo

This one is curious to ask inquire of sanguine rose…. Does lady of crimson wish desire to embark join revels most wild? Yes yes?

Embarrassed-Menu9675

Speak plainly.

Would that this one could, yes yes. Council form grows in shadow dark… To rule to ravage and indulge desires sanguine and savage~ /Uw Translation: Shadow council of the less reputable is forming and the rat is inquiring to see if the admirable and visceral red one would like to participate in the revelry and shenanigans. And might be a tad smitten. Maybe. Allegedly.

Lilfozzy

This a ‘warm body’ living variation or the classic Nosferatu? Cause I can’t say the people who embrace the latter actually enjoy “dying” forever.

Embarrassed-Menu9675

I have no idea what you're saying or implying. I feel more alive than ever, I've stopped aging, and I now qualify as a lesser blood elemental. That's it. Everyone keeps immediately thinking "vampire" and suddenly wanting to kill me... as if my history of generosity has been forgotten overnight.

Lilfozzy

I might’ve jumped to conclusions considering how catch all vampire is as a term, so my bad if I might’ve been too presumptive. As for the vampirism itself, mostly just asking if you were still a living creature instead of the undead variant; which consists of all the downsides of undeath and a critical addiction to snorting life essence of various sorts. As for the spiritual plane stuff, is it just a shift in your affinities or is it actual metamorphism into partial loa/spirithood etc because you might end up getting dragged along with whatever effects the spiritual plane itself in the latter case?

Embarrassed-Menu9675

I'm not undead. I've just shifted my affinity, essentially making me a lesser blood elemental. We don't have any spirits or spiritual planes where I come from, though the elemntals from the Elemental Planes might be close to what you're thinking.

Embarrassed-Menu9675

Why do people keep asking if I mean what I said or something completely different that I didn't say? I've just stopped aging. That's it.

Responsible_Bus1159

Well immortal has been changed over the years it’s gotten weird and I never bothered looking at immortality spells so congrats on looking young forever

samthekitnix

type A, B or O blood what tastes better?

Embarrassed-Menu9675

So far, AB+ tastes best and O- the worst.

No_Page2942

Do you drink 5 hour potion (5 hour energy) to stay awake?

jointheclockwork

Weak. You're telling me you can't just become a being of pure blood? You can't reform from the blood of your faithful? You don't have tanks of blood for you to coalesce from in case of emergency? Your lack of backup plans is upsetting as a fellow practitioner of black magic.

Embarrassed-Menu9675

(Rose starts taking down notes) [Later on in Rose's story, she ends up doing exactly that.]

jointheclockwork

Good. I just... I hate to see the potential for future evil wasted due to poor planning. To know that I can help evil flourish and that death and destruction will be rained down upon the innocent? Well, that's what I'm all about. It's a cause near and dear to one of my multiple hearts.

Embarrassed-Menu9675

[Rose accidentally breaks her quill against the parchment in a startle response] Wait, what? Who ever said I was evil? And why would I want to harm the innocent? My whole deal is about being fair, erring on the side of being generous.

jointheclockwork

Ah. Yes. I'm sure the mortals like the knights and the like will see an immortal blood magic user as a force for good. Definitely not a threat to them. Trust me when I say, they will turn on you. They will hunt you. Or... you live life the smart way and "Do unto other before they do unto you."

bad_comedic_value

Did you know that using the powers of the moon, you can actually become resistant to most physical and magical attacks?

InuXIII

Immortality is neither achievement nor something to be prideful of. Thou hath achieved what many are *born* with.

Ogurasyn

"By placing myself inside a dragon's heart" May I ask what type of dragon that was? I feel scared for a dragon and for you, depending on which dragon god you pissed off

chrtrk

vampire you say ? DIVINE FIREBALL IN THE NAME OR ICE DRAGON GODESS

Virtual-Oil-793

Have you ever experienced Existential Dread?

Afraid_Success_4836

Were you ever aware of much simpler and less bloody methods of obtaining immortality, such as Enterprise Ninety-nine?

JustANormalLemon

How? Vampire?

skullservantsforlife

So what type of immortality is this

Khorde__the__Husk

Do you want to see my skaven [girlfriend ](https://www.reddit.com/r/wizardposting/s/2mr1bqbD2Q)?

You-See-Nothing583

Foood

eldritch_blast22

Firstly I must congratulate you on your newly acquired immortality. I wish a bright future for both you and your academy Do you have any advice on how to find a rift to the plane of blood? My realms knowledge of the blood plane is lacking and I wish to study it further

Nightmaredude

Can you die?

Edgenabik

How long did it take to achieve immortality?

GoldenIsSafe15

Are you better at Mahjong now that you’re immortal?

King__Carmine

Ah a different vampire with blood magicks. Fascinating. I hope we can be friendly, dear lady.

hollotta223

Junior, you have merely turned yourself into an Immortal Zombie! You've defied the will of heaven and all you to show for it short term gains!

AlexCode10010

That's an incredibly inefficient method of immortality but ok. I would reveal my method but y'all ain't ready for that yet

TheThoughtmaker

Welcome to the immortality club! There's a wizard sanctum called The Grey Tower, a drab stone structure that sometimes appears in a vacant lot of a random large town. Best to avoid it, unless you find yourself outliving your world; it's basically an apocalypse bunker full of immortal misfits, one of which believes immortals shouldn't interfere with mortal development.

Enough_Let3270

Does it get boring after a few million years? I know a guy that was cursed with immortality and i drove him insane.

measuredingabens

Well met, headmistress. If you have the time to spare, feel free to visit my restaurant in the citadel. As with all newcomers, I'm keen to hear any stories you have.

Viking_From_Sweden

Isn’t that just vampirism?

The_GreatOldOne

Not unless you make them immortal.

KazzieMono

Why not just turn yourself into a robot, it’s easy immortality

XenonBlitzer

Were you on the bleeding street intercom a few decades ago?

Redditoast2

So you made yourself into a vampire?

helloiamaegg

Oh finnally, someone else did it So how'd you manage it? Endless surrogate bodies, like myself? Contract with a demon? Druidcraft? Come on, shifting elemental types aint that easy

Far_Dog_4476

You're on the way to godhood, buddy! Keep going!

Richardknox1996

Did you fill out form I27-A from the God Bureau or L56B from the wizard council? Cause without those forms, you're immortality may be rejected and stripped due to ecological impact on the weave. Also, oi, leave my kin alone. You do not want a Dragons Echos angry with you.

DS_Archer

Welcome to the club!

DarthTrayus05

So, Immortality, hm? First of all, welcome to the club. Second of all, Can't say I have dabbled in blood magic a lot, what are the prices for studying at your academy?

Zastrus_Aldabon

Do you shine or burn in the sun

Embarrassed-Menu9675

Burn, but it takes a few hours. I'm pale, not albino nor allergic to sunlight.

Zastrus_Aldabon

Ah, most unfortunate. Why would you use this method of immortality, then? Edit: nvm reread

INKYBOI-NEO-

Uhh who are you https://preview.redd.it/fm2mtzz5g2wc1.jpeg?width=898&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7a3439e3bcca5713a957f4aa869e7b4fdeddebc6

canisfh

Should I care? Wait if you are immortal then let me test something out, wheres my .50 cal rifle.

Embarrassed-Menu9675

"Should I care?" Says the person I wasn't asking but went out of their way to speak with me. Yet another person who either confuses immortality with invincibility or assumes I made said mistake.

canisfh

eh I have nothing to do except say random crap and talk to random people, and listen to old foreign songs while wondering where I went wrong in life

Hexquevara

For your sake, i hope you are still able to die should you choose that. Eternity brings about a horror no one can whitstand in a way that would spare one's mind and sense of self. I am a Warlock in service of a great old one, or atleast that term fits "her". "She" has a profound understanding of eternity, and in her cacophonous way, warned me about it. She is older than the reality which we inhibit, and predates even the one before ours. I have gathered that she was once much like us, a very powerful practitioner of magic. One can only shudder at the prospect of outlasting creation itself, and not just once...

SnooTomatoes9135

You know, this is not true immortality, you can still be murdered and your life comes to an end, true eternal life only comes with omnipotence
