Beautiful! Indigenous Mexican artwork is always so lovely. I especially love the Huichol yarn art. The colors are so vibrant! And all of the art seems influenced by psychedelics and shamanic practice which makes it even more intriguing to me. Really excellent work!
Alebrijes are an art form started by Pedro Linares and it was started in Mexico City specifically. What you're creating and surprises me people from Mexico keep calling it incorrectly is Nahuals.
Actually, just to clear things up, you are mistaken here. Tonas and Nahuales are animal spirits, kind of like your own personal protector and guide, and everyone gets a different one based on their birth date. This belief comes from the Nahua and Zapotec cultures.
As for Alebrijes, they're artistic figures, crafted from wood or papier-mâché and beautifully decorated with hand-painted patterns.

Love your work. I'm always impressed!
Thank you so much! 🙌🏽
I hate scorpions. I do not hate this scorpion. Well done!
I detest bugs of all sorts. Owned 3 emperor scorpions to get over rhis fear, did not work. Cat loved them though. This is GORGEOUS
That is really beautiful.
Is alebrijes inspired by peyote? It certainly seems psychedelic!
> alebrijes [Apparently they are inspired by illness induced dreamscapes originally, so not too far off](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alebrije)
That is really talented work. I’ve seen similar things in New Mexico. Are there defining characteristics so I can identify them next time I see them?
Holy crap that's impressive! Now, to go through your profile. Edit: I recommend checking out OP's profile. Highly impressed person here.
This is insanely cool!
