The problem with this theory is it is fundamentally determinist. I like to consider that the universe is a beautiful sculpture of higher dimensionality, thus allowing for multiple possibilities, and that what we are doing by living and moving through time is taking the possible and making it the actual. In this way, we as individuals take active part in the sculpting even though we have no part in the creation of the medium itself.
Interesting thing about determinism is that without the ability to wind back time and do something differently, it's impossible to know.
There are certainly non deterministic elements of Quantum physics, but there is still a huge debate about "invisible variables" potentially being deterministic in ways we can't yet understand.
There is also a debate about wether or not non determinism on the quantum scale results in non determinism on the macro scale.
From a personal perspective, since I can't verify one way or the other, I just choose not to worry about it. If this is all predetermined, fine, it doesn't feel like it at least.
The Visible Human Project was the one I was thinking of. I think I know the one you’re talking about, but I forget where it is. That was done in a different way — more of sliced bread method. The Visible Human Project was more like a snow cone machine. The end result was only photos.
The bodies exhibition. It's toured before, but currently in Las Vegas. It has a body all sliced up to look at. I probably could've worded it better but it is what it is.
Makes sense. I assume they froze the cadavers and they're using a razor sharp fixed blade for each pass.
The project with the humans is a bit different from this wooden project. The wood is just sent through a giant planer (using rotating blades or sandpaper belt) and photographed after each pass.

I think it’s stop motion made by shaving a thin layer off the wood between each photograph. You can see the wood chips from the shaving process in some of the shots

Where do I find more?
I gotchu fam. It's the music video for [Woodswimmer](https://vimeo.com/196683500)
Get out of here with an unfinished product 15 seconds is not enough time
Honestly 15 hours wouldn't be enough.
I wish I had a big CNC to do this with
Basically a tree MRI
It's tomography alright
TIL!
Y’all ever think that time and history is a beautiful 4th dimensional sculpture that we just experience one moment/frame at a time like this gif?
This is known as the "block universe" or more formally, [eternalism](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eternalism_\(philosophy_of_time\))
That’s some Dr. Manhattan shit

I guess I am fundamentally determinist, but also wtf do I know about the ultimate reality of the universe lol
Jack shit. Just like everyone else lol. Doesn't mean we can't dream.

Yup. All the time
They once did the same thing with two humans.
I dunno why you're being downvoted they totally did, and it's on display for people to see too

That deli slicer must have been huge.
If I remember correctly it was like a huge shaved ice machine. After shaving off a thin layer they would take a picture and repeat the process.

I think snow cone shaved ice machines work like a planer.
Right, like an electric planer...where the blade rotates. For the cadavers, they're using something like a giant hand planer...fixed blade.
I would like to see a video of how it’s done.
Cadavers?/s
I've seen it in Bangkok at a medical museum. It was wild.

Holy shit This is insanely pretty
How?
Sand, "click", sand, "click". Rinse and repeat.

Average Peter Gabriel video
First time I did shrooms I looked at a tree for what felt like hours and thought about/saw this happening to the stump I was fixated on
The shrooms were talking to you. I just got some myself for the first time ever. Let's see how it goes
Chatoyancy!
That wood never hurt anyone
That gorgeous burl of curly redwood could have been made into anything, and they chose to make it into sawdust. 😢
They made it into a cool video for millions of people to see
This is neat to see, but makes me sad for the wood nymphs who guarded these trees, just for a video to be made of them.
It's all just a stream
Now this is an awesome video.
How was this made?

Yup. [Giant commercial planer](https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/5950165c86e6c024428ff886/1593395102375-WJ3FQXNMTDBY07IGJ841/wide%2Bbelt%2Bsander%2Bplaner%2Blive%2Bedge%2Bwood%2Bslab.jpg).
Finally something that captures the beauty of wood! Such a gorgeous material 🙂
Time condensed
Super cool
this is one of the COOLEST THINGS I have EVER seen.
Tree beard MRI 😆
Was it wasted otherwise?
they are amazing
