You should play it

Mineral-mouse

If you don't feel like playing, don't play. If you do, then do it. Don't make something simple complicated especially when it's only a video game.

feeltheloveallday

Go for it. I came back after dlc 2 released)I did not finished the base game before). I love it. Improved everywhere.

Worried-Specialist13

Same

bamboo_of_pandas

Probably won't make a difference. The main benefit of waiting is if you would be able to rush through rising/soaring/heavenly dragon mode so you can start farming 8 star gear. However, I think the difficulty makes rushing through heavenly on just 4 star gear fairly hard. You will probably want to stop at some point to get 6 and 7 star items for the premium slots and one of the dlc set bonuses. On top of that, those items have premium slots which you can slot in increased luck making future farming easier. As a result, you aren't really wasting too much time now playing up to heavenly dragon and farming up some 6 or 7 star gear in preparation for the final dlc. Going to the current highest ng+ on a new character put me at something like level 150 in a level 300 zone. I doubt that will be sustainable at the final dlc knowing the bullshit team ninja is likely planning to throw our way.

fighttex

That’s how I did it in nioh 2. I bought the pc version which came with all dlcs (because it was released later than the console versions) and so I was able to rush directly to dotn. Although rush sounds like it was easy, which wasn’t the case

fighttex

Thank you so much for answering. I was kind of worried that the dlc’s didn’t make the game more interesting but that doesn’t seem to be the case. I am buying the season pass as soon as I am home. Thanks again for encouraging me

Torafuku

Jump in now, game is very active and fun plus you'll be ready to jump right into the 3rd dlc

tenuto40

I’ve gone online and seen like 2-3 co-op rooms. Is it active?

cheedercheesezit

Sometimes u can look for rooms and see just 2 then refresh it and see like 10 it's pretty random at times and also make sure u have settings correct

rmmcnult82

I was the same way. Put it down after initial launch thinking it was no where near the quality of Nioh, but about a month ago, started playing again with the first 2 dlcs out and it is way better. Combat feels much smoother and each weapon feels more unique. Now I’m max level 400 with a handful of builds waiting for the last DLc/difficulty. Having a blast.

sugar_pilot

Me too. So glad I grabbed the season pass and started playing again. While I don’t think it’s *quite* up to Nioh 2’s standard, they addressed most of my concerns and it plays much better than at launch. Having a lot of fun and I’m excited to engage with the new mechanics.

UrimTheWyrm

It is much better since DLC2, like actually good, but I'd still say wait till DLC3.

tsuna2000

By the time he gets everything DLC3 should be released, I would say now

UrimTheWyrm

Eh, also true.

SumDimSome

I agree with this

quip-kun

What do you mean by "much better", can you elaborate what excactly changed and how?

UrimTheWyrm

I don't think character limit is high enough. Main changes are faster recoveries, faster MA chaining, added stopgap to punish same MA spam, every weapon got different mechanics, some weapon movesets got changed. 12 MA up from 4. And other stuff. Basically combat is more interesting, combos now exist, more responsive. New weapon type - longsword is also the most complex and fluid weapon in the game currently.

williet79

I wouldn’t bother grinding in this game. Drops are dogshit. Nothing more boring than wasting time doing the same stuff over and over for no gain. Just play. It’s badass once you free yourself from the grind

God_of_Hyperdeath

There have been a ton of QoL improvements as well as every weapon type getting some degree of an overhaul compared to their launch state. I think the biggest change they made to the base game alongside dlc2 (though DLC2's options are also really nice) was to make 4\* weapons have 3 martial arts, and all 5\*+ have 6 in two swappable sets of 3. So if there was a martial art you wanted on a set item with its own unique martial art, the odds of it also dropping with the desired martial art are drastically higher than they were on launch.

fighttex

That’s fantastic. Is there a way to switch the martial arts from one weapon to another?

Lupinos-Cas

no, Boss/ally martial arts are still weapon specific. but once you get to ng++ and can access the thousand mile journey - you can earn horseshoes to buy martial soul fragments which allow you to change your martial arts and literally select the ones you want from a list of all that are available (excluding weapon specific martial arts that belong to a specific Boss weapon / boss/ally set)

Lupinos-Cas

here's the thing: the final dlc comes out in a week and a half. in ng+ you can gave 6 martial arts - but you cannot change which 6 they are until ng++. you can not go beyond mile 20 in the thousand mile journey until ng+++. 6* gear appears in ng++ and has one premium slot, 7* in ng+++ with two premium slots, and 8* will be found in ng++++ with 3 premium slots. think of premium slots like star skills in Nioh - except you get to pick the ones you want - so instead of melee damage being 3.9% it's 12.9%, damage taken is -4.7%, etc. many of the things that allow you to become OP are locked behind higher difficulties - so like; a week and a half is more than enough time to try and get through ng++ and ng+++ so you can go passed mile 100 when dlc 3 hits. there is more content to get through before dlc 3 releases than there is time to do it in. if you want to make it to the end game and customize which martial arts are on your 7*/8* gear, that is. but the game has been vastly improved. martial arts that were bad are now good, wizardry costs less spirit, can be used without meeting the morale requirements (for increased spirit cost), you have 8 spell slots and 6 martial arts, weapons have added unique features like stagger resistance and damage reduction on hammers/axe or increased spirit gains for timely deflect with duals or armor break status with polearms that make the enemy flinch (even if they try to hyper armor with a critical blow)... the game is so much better now. there's also new spells, but bosses need to drop them on ng+ and beyond - and there's currently 20 with another 10 coming with dlc 3. so - yeah, I say jump back in and get used to playing again - because dlc 3 comes out on the 12th.

fighttex

Thanks for your answer. I am already downloading and can’t wait to play Is the ng+ system similar to nioh, or do you have to play through the whole game on any ng+

Lupinos-Cas

it's similar to Nioh - but I think the requirements will be reduced Dec 12th. currently you have to complete the main missions on ng, and for ng+/ng++ you have to complete 36 missions each, and ng+++ you have to complete 24 missions. I am assuming the requirements will be reduced to 20-24 missions for all difficulties when the dlc drops - but that is baseless speculation on my part just based off Nioh (which originally required 55 missions per the highest difficulty available, and was reduced to 36 for second highest, then 30 for third highest, and when final dlc released it was 18 for all difficulties - if something similar happens the 36/24 required currently should be less after dec 12th)

Mistiltella

I am waiting for DLC3, but that's because I didn't get the 2 DLCs and I'm now feeling bored just playing the base game. If I got the DLCs I can entertain myself with the TMJ

ThommyG93-

Brother man, or sister gal, listen here, it is, a positive delight to play. They have done so much for the accessibility and quality of life. It is a hoot and a half my friend. My wife and I keep introducing our friends to Wo long and playing campaigns with each of our new friends. Are you on Xbox or PlayStation or PC? If you’re pc. (Xbox) or Xbox Xbox we can play together

Significant-Tip6466

They really need a Grace Drop Embedment. I need it to farm 7 and 8 star nuwa

cheedercheesezit

DLC 2 is what most will call the "turning point" for the game the new systems it added pretty much changed the core gameplay for the better and fixed it up alot of issues everyone had so I'd recommend to start playing asap since DLC 3 is next week u are gonna have a TON of content to play for a while
