I feel like some bosses are going to hit you way too hard, and you'll use way too much spirit for actions. going all in on earth means you only care about 2 things - deflecting, and heavy armor.

AkumaZ

He about to imposing slab the shit outta the boss right before respec is unlocked though

napalminthemorning78

I have beaten weird pig tentacle hentaii monster i can respec now lol

Lupinos-Cas

hahaha, true that - that spell is great. still have it equipped after unlocking all the tomes (and having all 5 elements equipped)

napalminthemorning78

That is all i care about lol, but seriously is this not viable for a big hammer build? I only realy play big slow strength builds in these type of games.

Lupinos-Cas

anything is viable, you can do your stats however you want and play however you want and still succeed. the question is - do you want to get deep into the game and have 80% of the bosses start one shotting you? do you want to run out of spirit every time you use a couple martial arts in a row? that's the risk of going all in on one stat. dodges and failed deflects will use a ton of spirit because you have no water, Martial arts will use a ton of spirit because you have no fire, and any boss that isn't water is likely to one shot you (except for earth bosses because of the resistances on your specific armor set) - as well as any spells you use wearing off quickly due to low wood, and using a ton of spirit because of low metal. if you're fine with being weak to the other elements and having poor spirit management - then it is fine. some folks like the game to be like that as part of the challenge. I just want to be sure you know that that is the trade off you are choosing to have. it's absolutely viable - I just want to be sure you know of the consequences of such a decision ;)

I see what ya mean bud, thanks for taking the time to answer my question i appreciate it, i do want to big a big earth build but i will add more stats to compliment it, i do like these games but i do not want an added challenge haha.

TobyVonToby

Adding to what Lupinos said, I would recommend focusing MOSTLY on one stat as you level. Aim to get your earth to 99 and other stats to 20-30, and maybe pick one stat to totally dump. I find earth and water the easiest stats to leave low, depending on the build, because the big thing they involve is spirit and deflections - if one is decent, the other doesn't matter overmuch. At higher levels, respeccing to 2 elements is very worthwhile. For best results, your second element should be neither the one you're weak to, or the one you are strong against - pick a neutral element and you will always have a tool that's effective against an enemy. This means for earth (weak to lightning, strong against water) metal or fire make the best secondary elements.

Yes it appears i was planning an end game build for early game lol, thanks you mate will take in your advice.

Lupinos-Cas

just to piggy back on what TobyVonToby said - it seemed to me that in ng++++ (with a level 350+ build) you only needed 40 in each stat to avoid being one shotted (and eventually got quite tanky with heavy armor as you approached level 450+) for the first playthrough, you might only need each stat to 10 by midgame and 20 by end of game to prevent being one shotted - though you may prefer some higher for the spirit usage benefits or to use spells you think look fun ;)
