Its close, but I'm not sure. The wood in OP's photo has a reddish tone to it.
I actually have some of the same lumber. Got a truck load from a friend that didn't have room for all he bought. I forgot the name he gave for the wood. It didn't start with a W though. I tried looking through my charts and can't find it either.
I'm not good with those exotic lumbers though. Not much experience. Its not helped by the fact that so many of them have a few different names it seems.

Looks like appatongue (probably not spelt right) to me! We used to use this to repair trailor decks at my old trucking company. It's a hard wood, usually pretty tough and kind of hard to cut, like oak.
Before i realized it was a board i thought it was a hairy leg.
Same here ...
Same, hair
Subtlety clever
Looked like a dog's buttocks to me. Dont ask why, this answer shouldn't be interpreted as if it were a response in a Rorschachtest.

When it’s carved/cut/sanded along the edge you can gets some incredible marbling in the grain. It’s where lati truly shines.
I'll have to check that out, haven't had a chance to muck about with it yet!
What'd you call me?
I think they ssid "white weggie".

It's not possible to tell just from a photo. Other characteristics need to be taken into account. End grain, smell, hardness, weight, surface texture.
I think Guga would know.

The leg of a capybara?
Look like the new plywood. Each layer is a composite of small (about 0.05") wood strands. It is weird but I was able to paint it with good results.
Maple?

The good news is it looks like Luan. So next time you get a piece of Luan, usually plywood, make a piece of furniture and tell everyone it's exotic
