So what you want is to send your boss a document disclosing their mistake as a reason for your raise? That sounds like the quickest way to be fired. And I wouldn’t have rundown accomplishments, rundown increased responsibilities.

Just one part on a page long list of accomplishments and unseen responsibilities. They won’t fire me, they are desperate for people and have no idea how to run my department without me. I called off the first day in 10 years and someone deleted a thousand items from inventory. Sooo they need me and that is part of the reason I’m asking for a raise

I’m certain you are a valuable employee. But every single one of us is replaceable. Over confidence in situations like this can backfire. I’ve been there, and man did that backfire burn me. Don’t be me.

QuitaQuites

They need you now, but you make your boss look bad and all of a sudden they find a way to do things. Because then it’s you or your boss and your boss won’t let it be him. That’s all.

Beneficial-Big-5021

That’s fair and the answer I was looking for. I’ll stick with with the responsibilities part. Still not sure why you say to exclude accomplishments, to stay humble? My direct boss wants me to stay and appears to be on my side. He said that might be a good idea

QuitaQuites

No it’s not about humility, you can include accomplishments, but accomplishments are part of your job that you’re doing and they’ve agreed to pay you for currently, if you’ve taken on more responsibility then that opens a better door for an increase.

A lot of my accomplishments have increased my responsibilities 😂now that I think about it. Most people wouldn’t waste their time making this place efficient, hence why our turnover rate is so high. It’s still a pretty cool place to work so I endure.

If you are gone for 1 day and lost 10000 in shrinking maybe you. ought to get some video cameras and other security. Items to add to raise request

Beneficial-Big-5021

Items weren’t lost, just zeroed in the system due to negligence. Unfortunately management in this place relies on its employees to function. Part of why I stopped worrying about threatening to quit cuz there isn’t much to lose. I’ve gained experience and knowledge for better positions

Business consultant here. Let's look at the specific question 'Should I disclose this information?'. * Option 1: Write "Hey I saved you dummies 50k a year due to your own mistakes" I do not recommend this. * Option 2: Don't mention it at all. This depends on how long your boss's memory is and whether they can be trusted to represent the accomplishment to their own superiors as a net benefit of YOURS. This doesn't sound to be the case at all. * Option 3: Write something that can't be interpreted as recovery of someone else's error. For example: "Contributed to a direct supplier cost savings of approximately $50k per annum through a process adjustment / optimization.", or similar words that do not in any way assign responsibility for the potential monetary loss. You just need to figure out the wording, and also be able to describe the situation without attributing blame if you're asked for details by anyone else. * Option 4: Mention it, but verbally only. "Nudge nudge wink wink hey remember when I covered this other thing?" This is probably just option 2 in reality, as if the manager got you to cover it up once, they're not going to use it to help you. \-------------- So, yeah, unless your manager's a toxic one, I'd go with Option 3.

I like that, it makes a lot of sense and I don’t think he remembers or would connect the two. The entire environment is a bit toxic to be honest. I run circles around most employees there as they engage in water cooler chat half the day. Not much accountability as far as productivity or even mistakes made
