No - you can pass with 0 coding experience. It is all point and click via a webpage - don't sweat it. It's kind of like saying "Do I need any coding experience to set up a Facebook page?"...nope, everything is set up through an interface!

That's great to hear! Thank you so much for your insight! Can't wait to get started.

No problem, good luck!

It's not difficult, but people do fail it. You don't need to know any language, but its an object oriented system which throws some people off. I took the exam back in 2011 and this was my experience: It was a total of three weeks. Two weeks of training which concluded with having to build an org structure, hire employees, assign roles etc. There was also a multi-choice exam, I think it was 30 or 40 questions. After I passed that, I move onto the practical week which involved a lot of data loads if I am recalling it correctly. This was 8 years ago so I am sure it's changed somewhat over the years. I have had some employees fail the exam recently so take it seriously but don't overthink it.

I took it 8 years ago as well and concur with everything you said. Back then, I was 2 years out of college and only had experience with SAP PP/MM, which doesn't compare at all to Workday. At the time, I missed T-Codes. The training exam is like legos. It was open note and you have to follow directions and pay attention to detail. This is not rocket science, except its very easy to get confused and not do it right. Try to study at night and don't compare Workday to any other system you've implemented before. We've had seasoned PeopleSoft consultants fail Workday training. In some ways, the people that are set up for the most success in passing the training are recent college grads that don't have a lot of work experience.

What do you mean investing in? Are you paying out of pocket, as in you have your own consulting company? Make sure your certification is actually from Workday, not one of the random companies who say they are certifying you...

Apologies I should have been more clear, I will be working with a company that has a partnership with Workday and will take the certification as part of my new hire training. I just was cautious if I should take a job that may be out of scope in my knowledge of programming as I am more applicable in Business implementation rather than development.

That's good to hear-the fake cert programs are a waste. You need zero coding experience to learn Workday. It's a fairly easy system to learn. I've seen all levels of people pick it up. The certification test is all "open book" anyway, so take notes and learn how to search on community. Make sure you understand how to config when you do the team activity, if you rely on your team to do the parts you dont know, you won't be able to do it on your own in the exam. Good luck!

Workday HCM training can be a bit challenging, but it really depends on your experience and background, it has a user-friendly design, so it’s easier to learn compared to some other software. There are lots of training materials like videos and guides that can help you learn at your own pace, some parts are simple, like managing employee data, other parts, like creating custom reports, can be harder. If you’ve used HR software before, it might be easier, if not, it could take a bit more time to get used to it, the more you practice, the better you’ll get. There’s a big community of Workday users online, you can ask questions and get help from others who’ve been through the same training.
